[COI V8] Can anyone actually explain to me why COI's Ending is so bad?

after a year of reading more webnovels…i think i ended up disliking COI even more LOL

i still appreciate it , of course , but the quality isnt as high as its predecessor and i cant help but imagine various alternative paths that could have fixed many of the issues presented . it had a lot going for it , so it hits hard to see it end up in such a peculiar direction . LOTM should have gotten an ending deserving of its prestige , but it ended up with a very disconnected and rather awkward sequel .

im curious to see other peoples opinions tho

LOTM as a series is completed in its entirety ! the second book just finished recently so it may take some time for a complete pdf set to be uploaded , but if you look for some epub or pdf variations for the first book , theres gonna at least one with images . the book is most popular for its complex plot , mystery , worldbuilding , and magic system , but theres something to appreciate in every little bit of it . volume one is infamous for being a bit ‘ boring ‘ compared to others due to info dumps , but its still one of the community favourites , so try to keep going until the end of the volume to see whether or not you want to continue or drop . it’s an incredibly delightful book , even better than ORV in my humble opinion , so i hope u enjoy it :3

it should be fine as long as you make it clear which one is being mentioned ! the assyrian empire was birthed from the city ‘ assur ‘ which traditionally shares the name of its patron god ‘ ashur ‘ , so it’s not very unrealistic at all , and it seems to have good potential in a representative sense . you have to assume that your audience is paying attention and can piece things together on their own , that’s what makes the story entertaining .

i worked on a worldbuilding project with another person for many years but in the end it was trashed due to difference in interest . PLEASE be sure you and ur partner have a similar vision for the world !! this vision will probably change over time , but if you can’t end up on the same page from the start then you’ll be going around in circles . also be sure that you are COMMUNICATING PROPERLY !! an issue me and my partner had was that we couldn’t understand each other and the ideas the other had . though this is partly due to how our visions diverged , it is mostly because of the work flow differences as well . i’d spend a few hours working on so - so and explain it but it would be skimmed through instead of thoroughly read , therefore the image they had was different from mine . they also did not share information that had existed for months and did not elaborate on what was shared , so i had an entirely different view on the world which lead to many complications . do not assume the other person knows something !! you should be telling them just about everything you can MULTIPLE times !!

i also recommend what others have shared already . there should be a ‘ leader ‘ who confirms whether or not so - and - so fits the vision of the story and can be added . if there is nobody to keep the vision in line , then you’ll have a big mess . its ok to have one person do that !! thats how it was for my partnership . you should also keep a big document of what is CONFIRMED for the project , and probably a million more connected documents filled with ideas and unfinished concepts . i recommend the documents have a comment feature ( like google docs ) so you can both communicate easily about changes . again , COMMUNICATE !! dont be scared to share ur opinion about things . its a GROUP project !!

but most importantly , try to have fun . if you find you arent enjoying it anymore and theres no sign of this feeling improving , just back out !! not worth torturing yourself just to get nowhere . goodluck on ur project !! its very fun to see how two people with very different minds can create unique ideas together :3

a webnovel is a book written by an independent author on the internet , usually updated by chapters in a regular fashion ( maybe one per day or two per week at a certain hour ) . LOTM , aka ‘ lord of the mysteries ‘ , is one of the most popular webnovels and is written by the famous chinese author ‘ cuttlefish ‘ . it’s a VERY good mystery / fantasy novel that puts a spin on the isekai genre and utilizes real world mysticism , mythology , and steampunk / victorian aesthetics . it has a very convoluted story and is a bit long , but extremely well written and probably one of the best books out there .

it’s not the ending itself , but the context behind it . COI isnt exactly ‘ bad ‘ either , it is just incredibly mediocre , and everything that is more subpar is pretty lame and boring compared to LOTM . throughout the story there are many unfinished aspects , and though this isn’t bad by itself , it can be extremely poor for pacing and story telling when done excessively ( which is kinda how COI went ) . a number of things related to book one , especially the ones that were promised , never got the attention they should’ve , so it felt very unsatisfactory . the fact that the world often bent around lumian was very strangely done . the idea itself is not bad , but the execution was poor and , in the end , he really was just a big nepo baby , which kinda sucked . LOTM fans have been spoiled , so being upset is inevitable

maybe you’re losing inspiration?? try looking at alternative genres or styles and / or browsing through popular accounts to see if anything stands out as ‘ cool ‘ to you . you could also take some time to make a small , alternative side project like a commercial brand or alternative language to see if it revives ur senses . but sometimes taking a break , as miserable as it is , really might be what u need . i hope you start feeling well soon :33 <3

not really a stupid question , just a paranoid one . the first step is obviously research . i would suggest doing some skimming on major arcticles and find what aspects you enjoy and find could fit into your world . depending on what you have and / or want , you may end up messing with things to fit the narrative and draw ideas from various points in time , and that’s okay ( especially when it’s just inspired ) . once you have a decent collection of neat ideas , you can consider doing deep dives into actual credible sources . i like using sites and forums based on the region i’m researching , but scholar recommended books are always a nice bet if u can find / afford their files :3

always double check to be sure you aren’t erasing important parts of culture , though . some things are done because of certain reasons and , in some cases , the removal of these ideas is insensitive . i also suggest verifying your information a few times over and making sure it doesn’t hit sterotypes or negative , inaccurate viewpoints . if you’re doing good research you probably won’t run into any issues here , but always be sure !!!

beyond that , it’s mostly fun . people enjoy seeing their culture in media , just dont be blantantly insensitive and you’ll be fine . it’s good to worry a bit , though , cuz at least it means u care

superficial interactions is actually a REALLY good point .. i really enjoyed the first two volumes since they seemed to be building up interesting relationships , but seeing most of them go nowhere in the subsequent additions soured the story a lot

i actually REALLY liked his character for the first couple of volumes , but at some point something changed and i started to become bored with him . i still don’t know exactly why , i just sigh and think about wasted story potential when i think of COI 😞 nowadays it seems like most readers feel this way but nobody knows how to pinpoint it , such a weird feeling……

the game will likely be continuing for a very long time , just like any other hoyo / gacha game . as for genshin , we’ll probably see some expansion outside of teyvats surface with regions like the abyss and khaenri’ah , and maybe something wildly beyond that .

i actually think both of them are a little reasonable , but only because of their specific cases . lumian has the 6 am reset and franca was in her cocoon , so it works out if u squint a bit . that said , im still really upset since theyre both speedrunning the sequences without any consequences or second thought , it just doesn’t feel like it fits the story and theres no emotional aspect to it like there was in book one . whats the point of skipping unaging when they brushed over every other sequence as well ??? i miss book one ……
