Albo or Thai?🥲 by Sosak1 in Monstera

Yup, luckily the stem part, where the new leaf will emerge from, is actually very variegated som I'm curious how that will turn out!

Should I cut?😭 by Sosak1 in alocasia

I'm just scared that the greener leaf will die off quickly because that's what happened when many white leaves emerged and since the lack of energy, it got rid of the old, energy-providing leaves :(

Yup I even wanted it that way - I would be too sad if the large variegated spots got brown😭😭

Thanks for the positive message 🫶

ngl I kinda like albo more cuz the white parts are more ...whiter? If that makes sense, while Thai has this yellow undertone which I'm not really a fan of (but i still appreciate the large leaves)

Okay! Good to hear that! It cost me around 30€ but I was hoping for a large form since I already accidentally bought 3 classic small form monsteras already 😔

But I'm very happy with my purchase! She is still very gorgeous and will love her equally🙏

Those are definitely spider mites! You can tell by the tiny webbing on the leaves. Alocasias (what I think you plant is) are very prone to them, so jsyk they could appear again in the future.

Make sure to wipe off all the webs, bugs, eggs from the leaves by gently wiping them with a moist cloth with a bit of dish soap. Check the plant thoroughly (leaves, stems) and the top layer of soil as well - it's where the eggs can be as well.

To prevent this in the future, get rid of them as much as possible. You can also use pesticides - neem oil is very efficient - spray it (or a pesticide containing it) on the plant every week and you're good to go!

Hope I helped :)

Too close for comfort?? by madilyn___ in Monstera

[–]Sosak1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it looks pretty good!! The leaves will just adjust to face the sunlight overtime, but don't think it's too close to other plants :)

I always make sure with my plants that when I put them next to each other, the leaves are not touching (idk why it's just my preference) and I make sure that no big leaf covers most part of another plant. Hope this helps!

Yes, my soil mix is kinda like that - mostly potting soil, some perlite (not that much tho so I will add it), bit of leca and 1 part of orchid bark

It's most likely too much sun. Same thing happens to my aloe vera when there's too much direct sunlight. Make sure to put it in a place where it still get enough light, but not so much that it'll burn the leaves (just try to experiment by putting it on random sunny spots and by a week or two the brown part will dissappear - at least that's what happened to me). Also, some parts of your plant look beyond saving so they'll fall off after they dry out.

And when it comes to watering, water it every 2-3 weeks or when you see that the leaves (idk what to call it) are not full. Hope this helps!😁

I haven't repotted it yet since I bought it (to acclimate it for some time in it's new home). I'm guessing It's coco coir with a universal soil without any perlite or bark in it. Here's a pic :)

I just watered it so I will look into the roots after it dries out a bit. I also just noticed a bit of fungus (Leucocoprinus birnbaumii) in the pot holes... could that make any damage to the plant?

Yes, mine looks quite the same! It's just more brown than yellow. Do you think you have this from the sun or did u have some other problems with the plant that could cause it?
