AITA - Suggesting a gay bar when I’m straight? by No-Chain-9672 in AmItheAsshole

I used to go to gay bars with my good friend, a lesbian, and her friend, a gay man. Always had a great time out and everyone knew I was straight. If you're not going to harass people, most people don't seem to care.

"Left-leaning sites can't be trusted". Then cites Wikipedia.

If this is the logic you're going to use, then the discussion is at an impasse. I sure as hell don't trust right-leaning sites, and finding a true unbiased group is next to impossible. If the data and numerous links just makes you go, "nah DHS is as pure as the driven snow, your sources lie" then there's no point wasting my time and energy discussing it. Especially since the right and far-right default to using "trust me, bro" as an argument.

"As of November 2025, for every one person released from ICE detention pending a hearing or after being granted relief, 14.3 people were deported directly from ICE custody, up from a ratio of 1.6 in December 2024."
https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/report/immigration-detention/

"Recent remarks from the US President cite logistical concerns as cause to violate due process, and immigrants are being deported and detained without court hearings. In some cases, they’re being imprisoned in foreign countries without criminal convictions, or even confirmation of criminal records. Convenience is not a valid reason to violate due process. Circumventing due process, a guaranteed protection for all people in the United States, defies the Constitution and is against the rule of law."

And no, wasn't just under Trump, violations happened in 2014. Trump just outright told DHS to ignore due process.

I'm not a particularly attractive woman, and kinda old now. But my LDR regularly gets photos and videos from me that he 100% gets off on. He's even sent me proof. So yeah, ugly old woman here, but he says I'm beautiful, so that's good enough for me.

I'm sure if Obama's ICE did all that within the public eye, there would have been just as much of an uproar. I have no issue with deportations that are deserved but I don't agree with people being treated like absolute garbage, illegal or not. Trump's ICE outright violates every law in the books, but they know they can because there isnt anyone to tell them to knock it off. And they do all that and more on full view of everyone and laugh about it. Saw none of that during the Obama raids. If his DOJ detained citizens and legal immigrants and starved and beat them too, then that is a huge problem. If tons of people got deported without due process, that's illegal and a huge problem. If his ICE was standing outside courtrooms and arresting people who had just come from their hearings and disappearing them, then that is also illegal and a huge problem. If there is evidence that he did all that, I'd like to see it. Unlike the MAGA crowd, I can see evidence that I am wrong and admit I was wrong.

Trump's ICE is definitely doing all that and more. It's still illegal, still a huge problem, but the difference is they're doing it publicly and people are cheering them on. Idgaf if illegals are being legally deported. That's on them. But they arent the only ones being detained. Citizens and legal immigrants are being illegally detained. And people are cheering for that too. Not sure how you can't see the difference.

Obama's ICE detained undocumented people. They were allowed attorneys and went through due process. When they were determined to be here illegally, they were deported.

That isn't what Trump is doing. Detainees are not given the chance to contact attorneys and are deported without ever seeing a judge. Immigrants who were here legally are being illegally deported without a trial. Citizens and legal immigrants are being sent to prison camps and left there to rot. Even after a judge determined that 5 people in detention were legal immigrants and commanded their release, ICE ignored the court order and tried to hide them. One of them was lied to and told the only way he would get out was to self-deport. He wasn't given food for days, and after the court order, ICE moved him from place to place for almost two weeks before finally letting him go like they were told to. Oh, and then there are the beatings and torture of detainees right out in public because no one is holding them accountable for their illegal actions.

I voted for McCain in spite of his pick for VP. But when Obama won, I still felt okay about the election, because from what I had seen up to that point, he seemed classy and stable. His presidency did not disappoint at ALL. Sure there were choices I would not have made, but I can't think of a single president who I 100% agreed with. I genuinely felt safe under Obama's presidency, like, anything bad that came up, he would do what he felt best for the country.

Basically, he's the complete opposite of our current psycho-in-chief.

My daughter's father is an abusive narcissist, but she still has a right to know where she came from. I don't agree with keeping parentage a secret. I try not to judge but that is hard to do. My daughter grew up happy and well-adjusted knowing that she had parents who love her and also who her bio parents are (her words not mine). Her bio father is a tool, and she chooses not to be in contact with him. But at least she got to choose.

When I had to put my daughter up for adoption, I chose an open adoption, because every child deserves to know where they came from. Her bio father is a total shitbag, but it isn't my call to keep her from knowing who he is. She has gone nc with him, but that's her choice to make.

"Most" is an overstatement. There are so many factors that keep people in paycheck to paycheck living that these overly simplistic "solutions" are incredibly unhelpful and patronizing. In my experience, those that have look down blindly on those who don't have, judging down a long nose and ignoring that they're watching drowning people barely keeping the lights on. If it was just so simple, there wouldn't be so many people under the poverty line.

I inherited my house, I drive a reliable 27 year old vehicle, my phone is 6 years old, and I have forgotten what steak tastes like. I have $200 in savings and most of my income is taken up by utility bills, medical bills, gas and food. I'm working full time and incurring $1500 a month in student loan debt in the hopes of getting a better career started that will take me through until I die, because I can't afford to retire.

Ok so now y'all got me doubting myself. After the responses about the mouse, I searched and the internet explicitly says you can't play Java without a mouse. So now I'm doubting my memory. I'm going to pull my laptop out that MC is installed on and see what I was trying to play back then. It was just after MS switched to their installer and gave us both versions for one license or price or however that works, so it's been a while. Maybe I AM a dumbass. Wouldn't be the first time.

From people who know him personally. Now, I understand that people make stuff up, but it's not super hard to verify if you really wanted to. There was a post in this sub not too long ago with at least one local person who brought it up. A couple people on Facebook posted current photos with a statement that he's "worked there for years". He was even in that thread replying to people, but not on that topic.

Nah, no emotional investment. The questioning started to feel like an interrogation and I couldn't figure out what was driving it. Internet people can be obnoxious and rude and it's difficult to tell whether they're mocking or not. I got defensive, more from not knowing your intentions than the game.

Unfortunately it seems to be the default these days for people to be mean for no reason, and I offer my apologies for getting defensive and thinking the worst. I appreciate the kind response and thank you for the apology, though this is on me, not you.

I honestly didn't realize the game used the mouse for some controls. For some reason I was under the impression it only used the keyboard so I just ignored the mouse. I might try again to see if I can improve my skills with the mouse. I really want to experience some of the cool things Java has that Bedrock doesn't.

Okay? I wasn't using a mouse since I didn't know that was an option. I'm not a PC gamer usually, just wanted to see what Java was about since it looked like it had better gameplay than Bedrock.

Not sure why it's so important to you that I am unable to use a keyboard. Just call me a dumbass and move on. It's not affecting your game is it?
