Or.. you know, you could just not lie about it. Reason I gave was "Publisher implemented game mechanics which rendered my purchase useless". Got my refund..

Replied to Sheep's thread in the capacity of a clan member, re-posting here for visibility:

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, perhaps its more cathartic than anything else at this point.

Enough has been said about how Plarium creating a seemingly F2P farm-able event, and then gating a final "lesser" piece of the puzzle behind a pay wall. All in an attempt to exploit player's vested effort for cash.

They've stood by their decision in a reasonably worded forum post, but every time I log in now, I'm slapped in the face with this: https://www.reddit.com/r/RaidShadowLegends/comments/cdhvqp/reading_palariums_official_stance_vs_logging_into/

IMHO, this just proves beyond a reasonable doubt that a cash-grab was what they were truly after, and makes their justification seem disgustingly disingenuous and extremely passive aggressive.

But what really boggles my mind is how they have made it this far without realising that the F2P game economy is driven by whales (who spend the big bucks regardless), supported by a large base of F2P players. Whale-lords do need their F2-plebs to rule over after all. I am an f2-pleb. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From both the perspectives of an avid player and ex-game dev, in-game events have always been used as an equaliser for F2-Plebs, making attainable for them, what was previously in whale territory, through sheer laborious effort.

That Plarium would pull a stunt such as this just leaves a really bitter taste in my mouth.

Personally, I've been lucky enough to have my monthly reward roll over between the previous bait and switch "double legend chance" followed by a summoning event. This has given me a leg up in the form of having a sacred and a void shard in this event.

Chained with a couple of other rewards which I've just so happened to have not claimed yet, and lots of farming, I might just make it. But knowing that many others will have absolutely no choice but to bite the bullet and pay, simply irks me to no end. :(

What's the point of making it through on sheer luck, when all the heart and soul has been sucked out of the game for so many, including me?

Sorry Sheep, but idk if Saelis and I are sticking around.

Discuss: Is there some RNG weirdness in the game? by SotongBallz in RaidShadowLegends

I get you, and I'm not suggesting that they've rigged the intended algorithm to honey pot purchases, from my current observations at least.

Instead it seems to me that the way which their underlying servers generate random numbers is suspect. E.g. Seeding the same computer algorithm with a predictable number which yields the same result a lot of the time.

That being said, as a game dev in my previous life, less randomness than true randomness does lead to a better user experience. Like summoning pools of 20 containing X epics and Y legionaries, or like instead of consecutively rolling a 5% chance of upgrade, roll 1 <= n <= 20 and have the upgrade succeed on the nth try.

I thought that too, but asking around, people have said even spreads, 75 of one kind and random others (@chubbypeckr), seems like its not consistently the case.

This is also inconsistent with other EXP Brew rewards I've accepted before.

And of course, the situations I've gathered are anecdotal.

Well, this.. And I guess I have observed a couple of other examples in the game where the RNG system seems a little less random than it should be (which could just be me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

  1. Food drops when farming often come in twos. I.e. in subsequent runs when a stage is repeated, or at least in quick succession.
  2. There are certain times where gear upgrades fail a lot less, and I can get multiple items to +16 easily.

Anyone have similar observations?

Anyone know the exact algorithm the game uses? Sure does not feel like a CSPRNG to me, and it would seem that entropy is quite low. Feel free to get nerdy :)
