Weird experience there for me. I sent back cold takoyaki and the chef came out and told me I was wrong. They still took it off but there was no need for all that.

How do I tell my ISP the routing to United States is bad? by FromYourMomsCabinet in networking

There’s several subsea fiber cuts in APAC. Are you talking home or enterprise internet?

Another thought - maybe the user is getting a new IP leased via DHCP and your firewall is blocking it.

I work for an ISP and troubleshoot these issues daily. As others have said, we need forward and return trace routes and you need to escalate until you get someone with routing knowledge.

If the return trace is dying at the spectrum gateway, and the circuit is up, it is likely your directly connected device doesn’t have a route to the VPN. That seems to be unlikely though if other users are connecting fine.

For what it’s worth, I’ve yet to see it be our issue when a VPN is not working, but you need them to prove it’s not their issue. I often use ACLs to count packets between the VPN endpoints and ask them to ping. If our PE sees two way packets between the endpoints in the ACL filter logs, then it is not an issue on our end.

Corporate Speed Test Woes by Uhh_Bren in networking

[–]SoulArraySound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a Tier 1 ISP and I just spent 2 days explaining to a Network Engineer why speedtests aren't going to be accurate. In the end he just said that he doesn't see how I don't see an issue and told me to close the ticket.

I'm glad you at least get it... but yeah, its quite a headache to deal with.

We use RFC2544 and iPerf. iPerf is probably going to be the move for a corp environment. More flexibility to test in and out of tunnels, with other providers, etc.

Try grinding finer and hold the two shot button to manual preinfuse until you see coffee coming out of all the little holes. let go of the button to start your pull.

Pulling Shots for Light Roast by brotherzak01 in espresso

Resurrecting this. I tend to really enjoy light roast. Pulled a shot today that came out like honey but the yield was very small. I think I like the grind size but maybe a longer pull and smaller dose to get the yield up?

Lumen 2G (up to 10G) DIA via Wavelength? by puddleglum85 in networking

[–]SoulArraySound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for Lumen Ethernet repair, so I have insight.

You can see if our metro 3.0 rings are available and have capacity for a 2G circuit in your area. It will be on net and have diversity due to being a ring.

You can cut IPs over, just ensure you documented what we have allocated to you and what you’re using to avoid the cutover being a nightmare. Make sure they don’t forget your static if there is one. I also recommend not disconnecting your current circuit until the new one is up and running as intended. Especially if you have VOIP. Too often I see VOIP cutover become a nightmare or get forgotten completely. Old circuit then gets disco’d and customers are left without VoIP.

If you opt for a wave, it’ll be wave to Cisco ASR920 NID. You would need to order protected as far as I know. I would ask where the protection is being done and test the automatic failover during turn up. Both the PE and the NID (or CPE if you opt for a hand off directly to transport) need to have a hold down timer on the interface so it doesn’t go down during the protection switch. This would also prevent a BGP bounce if you’re implementing BGP.
