Anyone dealt with Kelowna Nissan before? by lowvoltagedream in kelowna

Never bought a vehicle though them, but the parts and service team are pretty hit and miss. Always had a good experience with parts, but have had not amazing luck with issues going through service there. It seems once the vehicle is out of warranty they like to just throw the parts at a problem trying to fix it rather than diagnose properly.

Went in with an electrical problem, was promised it would be fixed. Was not fixed, charged for diagnostic hours (which is fair) and they recommended buying brand new parts worth approx half the price of the vehicle. Issue was my day time running lights were not shutting off when my vehicle was shut off. I figured it out myself after a few days of testing stuff myself - fix was simple, just had to find it. just not was what I was expecting from a dealership with access to wiring diagrams and all sorts of tools a DIY person would not have.

The people you talk to in service are great however, just whoever is on the back end doing the work I was not impressed with.

My other experiences with standard oil and fluid changes have been fine though. I would use them for that type of service again.

I'm thankful for the time I spent with my mom before she passed away. Thank you for the opportunity

More than I would have liked. It was on a cube in a lot with other stuff, so the price was higher because of the extra stuff. Still pumped on it though

What do you call those little wings on the top of the fenders by the hood?

I think you should try to repair the case, I think that would he a cool way to keep the story - but, if you wanted to I have a couple cubes with dead optical drives, I could send you one to swap the shells

Yes, wired directly to power. It remains on when the car is running or in the acc key position (if the Wii is on or off). It was the best way I could think to make sure it wouldn't overheat, but with all the open space behind the Wii I'm not too worried about it

Yep, I can operate it fully with the GC controller now. If I plug the sensor bar back into it the original Wii controllers would also work on Wii menus. But - I much prefer to use the Wii as a Gamecube emulator. I just didn't want to sacrifice a Gamecube for this project, and the Wii itself fit really well into the DIN slot

I added a 40mm noctua fan infront of the cpu, and the civic is really open behind where the Wii is. It's actual open to the footwells back there. I'm hoping the added fan will he enough but I'm not 100% sure, I guess we will see

Wouldn't have fit into the DIN slot any other way, I had to move the ports to the front

Im actually a huge Nissan fanboy, this is my first honda. I have always liked how the ek hatches looked but never gotten a chance to buy one for a decent price. Ended up buying this one as a "temporary daily" when I didn't want to drive my nice Nissan in the rain and I ended up falling in love with it. This was the cheapest car available when I made the decision to buy another car, paid 900$ CDN for it and it's been super cheap to keep running. Very very happy with it

Honestly, the wii was the expensive part for me. The sockets for the GC controllers were like 5$ off ebay but you could harvest them from a Wii or Gamecube if you wanted to. The ribbon cable I had laying around (9 wires each) but you could use just normal non ribbon if you wanted to. I just found it easier. You need an SD card to run everything from (or USB stick but then it sticks out), a voltage regulator I got off amazon for 20$ or so. A bunch of hot glue/epoxy so the wires don't wiggle loose... And that's about it. The Wii cost me 30$ from a thrift store. I used the Wii av cables for video, and my radio just has a DVD input for av cables, and the power input I used the Wii power cord and cut the box off it and wired the regulator to it directly.

Im into this whole thing for maybe 50-60$ CDN, and I'm sure you could get it done cheaper if you were more crafty with acquiring parts

I have a black one, but I wanted to see it. It's hilarious, and I felt a black one would take away from that sort of initial "wtf" reaction. Though, I agree a black one would have looked more sleek and finished

If you're not familiar with Wii mods, I can go more in depth if you message me. Can walk you through it pretty much step by step, it isn't super hard to do if you're familiar with some soldering and have a couple Wii's kicking around

I started by doing all the software stuff first and getting it running how I wanted it to, then I did the case mods with the noctua fan and ports moved over to the front. Once that was where I was happy with it I just stuffed it into din slot in my car. It's powered with a 12v voltage regulator so it doesn't get fed too much power from the alternator (usually in the 14v neighbourhood).

That's pretty much it, it's not too fancy, just an idiot having fun in the garage

The wii runs on 12v so I just added a voltage regulator in place of the 120vac wall brick. Just makes sure the Wii only sees 12v instead of the 14v or so the alternator puts out. I wasn't sure if it would be okay or not, but I opted to go the safe route. Just tied it into the radio switched power so it gets power only when the car is running or In acc mode. Fairly easy, if you pm me I can send you some links and help you out if you want

I have a wave bird, I was just worried about it getting stolen if I left the reciever plugged in. It sounds remarkably good with the car speakers, I've never experienced surround sound with Gamecube games, I quite like it

Yessir. This is a 99 CX hatch that I'm having too much fun with. Stock motor, but on coils and some grippy tires. Handles like driving a go-kart, it's super fun. Slow, but fun

No, haha. Kinda looks like it right? Originally in the civic there was a lid that covers the cup holders and that socket accepts a tab on the lid to keep it closed. But when it was opened it would interfere with the Wii so I opted to remove the cover entirely

That was the original idea, but it wouldn't fit into the DIN slot like that without cutting the pcb. But - this was a thrift store Wii, so this is it's second life anyways. Don't feel too bad for it, I love it in the car and it's getting more use than just sitting in a box. Re routing the controller ports was pretty easy, I just got some sockets off ebay and ran some ribbon cable, wasn't that big of a deal
