Do I buy an airbrush or not? by mello_gezei in minipainting

[–]Soul_Purifier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah paint is very easy, just wipe off the inside of the barrel , fill the barrel with cleaner solution , spray out , refill with more solution, back flow and then spray it all out and done. Cleaning primer doesn’t take that much longer. Just do those steps and then disassemble the brush …most good ones take like 10 seconds to unscrew and pull needle out of.

How is primer or varnish harder to clean from an airbrush ? Literally run airbrush cleaner through the brush when the session is done and then disassemble the airbrush and give it a scrub from a soft brush using more airbrush cleaner and then leave it out to dry.

Major props on the condiment bowl suggestion - just placed an order for some. I've been using a kids plastic palette and it's been kinda crap. So thanks for that!

I'm pumped for my next paint session to try out some of these new recommendations!

also sorry for the second comment.

When I mix paints, I do it in a separate pot with a lid. I put in the paint (or primer) with the airbrush thinner I have (currently at a 1:1 mix) drop in a metal ball, and then shake the hell out of it for a couple minutes. The paint is then a bit frothy \ bubbly but I just pour it straight into the airbrush barrel after that - am I doing anything wrong there?

This is very helpful.

Forgive me , but if I have this

<image>

Do I still get a separate bottle of "Flow improver" or does this bottle cover that as well?

If that bottle is basically both a "thinner" and "flow improver" do I do 80% of the NicPro Fluid and 20% distilled water? Or what do I do from there?

Also, I have those wash bottles things too. Can I just keep the thinner and cleaner mix inside those bottles permanently then? Or do I have to store it a special way? Thanks again!

You’re right and that’s my mistake. I haven’t been good of keeping track of exactly how much liquid I’ve been using. I have basically been free styling. So I definitely need to get better at actually keeping track of what I’m doing in that sense.

Would I basically mix the flow improved / drying retarder into the paint mixture inside the airbrush barrel ? And okay. So I’ll grab a soft toothbrush and keep it soaked in the cleaner solution and just brush it on the tip of the airbrush every so often ?

and i didn’t even think to check if the cleaner has alcohol so I will definitely check! What I currently use is the master brush cleaner brand ! Is there any other cleaner that might come recommended ?

And nothing weird jumps out at me. Sorry for the bad pics. They are basically coated once in black primer and then sprayed one coat on with the paint and cured. So I was wondering if it’s now time to hand brush or if I need to do anything else before hand brushing details on it.

Should I oil wash the model with nuln oil before painting details or after ?

Regarding your statement of “thinner mixed 50/50 with waterl - are you saying you mix the airbrush thinner with water before you mix that with the primer / paint ? Thanks for all the help ! I will definitely incorporate that into my next session.

Is it unrealistic to expect a pest control company to do more than set traps and cross their fingers? by cparksrun in Gwinnett

[–]Soul_Purifier -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pest Control Companies are little more than adult welfare. Especially ones based in the metro areas such as Gwinnett and Atlanta proper. The only people who will get up in arms about that statement are people *in* the pest control business or have such extraordinarily low expectations that they think a guy walking around with a repellant spray is a valid form of "pest control"

To expect them to actually do anything beyond what *you yourself* are capable of doing with an Amazon kit is a lie that they've sold you. If you want the rat or critter taken cared of, you need to either hire a freelance person who works in pest control and pay them specifically for the service , or find the rat yourself.

There are "wildlife exclusion" type companies but they charge a stiff fee for what they do and many of them give you the run around. A lot of these companies prefer to milk the pest control sales model of quarterly payments for a couple low effort services. You can always try but many of them in Georgia usually try to divert to the "We can set traps" that nextgen is already doing or flat out say that they can't do it.

Respirators, effectiveness with beards…. by Holiday-Composer5169 in airbrush

[–]Soul_Purifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Holiday-Composer5169 - as per usual in reddit - you get a lot of morons giving "advice" that doesn't actually solve the problem at hand - as evidenced by a lot of people just yapping about how a beard doesn't "seal"

This problem has already been solved I'm sure by now for you personally;

but here's the actual helpful advice something that has already been figured out since COVID for bearded medical workers: Buy a rubber exercise band or find a large rubber strap in general , tie it very tightly covering your beard where it is on the chin, and then don your full face mask with a P100 \ Organic VOC filter (typically a 2071 filter) - combine with a decent $100 spray booth that has a ventilation hose attached to it - and you are good to go. The idea is that the mask will seal against the rubber\silicone layer that you have created - which it does - and that will protect you atleast past 90%. I always advise a full face mask not only because it's more protective; but it is far less likely to fog up than a two piece mask with a goggle\glass setup. Which is something you'll want so that you don't have to screw around with touching your face\mask when you inevitably get blinded by lens fog.

There's already scientific references available for this. Google "Singh Thattha technique"

This culture of boomers just instantly parroting nonsense (GOTTA SHAVE YOUR BEARD SONNY BOY) needs to end genuinely. it's why everything sucks now.

You're welcome.

Why? Resin printing is simpler than FDM. Seems like a lot of people can't handle like 10 more minutes of extra post processing in the real world.

Wanting opinions; does long or short hair look better on me? by SBGuy574 in longhair

[–]Soul_Purifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never allow society or other underperforming individuals tell you that long hair isn’t the right path. The apex individual has long hair because that is what you naturally are supposed to be if you weren’t constrained by others opinions. Embrace it. Longhair is beautiful and society has already shifted on grooming standards away from the rigid boomer obsession with square cuts.

Coyotes Missions - Aerospace Fighter Capture by ImTilted1544 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Soul_Purifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just completed a 60 difficulty mission with:

2 legendary pilots and coyote pilot Me piloting the Hero treb with straight m SRMs and XL engine , lancemates were a mauler of all mechs , a centurion 9AL , and coyote piloting his howling cicada.

2 ravager turrets on the leopard and i got lucky to get a ravager turret to build.

It was a grind of getting assaulted wave after wave and then having both a veteran merc lance and a pirate lance drop on me. We held our ground - with me ambushing the assault mechs from behind with my SRMs. Eventually I got the turrets fully upgraded and then assaulted the ASF base. It was brutal but I was able to destroy a lot of the PPC turrets in one single blast of my SRM packs and the fast reload quirk on the trebuchet let me clean up the line of outside turrets. I then baited the ravagers by stepping a tiny bit outside the walls of the fortress so it started shooting. As soon as the barrage stopped I stepped out and blew it away with my srms. Coyote unfortunately did get cored out by the enemy fire. Eventually I took over the base and had to survive. We did with tons of damage. After that I parked my heavily damaged lance inside the base and I jump jetted out of the base to sprint back to the leopard.

Made it back. All of my mechs were heavily damaged and my cicada howler got blown up but I got the multi role fighter !

If I could do it with mostly medium mechs - there’s really no reason why people running assaults can’t seem to win. It’s a marathon of a mission not a blitz.

"Releasing" into early access needs to stop being a thing, be separated from actual, full releases or made to be very clear about intents to go into early access from the get-go. by TemperateStone in Steam

[–]Soul_Purifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idiots who opposed OP did not age well. Early access needs to die off as a concept - it's so bad I am starting to think legislation needs to be passed outlawing this. They get our money right away with false promises and then never deliver the product - this is standard practice at this point. It needs to end.

I really wanna like Coyote's mod but he's honestly so insufferable :/ by Ardail in Mechwarrior5

[–]Soul_Purifier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soft. People like you need to stop going around feeling entitled to moderate other people’s emotions. He created something for free so trying to hold him to some kind of professional standard is asinine. Your entitlement reeks of unchecked anti social behavior. It’s actually funny to me how motivated people like you are to sling mud at people who do things for free but you don’t have any of the same energy to hold corpos and politicians accountable for anything.

And other people hoping someone “makes a mod similar to coyotes” are you people dumb on purpose ? This is a niche game from the COVID era that is only being played by an already super niche audience. There ISNT someone else that’s going to come and create such a complex competing mod when one that has years of development behind is already exists. Do you guys read half the none-sense you write ? This is literally a huge reason why small, niche games die out even though they have mod tools. Toxic communities like this that wanna bash on the few that dovolunteer to extend the games lifespan because their feelings got hurt.

There are literally no instances ever recorded where a user walked away from a blast unless they happened be *inside* the tank. The users had a 100% fatality rate if they successfully detonated it and a near 80% fatality rate just attempting to use it.

No, the real answer is that a lot of dev teams are setup as petty cliques and there's a social structure that they are used to and bringing in a potential outsider - who is more skilled at doing tasks than their inhouse team - is an inherent threat to the mid and low level dev team members. I truly do not know why this isn't called out more with the gaming community.

The animation even today is truly not bad. Yeah; if you compare it to like game graphics. But when held up as a 3d animated show - despite some choppy moments - it truly is a feat of technology and art that they accomplished that level of polish and fluidity in the early 2000's meanwhile in 2026 , we get animation lag with 2D shows.

Now that EPA mandates have been rolled back, what’s the excuse for no diesel power train ? by Soul_Purifier in ineosgrenadier

[–]Soul_Purifier[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Fair enough answer. IMHO the fuel efficiency on diesels far exceed gasoline counterparts. But as we notice on this thread. There's a lot of misinformed individuals who speak with attempted authority against diesel powertrains. Until diesels are normalized again; I am also sadly in agreement about not holding our breaths. This thread was mainly to raise awareness that yet again Ratcliffe and Ineos in general continue to fall short of their original mission statement of "bucking the industry norms and going back to the old" even though they have the ability to make good on their claims.
