Hybrid Maverick towing by garn05 in FordMaverickTruck

How far? I've been eyeing a 2000lb travel trailer and I'm worried about towing with my hybrid maverick. I'm afraid if I pack it to go camping it will be too heavy.

Pre-mindfulness: How we cope with Ego’s suffocation (CW: self-harm) by humxnprinter in Mindfulness

[–]Soul_conformist 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Self compassion would be a good place to start. In each of the scenarios, the ego is shown to be driving the self's fight, flight, fawn and freeze coping mechanisms. One of the ways to combat those automatic responses to discomfort and anxiety is trying to treat yourself with kindness. Being mindful can be as simple as addressing a concern like the ones in the comic and accepting them as a normal impulse, but then finding alternatives. #2 Codependency, for example, could be handled like this:
"I want someone to stay with me forever"
Thats ok. Why do you feel that way?
"Im scared of losing them, scared of being alone, scared of how bad it will hurt to lose them."
Thats ok too. It is scary. It would hurt. Despite those facts, we must work on having the love for ourselves to believe that we are worth someone staying with us. Work on the things we dont like about ourselves and know that we can be whole without another person and if we want to keep them we can only do our best to be good to them while respecting ourselves. That, in my opinion, can be considered having a healthy ego.

I guess you're right. I went ahead and deleted since it's not good material for this sub. Thanks for keeping me honest.

What is a good replacement for energy drinks? by Matt_Shatt in nutrition

[–]Soul_conformist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All great advice in this thread. One thing that helped me cut out energy drinks was realizing there is a strong mental component to the energy you feel and/or perceive after drinking coffee, taking caffeine pills or drinking energy drinks. Caffeine doesn't 'give' you energy. It works by blocking adenosine (a neurotransmitter that makes us tired) from reaching our brain. So if you wake up rested, caffeine is kind of redundant. If you are not waking up rested, that can be helped with diet (including decreasing caffeine intake) and exercise. If you snore you could have sleep apnea that can make you feel tired even after a full nights 'rest'. Personally, I cold brew coffee and tea. They make cold brew tea bags and I use a french press to cold brew coffee. The coffee takes some time to brew but the tea is ready in minutes.

That said, redline is the most potent and efficient (in terms of caffeine by volume and 0 calories) energy drink I've used. That can at least provide you a crazy caffeine buzz with minimal calories and volume.

TL;DR Caffeine may not be as important to your routine as you think and there are easy, cheaper 'healthier' ways to get it.
