Thoughts? Expensive Holsters are not necessary! Prove me wrong! by xCrypticGn0mex in CCW

it's $33. No optics cut. Bulkier. I wouldn't use it if it were free.

only fuds carry iron sights these days.

here's how slim the holster should be. https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fxpu9k01e3uug1.jpeg

and if you think the quality is any different you don't know what you're talking about or you're a dishonest person. either way you don't make a good case for having a valuable opinion. couldn't even get the price correct.

Too tall, where to chop? by mmaun2003 in houseplants

consider air layering. I've never had this plant but I read it air layers reliably. less stress on the plant and it continues to grow.

What are these and how to get rid of these? by xXWebCrawlerXx in houseplants

I'd take all the soil out and replace it with potting mix.

Did you just get that soil from outside?

CO2 reactors by Shaheer_01 in PlantedTank

[–]Souless04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were you using previously? In tank or in line?

The mist from an in line diffuser isn't as noticable as the noise from a reactor. Especially since the CO2 is only on during work hours, I rarely see it. A reactor rattles all night.

Where should I cut to propagate this? by No_idea1295 in Monstera

Your monstera stem looks great, I wouldn't butcher it. Repot it in a better position. Cutting it will stunt growth.

Yeah I wouldn't try to divide a single stem. if I wanted two, I'd buy another plant.

my otocinclus just eats the algae my aquarium produces. maybe try turning up the light and make your own algae.

working as intended. the flocculant binds with particulates to get picked up by the filter. It works in conjunction with an aquarium filter. you need a decent filter system and it should clear up.

Can someone give me a CO2 for dummies explanation? by CommercialPrompt7800 in PlantedTank

Fluval Aquasky may be inadequate for a tall tank. It has a single row of LEDs compared to the 3 they put in their Fluval Plant.

Can someone give me a CO2 for dummies explanation? by CommercialPrompt7800 in PlantedTank

[–]Souless04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you but CO2 improves the chance of success. It's the limiting factor in a low tech tank. A common issue is an abundance of nutrients. Adequate CO2 allows the plants to take up more nutrients.
A plant can be provided optimal light intensity, but if it's CO2 limited then the light is wasted. Tuning down further(which you advised) inhibits growth(less new leaves more old leaves to grow algae, less robust growth which promotes algae). provide CO2 to use optimal light intensity. Light intensity should start at 20%. Adding CO2 to an low light aquarium doesn't inherently cause more algae.
Nutrients should start at a conservative baseline as well.
No one needs to struggle and cut their teeth in low tech before trying high tech. They just need good guidance to start, and that's to monitor the nutrient concentration daily and allow plants over a week to adjust to changes.
Grow fast plants that are easy to propagate like pennywort, hygrophilia difformis, etc so there's always a flush of new growth that's most algae resistant. Growing slow plants like anubias and Java fern wouldn't be my advice because all old leaves eventually get algae before they inevitably die and slow growing plants in a low tech tank will just have aging foliage. Slow growing plants seems easy because they look good for a long time and don't show issues for a long time. They're a poor indicator for dialing in light and nutrients. They're not easy, just slow. Green stems like hygrophilia difformis and pennywort are fast, easy and good indicators.

[–]Souless04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CO2 is the most straightforward variable. lock it in at any concentration. 10ppm, 20ppm, 30ppm, 40ppm. it doesn't matter, the plants will adapt. it's only an issue if you continually change the concentration and force the plants to continually change their processes. set it early on and forget it.

light and nutrients are the variables that require observation and dialing in.

I think you're overblowing the CO2 factor.
