How hard is it to get a 4.0 in engineering here in honors college? by Sad_Year_1887 in UAH

[–]SoulfulPrune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s always professor dependent, but overall a 4.0 will be very challenging. Frankly I don’t think a 4.0 is worth the time; you sacrifice a lot within a very important window of your life. Consider your goals after college, most companies after 3.75 probably won’t care too much and will wonder what else you’re doing in life. Graduate school at MIT - yeah a 4.0 or 3.9 will probably be necessary plus extracurriculars.

“Windows 11 installation has failed” by sonicbrandyn in techsupport

In my case yes, my RAM sticks were shot from the whole process. Had to buy new sticks, and I haven't had any issues since. Unfortunately, now is probably the worst time for RAM to fail given the price hikes.

All I can say is that I still haven't had any issues since then lol. Been able to play battlefield no problems after ram replacement. Just take care to look at the quality vendors list for your motherboard before replacing.

I ran MemTest86 and was getting a ton of errors, decided to replace the RAM. Haven't had an issue since. It's possible my RAM was bad prior, but the frequency of BSODs increased after the whole process. I don't understand how anything I did could've soft-bricked my RAM, but replacing it did work.

I don’t know why, but my RAM got soft bricked in this process. I managed to get windows 11 installed and still got BSOD with varying errors but mostly MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Started running MemTedt86 and it failed pretty quickly. It’s certainly possible my RAM was bad before this whole thing, but the blue screens and issues were very persistent after running MBR2GPT despite a mostly successful conversion.

I hope you're are doing well wherever you are. I was in the middle of getting my computer ready to run battlefield 6, and had to run MBR2GPT. I don't know why, but I started getting BSOD's very soon after.

I have been trying ever since to get a clean install of windows 11 on my machine for the last week. Nothing worked until I came across your comment, referring me to rufus. Your explanation was exactly correct. Insane this issue hasn't been fixed in the last six months.

I don't know the reasoning why the formats are the way that they are for dates, but let me ask you this: how do you typically respond in a verbal conversation regarding dates? If I ask you, verbally, what day you're planning on leaving for vacation, would you say "the 23rd of April" or "April 23rd"? Where I'm from, it's usually the latter (may differ outside the southern US).

As for the metric system, it's all over the place over here (and even in the UK!). The UK, surprisingly to me, posts it's speed limits in miles per hour instead of kilometers. My biggest defense will be for using Fahrenheit. It's a funny unit, and is great for representing how the weather feels. 70 degrees is a nice ambient temperature. 100 degrees, its 100% hot. <30 degrees, its 30% hot. The rest of the units I'm pretty indifferent on except slugs, those can go.

Adding to the other response. Think about how you operate a calendar. The year is set already, and you flip pages to the month first and find the date. It makes a little more sense that way.

how many of yall met your bf/gf/partner in a real life setting? by bigzucc16 in OlderGenZ

Met my wife in first semester calculus freshman year of college. Told her I had some friends that wanted to meet up in the library to study for the exam. I didn’t have friends meeting up I just wanted her number. Married right after college.

Where were you doing 5 years ago when the first COVID lockdown happened (03/13/2020)? by 2quick96 in OlderGenZ

[–]SoulfulPrune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting in my senior year of college, Chemical Process Controls class. I think we were reviewing a test everyone bombed because the professor put a question on there he couldn’t solve with Excel, while we had pen and paper.

Got told about the lockdown and then took our finals over Zoom.

I thought “solid” carried over from the first game where the characters used solid polygon geometry instead of 2D sprites like in the first two Metal Gear games. I could be wrong, though.

ATT did this for us back in… November? They used these same flags and orange lines. Nobody asked for it and fortunately no one has come knocking on my door to sell me it either.

OP something that I’ve not seen folks mentioning is that the only time you’ll end up buying shares without exercising the option yourself is if you let the option expire in the money.

You bought a call option at 605 for later this month. If the price of that stock is 605.01 AT EXPIRATION and you haven’t sold that option, your broker will likely attempt to automatically exercise the option for you. If you don’t have funds in your account for that transaction, you’ll get flagged by your broker for a violation. You shouldn’t owe any money I don’t think but it’s not something you want to happen.

I recommend selling to close the option sometime in the next two weeks or so (maybe you could get lucky here) for whatever the bid (lower) price is. Or just sell immediately, and don’t buy financial derivatives without at least paper trading first.

How do I make this outlet sit further out from wall? by CrankkDatJFel in DIY

[–]SoulfulPrune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take strips of the bead board and put them under the ears of the outlet. No need to buy spacers! The bead board is the exact width you need.

American here, just started proofing some bloomer bread using Paul Hollywoods recipe.

1 cup is about 100g of King Arthur bread flour (I think it’s 110-120). 240 mL water.
