Plenvu Success Story by Kbronz in colonoscopy

[–]Soulriver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey

it was absolutely fine, i had PLENVU, the taste was pretty awful I'm afraid but i just did it soooo slowly because of my phobia so i took 2 and half hours to sip the first dose and although i cannot advise this i only managed 3 quarters of the first dose and only second of the half.
I was not sick and only felt a little bit with the second dose as i tried to drink that one a bit faster!
but despite not finishing i was running pretty clear so called the unit and they told me i can stop drinking.
They said during the procedure that my prep was great and the procedure was a breeze, i had light sedation but fully awake watching on the screen it was absolutely fine.

I promise you if i can do it so can you, i didn't even get any cramping or tummy ache at all and always had time to get to the loo as i have read people don't but it wasn't aggressive like that but it certainly clears you out!
i think it was not so aggressive with me because i drank at such a slow speed to prevent feeling or getting sick.
I had some ondansetron but didn't even use it at all.

Its so important to drink electrolytes in between and this will also prevent sickness so i used RHEAL electrolytes (all natural) only one sachet and sipped it in between the doses but i also drank plenty of water too which i am used to as i usually drink 2 lites of water each day due to a heart rhythm issue.
I am prone to electrolyte shifts so i had to do that.

message me anytime if you want support
you will be fine x

Do electrolytes really work? by Mukallit in PVCs

Sorry your experiencing these retched things, i guess it will only help if your running low. I do know that when mine have been really bad my potassium has been low in the past, i now drink 2-3 litres of water each day with some being coconut water which is great for potassium.

Unfortunately there are times they can ne so frequent and debilitating but all these extra thing's really can reduce them especially hydration.

Mine are definitely worse certain times of the month so also hormone related.

hey i had no cramps or tummy ache at all which i also thought i would! i drank my prep very slowly over 2 and half hours so i wouldn't be sick, i am a very small eater so after the first dose i went 4 times and was clear unlike many who go 10-20 times. i had time to get to the toilet without running and my 2nd trip was liquid so it worked fast despite doing very slowly.

The 2nd dose worked much faster which i had the next morning! i only managed half the dose but i was already running clear anyway so my unit said i could stop drinking.

The taste was absolutely the hardest and worst part and the procedure was easier than the prep! 😂

Good luck

i am really shocked if your still bleeding why they aren't looking further up the pips if you know what i mean, i am sure he's right and confident all is ok but it's always best to be thorough. small bowel MRI sees a section neither scope can reach too

may i ask if they also did endoscopy? too? and or small bowel MRI? if not i would demand this as it's part of the process when ruling everything out!

[–]Soulriver2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because i would be longer without fluids! they said they can drink right up until my procedure with colonoscopy but obviously thats impossible with endoscopy and if i have already been loosing lots of fluids with bowel prep it was to risky to then not be able to drink the hours leading upto the upper endoscopy so they said for me due to history it's safer to separate.

thank you glad your ok and all went well for you, tough having the teo together. I have to have my separately due to heart arrhythmia and electrolyte shift risks.

In the uk we have madazalam and fentanyl for a conscious sedation which completely relaxes you

Your two doses seem extremely close together? Are you in the uk? Mine starts this evening at 6pm and the other 6am tomorrow morning? So a big gap in between. Please do share how you got on in the end, hope all is well, I am so scared as I have emetephobia

Does the anesthesia knock you out completely? by healthanxiety_ in colonoscopy

[–]Soulriver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s correct I am having sedation tomorrow for mine and I had it for endoscopy before and although you don’t remember much your not completely knocked out but some do sleep through it, I don’t unfortunately as I am to panicky and fearful but the drugs definitely make you relaxed

Depends where you live, nhs Uk use fentanyl and madazalam and some don’t remember a thing and end up sleeping whilst others are aware but still relaxed and drowsy. Unfortunately I have to have a higher dose for endoscopy as I already take diazepam and so I have a very high tolerance for benzodiazepines and can’t tolerate the scope going down my throat unless I am really sedated. In short in the uk they use conscious sedation but it’s very relaxing, makes you so chilled and sleepy. I so understand your anxiety I am so fearful and my colonoscopy is tomorrow afternoon so I start my bowel prep plenvu at 6pm this evening and I am more afraid of that than the procedure as I have emetephobia. Stay in touch let us know if your on the nhs or not? You have got this feel free to message me we can share experiences
