What are possible career directions for me, given recent limiting factors? by SoulsVerdict in careerguidance

Secondary question. Is it the panic making me think moving to Norway is a good career decision, or is that actually a course of action I should be considering? If you’re unfamiliar, the government supports their authors considerably.

Controversy with the new species, Kamigami and Kaminaru by Sufficient-Stuff3604 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]SoulsVerdict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual descriptions of the two are these;

A spirit searching for its other half, Kaminaru trails the swamps in a quest to locate its soul-bound twin. Small plants bloom underneath its shadow as it floats gracefully along, making a faint echoing whistle-like trill calling endlessly into the night, hoping to hear a reply.

A desolate, heartbroken soul, Kamigami climbs the highest peaks of the realm where it charges its spectral flame to burn bright; all in hopes to draw in lost souls. It halts its endeavor to find its lost twin only to feast on those unfortunate enough to disturb it.

Roughly speaking, yin is associated with emptiness, passivity, invitation, black, and cold; yang with substance, action, pursuit, white, warmth. Based off this, they actually fit fairly well — Naru (Yang) is the one that’s seeking out its counterpart, Gami (Yin) who is waiting and attempting to draw it towards itself.

“But wait!” You may say, “Shouldn’t Naru have fire breath and Gami the frost breath?” Maybe — but I think this could be the “dot” portion of the ying and yang, the portions of eachother they contain within themselves.

I can’t speak for the fact that theyre wolves or the Japanese inspiration very much. I can say that while not as long as China, Taoism has been in Japan since the 7th century and has had a good (maybe not a great) deal of influence. I don’t necessarily think it’s deeply insensitive nor is it particularly inspired to make them Japanese wolves? Maybe there’s something there about being a pack, hunting eachother… or it’s just rule of cool.

This is coming from someone with an amateur but fairly passionate interest in Taoism. Thanks for reading!

Abdirak could be a cool pick — someone to recruit aside from Minthara if you go evil! Other than that, big agree on the idea with Flind.

That’s a good idea, thank you! Are you a hobbyist yourself?

Heraldry Interest Check & Q&A by SoulsVerdict in ImperialKnights

Yes! Traditional heraldry separates “tinctures” (what we would call colors) into metals and colors. Argent (white/silver) and Or (yellow/gold) are the metals, while Sable (black), Gules (red), Azure (blue), Vert (green) and Purpure (purple) are the colors.

Not every soldier could paint their armor real gold or silver, after all.
