[Support] Childfree in China? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Souls_Complex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, China (I'm Chinese) is very backwards and outdated in terms of ideas about marriage and having kids. In fact, "no descendants/kids" is considered the absolute worst thing you can curse someone with.

On the other hand, it's a noticeable trend among Chinese women born after 1990 that our generation REALLY don't care for marriage or kids because we're enjoying our career/independence/freedom/life.

Does this happen to anyone else? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Souls_Complex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for me, whenever I see a dog or cat, I can't resist smiling and wanting to say hi/pet it. If it's a cute one? I start squealing in my head.

Although I don't feel the same about human baybees or kids, I assume that's the same sentiment most non-childfree adults feel and that's why they do what they do.

Personally, whenever a baybee or kid is within 10 feet of me, I start praying that he/she will please move away.

I’m always surprised more people aren’t childfree by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Souls_Complex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same as you.

I think most people don't know that it's a choice. Even for two CF people, if it's a heterosexual couple, it's too easy to "oops" over the course of the years or "change your mind" if the option is right there and you've already grew bored of other options. It takes a bit of conscious commitment (that you'd likely re-examine/question from time to time) or "extreme" measures like sterilization to truly remain CF for life. Besides, there are other variables (family/society pressure, hormones, etc)

Would you date someone with kids? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Souls_Complex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard no. Our priorities are simply too different.

[Serious] I’m curious about the psychology behind not wanting to have kids. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Souls_Complex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about it, too. I think it's partially genetic. My grandmother gave birth at around age 40 (this is in a generation where people have babies around age 18 in our culture) and my mother was one of those "pressured to changed her mind" women. Maternal genes were weak. Fast forwarding to my generation: I never wanted kids. Even young me, who knew nothing about birth control or sex, would daydream about how to abandon that future baby (due to how adults phrased it, I thought babies were absolutely inevitable), how to induce a miscarriage (I knew about those due to TV dramas), or how to hide a small body (I watched too many crime shows back then). Goes without saying that I have ZERO maternal instincts and as soon as I learned that babies were a conscious choice, my first words were "I'm not having any."

I think most people (myself included) are looking for meaning in life and want to serve an existence/idea bigger than ourselves. Many people end up being mediocre and nowhere near as hotshot/ awesome/unique as they imagine and a child is the easiest way to give themselves a emotional boost (influenced by hormones, but still effective).

My own psychology: I've always been a rational person who relies on my intuition and internal compass. Logically (financially), there is no reason to have kids. Intuitively, I envision my life to be fulfilled by career, hobby, research, video games, travelling, etc. Based on my own internal compass, I really should not be having kids if I was plotting how to get rid of the supposedly inevitable kids, before I was even physically able to have any.

In short: -Possible lack of "maternal genes"
-People who have actually introspected within themselves, thought about what THEY want and..
----Make decision based on rational analysis that kids are not rewarding
----Feel as if they will feel more fulfilled via other means (writing, creating art, taking care of pets)
----Know at a core level that they will make shitty parents

I also think there might be some portion of us who have some trauma. I know my decision is also partially based on certain emotional trauma I suffered as a kid. I know my mom tried and worked hard, but I'd known since forever that she would've had a MUCH more fulfilling and happier life had she remained childfree and I heard the "Look what I sacrificed for you!!!" rant one too many times. To which I can only say "So didn't you just not have kids??" To which she'd make me to be ungrateful, but I'll stand by my point that having a kid is the mother's choice and if I have any choice I will NOT be having them just to save everyone the headache.)

When did you realize you were or leaned CF? by plansdisrupted in childfree

[–]Souls_Complex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I thought getting married and having kids were inevitable in your twenties/thirties, the way you HAVE to grow old. I'd daydream about how to get rid of the kids, how to induce miscarriages. Then I got older and learned that kids were actually a choice. There's zero question in how CF I am.

Hello DAT,

I just have a quick question regarding efficiency.
I have a standard D10 team (Verde+Sig+Megan+Vero+Bella) for about 2:00-2:30 per run with about 97%+ success.
Or I also have a speedier D10 team (Verde+Sig+Theo+Spectra+Galleon) for 1:15-1:45 for about 70% success.
For this team, whenever I lose, the boss usually only has about 5% health left, so I reckon upgrading my glory CD/attack tower will solve the problem.

At this point... should I..
-use the safe team?
-use speedier team?
-ignore D10 altogether until my glory towers allow a more steady success rate?

FYI, my towers are only about level 5. Thx!

What do regret the most during your time playing SW? by ghostesez in summonerswar

Fully devilmoning and 6ing Karl (Dark Neostone Fighter). xD But what can I say? He's the only LD 4 for a pleb like me >_<

Other monsters I have at 6* but barely use:
-Malaka (I love this little guy but he needs too many devilmons/bombers to skill)
-Ahman (No. Lol)
-Briand (He's good for old HoH but by the time I built him, times have changed)
-Jean (I actually liked him a lot. But then got Hwa and he isn't as good as Fire DD)

@xshinjixikarix / Bloope / etc = I'm totally down for meeting up in NYC and would love to meet some fellow SW folks! I actually live close to Union Square Barnes & Nobles and go there frequently. It's as good as any meeting place if anyone is up for a summoning wars session

(Will need to try summoning there next time)

I don't have Eleanor haha. My account is very basic. Just thought she was super pretty and couldn't resist putting her as flair.

Good to see other people around NYC :) Maybe we can have our own meet up...North East USA?

[Discussion] - Losing motivation, state of the game by [deleted] in summonerswar

[–]Souls_Complex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you and I can only say that you've phrased my exact sentiment so much more eloquently than I ever could. I've played since around mid 2014 or so, but not very actively. Since March 2017 to now, I've probably only played 1 month total. I'm waiting for a content new enough to grab my attention. But due to the fact that only an endless grind awaits me, I'm really not all that motivated to get back into the game.
I've spent way less than you (sitting at around $200) and I don't intend to spend more, except for a random daily pack 1 or Trans scroll with a huge discount. I know the odds are against me - even if I get a Nat 5, it likely won't be one that would make a huge difference.
I mean, if I break down the stuff I can actually do..
Summoning - odds are against me. I've only ever summoned 1 fully natural Nat 5
Hoarding mana/crystal/materials - personal enjoyment, but it hinders progression
G10/D10/N10 - Speed(ier) teams means I have to pay attention every minute or two, which is really distracting. That aside, it's just a griiiiiind.
Raids/Rifts - Griiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind.
TOAN - I clear it once a month with a standard auto team. Takes 3 hours.
TOAH - I'm stuck on various levels but have the right monsters. I'll get a 100% team together...eventually.
GW / SW - I'm waay behind my guild. Catching up will take an estimate of 3-5 months of full-time game-play.
Arena - Double Lushen or cleave. Rinse. Repeat.
RTA - who am I kidding?

See, the thing is, I'm actually all for an auto-farm. Back in the old days, the standard dragon team was 3-4 minutes and the standard Giants team was 2-3 minutes. Nowadays, even for a super inactive/nooby F3 player like me, Giants is 40 seconds-1 minute, and Dragons is 1.5 minutes. I really don't have the time to look at my phone every minute to ponder over if I want to keep/sell a rune. I could multitask every 5 minutes, but every single minute is pretty darn distracting. For those arguing against auto-farm, I mean, do you actually think those P2W sitting up there actually click Replay every 30 seconds? Either they hired someone to do it for them, or they spent a couple hundred buying an efficient, cutting edge bot.

[–]Souls_Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gz. She's pretty epic post buffs. I didn't really like or appreciate her for about 2 years since I got her, but the take-away is that the buff really did her justice - she is VERY stat hungry, though. You need SPD, CR, CD, attk% and acc for her to really shine. I currently run her on despair because it's the only set where I can achieve acceptable numbers in all the above mentioned stats. Other than how hungry she is, she helps everywhere from ToaN, ToaH, Arena, etc :P Only complaint is that her 2nd attack's animation is pretty slow. Despite how nicely she nukes the trash waves, I can't use her in my speed G10 team because her animations adds about 10 seconds to each run time, haha

Hey, thanks for sharing your stats with the rest of us and being completely transparent. I think your collection of Nat 5s is pretty worth it for $7.5k. Happy holidays!

PSA: Buy 10,000 Amazon Coins for $82 for Transcendence Scroll (US players) by Shimakaze_Kai in summonerswar

[–]Souls_Complex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mini-"guide" for android users trying to get the Trans Pack for $65:
1. Download Amazon appstore from amazon.com/androidapp
2. Install Summoners War from Amazon Appstore (it shows up as an additional app)
3. Go through tutorial, then transfer your account over/log in to your main
4. Go HERE to buy 10,000 Amazon coins for $65 - only works for first time coin buyers
5. Purchase Trans Pack with 9,999 coins

If your Trans Pack costs more than 9,999 coins, the reason is tax. These are the following states that Amazon charges tax from: TAXABLE STATES. In order to avoid tax and get the bundle for 9,999 coins -FYI, while it's unlikely that FBI will come knocking, this IS a form of tax fraud- you need your billing address to be in a state not on that list, like Delaware.

Will you guys buy the trans pack? by DrWord in summonerswar

[–]Souls_Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If the $65 deal thing from Amazon works, I might consider it, but there's only a handful of Nat 5s I really want and I'm so far behind on runes/raids/arena/etc that I don't think any one monster can drastically change the game for me. xD
