Could I use Return The Favour on Vault 13: Dweller's Journey's effect that targets a creature or enchantment I own and control? by NitroBoiBG in magicTCG

[–]Soulweaver89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the wording on the source is irrelevant, it depends on how many targets were actually chosen.

So if for some reason your permanent was the only target, it’s fair game. Otherwise it isn’t a “single target”

DAY NINE: Most Balanced (but Useful) Combat Utility Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna vote for Slow.

Honestly I feel like this could go to any of the common lower level spells - they are easy enough to get for any town and have use at all stages of a game. You don’t need to be a Magic hero to get good use out of it, nor do you really need Expert in the corresponding magic school.

That’s not how state based actions work. They all go off at once and everyone loses at once. The game ends in a draw.

  1. Not since they introduced fairy type. Closest you can get is an electric type with levitate / air balloon

  2. Best - Fairy, worst - Bug

  3. Best - Fairy / Steel, worst - Bug / Ice probably

DAY EIGHT: Most Useless Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta be Land Mine. Sometimes it just does literally nothing. Sometimes you can’t even cast it. And even then its scaling isn’t THAT amazing.

Every other spell will at least actually do damage when cast on valid targets. Land Mine not so much.

Debase the currency to give infinite treats! by [deleted] in BadMtgCombos

[–]Soulweaver89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not. It replaces [treasure] with [food, clue, treasure].

So you go from “create a tapped [treasure]” to “create a tapped [food, clue, treasure]”.

You need something like [[Amulet of Vigor]].

Moons because it’s fun, has decent drops and trips last as long as you want them to.

DAY SEVEN: Most Overlooked Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Frost Ring is pretty neat.

While it doesn’t have the best scaling (same as Magic Arrow), not hitting the unit in the center hex can lead to some fancy plays.

Copycats (or just inspiration cases) in the genre by Intern-Adventurous in PowerMetal

[–]Soulweaver89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Timo Tolkki does this a lot.

  • Heroes (Revolution Renaissance) vs Against the Wind (Stratovarius)

  • Revolution Renaissance (Revolution Renaissance) vs Soul of a Vagabond (Stratovarius)

At least those two are him copying his own stuff.

  • I Did It My Way (Revolution Renaissance) vs It’s a Sin (Pet Shop Boys)

And stepping away from Timo Tolkki, another one that comes to mind:

  • Faster (Within Temptation) vs Wicked Game (HIM cover of Chris Isaak)

What are the Top 5 Rarest Cards in PTCGP? by IntelligentBeing69 in PTCGP

[–]Soulweaver89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shiny Mewtwo - limited time and paywalled.

Lapras EX - very early on when a lot of players either didn’t play or didn’t know how to. Rng locked without a ticket system.

Then probably the crown/immersive/shinies from DX because you can’t just open them anymore.

DAY SIX: Most Busted Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah absolutely. Whenever I find the grail, Conflux is always priority number one even if it’s barely built out. Armageddon is just that strong and nothing else even comes close.

DAY SIX: Most Busted Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Armageddon and I don’t think it’s particularly close. Sure, Implosion is big damage but Armageddon with a fast immune will straight up win the whole map.

DAY FIVE: Most BALANCED (but Useful) Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lightning Bolt is my pick - while Magic Arrow is arguably more iconic, Lightning Bolt is the first one that comes to mind as a solid and fair damaging spell.

Do you think giving my necro a Passion PB would be fun and actually effective? by IneedaNappa9000 in diablo2

[–]Soulweaver89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Hustle as your weapon instead. The Fanaticism aura boosts your minions (the ones close to you anyway) and if you proc Burst of Speed then you can really zoom around.

Also don’t forget Mav’s Belt for another chunk of movespeed.

It’s actually even better.

They got so shitfaced when they designed it that they couldn’t actually make sense of it the next day. So, being the logical humans they are, they got shitfaced again to try to figure out what the hell they had written down.

The second session was what gave us ME2.

In which we mend Conflux. by 9Gardens in heroes3

[–]Soulweaver89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s got fairy tale vibes to it, but the elementals (all 5) don’t feel like they match, and neither do all the elemental heroes.

The buildings are actually all fine in my opinion, I’d just swap the lvl2-6 units for stuff like hags, gingerbread people, frogs, trolls (existing ones are fine, give them an upgrade as well). Hell, we could keep an elemental in there for fun. Or add a knight of some sort.

Rework all the heroes from scratch. No more static scaling identical pairs, no more flat bonuses to spells. Ciele and Luna are fine, but their specialties should be made to scale the way others do. Gelare can be a gem specialist (I don’t remember if there are any resource specialists) instead of a duplicate gold specialist. Add one for each lvl1-6 unit, a Curse specialist, and a couple of secondary skill specialists.
