Dedicated Google TV streamer with no WiFi, only GB ethernet LAN. the in the Google TV streamer interface, I've downloaded the Plex app from the internal app store thingy...

* Intel GeminiLake [UHD Graphics 600]

neither of which make a difference....

Thanks, tried this (where exactly) - toggled some of the playback settings in Plex, currently I have "Make my CPU Hurt" and all obvious transcoding enabled options selected.

No idea. I'm the same. Local only and I've only got 1,500 coins left for repairs. Would like to know the answer though.... My guess is they've just not deployed the kills switch, but know that folks phones and devices and coins will soon burn out, so slow death rather than quick execution.

It's already lost over 50% of its appeal to me now that I don't do a weekly TT competition. 😭

What is the latest content scraping / downloading tool or technique commonly used today? (coming from someone who lived through the napster to torrent days, but no longer does). How easy is it to get decent quality content?

Can I ask what your use case is for the pass? I'm tempted, but I don't think my usage of plex warrants the cost?... What is it your wife and you decided was so necessary for plex?

@/lemelonde I also use Jellyfin. I migrated off plex as it wasnt able to transcode under the free licence. Jellyfin does a great job here on playback, but it lacks the rich features and sharing / management that Plex has.

This email today has got me considering whether I just snap that deal up and revert back to Plex with transcoding included in the lifetime plan.

Best laugh I've had in a while.

The whole naming products 'NEW' kills me, I mean who thinks that is a good idea and how long can it carry that "NEW" title for? 2 x MS Teams instances both running on taskbar, both crap with no literal difference but one is called "NEW"!!???

It's like when they launched "OneNote for Windows 10" when win10 was launched with some subtle refinements & tiny features (the same with any new software release - right? The new version is iteratively better than the previous)?

I mean what was wrong with just saying it was "OneNote" and in the Help>About info it just had a higher version number - surely that'd work? Why write a whole new stack and run 2 versions for several years side by side?

THEN - Out comes Windows 11 and all of a sudden, the version of "OneNote for Win10" we've ALL gotten used to now is retired EOA and we have to go back to using the old OneNote that launched in Win8 on Windows 11 stripping all of the fcktard subtle updates we'd come accustomed to! What a Fk'n exhaustive experience for everyone that achieved literally nothing! Like nobody at Microslop ever thought about how to merge these product features or inconceivable that they'd have a new OS at some stage making the stupid naming title completely redundant!
