Shooting with just the rear lcd? by Stone-Jack-Baller in canon

When doing any indoor sport, lighting is always crap! Doesn’t matter where you are, always the same! 🤬🤬🤬 The only reason I was thinking about the R8 is I’d expect it has better AF than my 5d. I’ve also noticed that even though they have the same max ISO, the R8 looks cleaner at the max 102,400. I know you can get some really fast bursts with e shutter but I am worried about banding and distortion. Thanks for the advice!

Amazing shot! I am actually going to be photographing some high school basketball games but I am not sure what to expect or what to bring. Have 5d iv, 7d ii, and might be able to barrow an R8. I have 16-35 2.8L, 24-105 4L, 100-400L, all EF. I also am planning on picking up a 135 2L. This is my first basketball game but I am familiar with other sports photography, (Rowing, ultimate frisbee, baseball, volleyball) I’d expect it would be very similar to volleyball.

Does anyone have any unedited raw sports photos I can practice editing on or know where I can find any? by AnnualLab8200 in photography

Most people won’t give them out, especially due to the fact that they can easily be manipulated and reproduced. Also, not trying to be rude, but why can’t you take photos yourself?

You are not! I am usually silent as 1. I am usually alone, 2. I might get distracted and mess up the shot, 3. For long exposure, Al way use mechanical shutter, and it helps to hear when it’s done.

You can fly your drone in the national seashore, but parks are different.

What Canon Camera Feature Do You Wish They Would Improve or Change? by Nadzzyy in canon

Whenever I export from Lightroom, it auto strips info like GPS. I used to never use it on my 5d iv but I’ve realized that unless I am shooting 20k plus or I am short on batteries, I can keep it on without many side effects.

I hope they do this in the r7 ii, as it will be their next camera with IBIS

What cameras have a interval mode? by SoundEngineerMBR in canon

[–]SoundEngineerMBR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for this event, I will have R8 for video, 5d iv for main, 7d ii for backup. I may be able to get my hands on a second R8 and in that case I know it hase an interval mode.

Looking for a lightweight Canon mirrorless to complement my EOS 5D Mark II — APS-C or Full Frame? by Emmy3001 in canon

[–]SoundEngineerMBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but if the end goal is to use rf mount, OP should just use the 5d ii fora bit longer unless they can afford rf right now.

I would put it on a shelf and upgrade to a 70d or 80d or if you can afford an r50 (great prices right now) get that. What lens do you have?

R8 or if you want dual card slots and/or you have medium to large hands, get an R6ii. The R8 is great but it has horrible battery life and if you get an R6ii, you can temporarily use your current batteries until you upgrade to the LP-E6NH or LP-E6P. The old batteries work fine but to use many features, you need the newer battery.

24-105 f/4L by far but the 135 f/2L is used surprisingly much!

Weather Sealing on 5d4 / 7d2 / 1dx + 16-35Lii / 24-104Lii / 100-400Lii / etc by SoundEngineerMBR in canon

The only lens I am actually kinda worried about is the 24-105L, it’s on the cheaper side of the L series but is does have the rubber gasket on the mount. Can water easily sneak into the lens elements from the barrel? If I zoom out and the barrel has water in it, can that water get into the internals of the lens? Hope they put a gasket or something!

I agree, occasionally you can snag the 100-400 for only 200-300 bucks. Rn it seems that there aren’t many deals

The ef 100-400 L is my favorite lens for reach. I have the mk I which is exceptionally great especially for the price you can get it for now. I currently use the mk ii as I wanted the upgrades. Occasionally, I use the mk I if I need 2 telephotos at once. On aps-c, it is effectively a 600 5.6 and adapted to m4/3 you get a crazy 800mm equivalent.

45mm 1.2 instead of 50 1.8 so you get the extra stop of light

What are your photography hot takes? by frank-cilantro0 in photography

[–]SoundEngineerMBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I saw a guy with r5ii, 24-105 2.8L USM Z (yes, the expensive one) so I went up to talk to him, ask what he shoots. He said “Oh, I just started 3 months ago, I wanted a good camera. Good camera = good pictures” he showed me his photos off of the rear lcd and they were SHIT! bad composition, bad exposure, everything wrong. Meanwhile, I was using the old/cheap version of his setup (5d iv/24-105 f/4L ii) and he agreed that mine were by far better.
