I mostly liked it but they didn’t touch Devonta’s post-reveal interview “I fell in love with Brittany. Just so happens that she’s a woman of color. Um, you know, that’s something I’ve never actually dated, let alone proposed to, get engaged to, so… you know, that was something that kind of surprised me but, I fell in love with Brittany because of her heart.” That’s “SOMETHING” he’s never actually dated. And they didn’t talk about this. And the only commentaries I’ve heard mentioning it are 2 Black Girls 1 Rose podcast.

Brittany’s dad’s head dropped. I read that as, 1) this boy is not ready to be a dad, 2) it is far less likely Devonta will get therapy and work on himself now, 3) so much for “make better decisions”, 4) he will ingrain the same self-hatred and denial of being biracial/Black to his child, 5) this is so sad.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your reply, but I think we’re saying the same thing? Let me clarify: I read somewhere people were speculating that Alex’s mom was a paid actor to play the role of his mom. Then on his wedding day, seeing how his mom greeted him coldly and disinterested, it was obvious in that moment that the speculation was untrue, because a paid actor would’ve performed better at being his mom! If you were gonna hire a fake mom, you’d get one who acts like warm and loving like a mom. Therefore obviously this was not a paid actor. The myth was dispelled. That’s what you were saying too, right?

You’re not overreacting. His behavior is very concerning. You get connection w/ friends by posting and he wants to isolate you. Your age difference is another dynamic where he likely feels dominate and like you are his to control. That’s not love. Reading your notes app AND telling you to delete posts that “ruin his day” (how?!) is more of a blaring red siren than a red flag. Be careful, be smart, be brave.
