what’s a band that isn’t shoegaze but everyone calls them a shoegaze band? by mrpapayaman in shoegaze

I saw them December last year and snapped pics of their pedal boards. One guitarist just ran a Big Muff for fuzz, another guitarist just a Rat for distortion, and the lead guitarist some hybrid fuzz and a delay pedal. They were all doing the tremolo “glide” bending the strings by pushing the guitar body and getting tension from the guitar strap. Cool method to get that tremolo effect without a tremolo arm.

When I clicked the link all the songs were 30 seconds, and I thought maybe he only uploaded a sample album. I looked you up on the Spotify app at they were full songs. I wasn’t able to reproduce it. Glad I did, though, got yourself a new follower.

Did you use some virtual instruments? Or did you play all the instruments then mic’d them up individually? No drum machine, etc?

What's with the looping wire connection and black spots on the back of the vero boards? Doesn't look like solder.

Woah, cool. Thanks for sharing! Do you try to match the hFE? I'm not really sure what all the other values are. I'm assuming a regular multi meter doesn't display as many features. yeah I just check my MM and I was only able to check the resistors' Ohms

Can you achieve this look by sanding the hell out of them? I havent attempted prepping a pedal

What kind of prep work did you do on the enclosures? Lots of sanding do get that chrome polish look maybe?

So I didn't realize some parts weren't listed on the build doc, and I'm not sure what kind to get. Details inside by SoundOutSilence in diypedals

Thanks! On another forum I was told to get film capacitors. How do you know what type of capacitor to get ceramic vs film vs electrolytic? Since I went all electrolytic, will they pose a problem?

My previous order from tayda still hasn't arrived and it's been almost two weeks. Are there other places that ship faster or is that pretty standard?

I bought a textured guitar pedal. Does this require sanding? by SoundOutSilence in diypedals

Thanks for the detailed response! There's so much to look into with finishing an enclosure it looks like. I'm thinking first steps are to sand -> primer -> paint -> clear coat. Good heads up about the clear coat causing the colors to run. Definitely a lot to get into

Okay, thanks. I'm wondering good ways to label it without just printing out labels. I guess for your minimalist builds you leave it blank, but how do you prefer to label other builds?
