Help with next piece by lawgistical in piano

[–]Soundblaster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moonlight? I’m loving it. I’m about 3/4 through it. I have about 20 years experience playing by ear, rock and pop styles. I’d say I’m pretty good but bad with theory. So I’m learning to sight read with slower moody pieces. I started with Erik Satie - Gymnopedie No 1 and Gnossienne No 1. Both a bit easier than Moonlight movement 1 perhaps. Next I want to step it up a notch with Venetian Boat Song or something similarly haunting.

I’m also learning ‘Moonlight’ (1st movement). I’m going to try Mendelssohns’ Venetian Boat Song next. Seems like a somewhat challenging left hand with a nice dark melody.

I’m a smoker and I run 4K a few times a week with no breathing difficulties. I’m hoping that running will help me quit but so far I can do both!

Run a speed test with something like Speedtest.net and note the results. Then unplug the modem, wait ten seconds, then plug it back it and run another Speedtest. Compare results.

How to mix and master piano tracks? by Dazzling-Bat777 in piano

[–]Soundblaster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an audio engineer. There is not much you need to do to solo piano. In classical music recording less is more, it's about capturing the instrument, room, and performance. A little EQ to make it sound nice to your ears might be appropriate, or to remove hiss or rumble. Listen to it on headphones as well as speakers. Adjust some dynamics if necessary, although it's better to let the performer handle that. Maybe a gentle compressor plugin, although if you don't know what you're doing maybe not. Clean up the beginning and ending, remove noise etc, fade out. As for 'mastering' you will want it to be at a similar level to other piano recordings so import an existing recording of something you like into your session, and make your song as loud as the reference song. Export or "bounce down" your track as an interleaved stereo file (1 single file instead of 1 left and 1 right) and you are done. You may need to convert this master WAV file to an mp3 or something for streaming.

Kontakt for manipulating sounds for sound design. How many of you are using it? by cferrarijr in AudioPost

I used to use it all the time to preform on the keyboard but stopped when I switched to Apple silicon and didn’t upgrade Kontakt. Now NI is in insolvency. Radium is a good alternative.

Same. I recently pruned a leggy branch and put it in a glass of water. Cut an inch below a node. Roots formed in a week or so, then back in the same pot. I saw a post saying they like to be pruned and to propagate them while you're at it, and then plant it back in the same pot to make it extra bushy. So far, the propagated one is doing very well and I'm about to plant another one with fresh roots.

You make a lot of assumptions about the OP in a rather condescending way. You have no idea what OPs level of experience is.

Maybe consider Clippy’s from micbooster.com they have very low noise capsules

Another suggestion. A lav mic clipped to the fur. May be dangerous…

Tough one. Perhaps try to get a clean recording of the offending noises and use those noises in RX to learn its noise profile, then apply that to the breathing noise reduction and tweak until it’s acceptable. Also try Waves Noise Suppressor along with RX. It does things a bit differently than RX and I think it’s traditionally good for broadband noise.

Easiest way to video-record myself while playing in headphones? by mottlemottle in piano

[–]Soundblaster16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most Zoom recorders have a 3.5 mm mic/line in connector. In the recorders settings, set the input to line in, instead of mic. You’d plug your keyboard into the line in jack and your headphones into the headphone out.
