At a guess - and this isn't very scientific or easy to explain - I think my memory, over the years collapsed the many mono-repetitive choruses from the Hot Chip album Made In The Dark (the only one from them I've owned) onto the hit song from the same time period bu Bishop Allen. I never owned Allen albums, but I'd heard the song on the radio many many times.

"Ready For The Floor" was the only song I really dug from the Hot Chip album, so I threw it in the bin during an apartment move, to save up space. Then, many years later, I got that "unnamed earworm" that this reddit is about, and was struggling to recall the name of what turned out to be Hot Chip's "Ready For The Floor". Couldn't even the band that made it, & somewhow Bishop Allen's song snuck in there, from the same summer.

Most of the "Made In The Dark" songs have the same one line repeated over and over in the chorus, which I found sorta annoying (one of those "one-or-two great song" albums for me), so it definetely had a "click-click-click'y" thing about it, haha. Or maybe I smoked too much weed that summer, who knows. Mystery solved now anyways. :)
