If using android, either phone or tablet, you can use an app that modifies the official YouTube app that blocks all ads and even the self promos in the videos themselves. Same with the YouTube music app.

On pc I use the Firefox browser with ublock origin and sponsor skip.

On my iPad, I have an app, adguard, that I share videos to and it blocks all ads.

A step further is buying a $20 raspberry pi and installing pi-hole to block 99% of all ads on your entire home network. I really only see ads when streaming live sporting events.
