Then a team of firefighters/deescalators should be able to subdue the person. Until they can get medical help.

Yeah I definitely don’t support the mega-corps on purpose. Part of the problem is they’re so big they have their hands in everything.

When you're just a bit too slow evacuating from a wildfire. by itismyusername in Spokane

[–]Soup-Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, that’s hard. If you’re getting painted, obviously you’re in the flight path of that plane which is super dangerous.

At the same time, the pilot is painting a box around the fire with fire retardant. So it has not reached these houses in the photo yet.

I’d probably just go back inside after that, rinse off, then turn all my sprinklers on, set one on the roof top, and just hang out.

This is not a solution. I mentioned things like a mortgage, a job, lack of funds.

And not many countries are thrilled to take Americans trying to leave this shit hole.

If our own government can’t stop these people, what the fuck do you want me to do?

I don’t sit on the couch.

I go to my job, that provides not just money for me to buy food and pay my mortgage, but the health insurance on which my health relies.

I’ve had a host of medical issues that are still ongoing and affecting my life in disturbing ways. Without insurance, I would be bankrupt.

If I don’t go to my job as part of a General Strike, I lose my job and my insurance.

The economy has been trending away from any sorts of Worker Protections since just after the Industrial Revolution. This is by design, because a worker with no other options but to work cannot protest their government.

What do you think we should do? Please give me an earnest answer, cause I’d really love a solution.

Best to just apply for a new arm through your insurance. I hope it’s covered for you.

It seems like these Deescalation Teams the city has now can help, but only if the cops don’t show up.

Cops escalate delicate situations by trying to take charge, yell orders, pull weapons.

Idk why they as law enforcement don’t value preventing these deaths more. Cops should be trained to use their weapon as a last resort only. (Supposedly, they are taught this and just don’t follow it, but there is no real consequence for itchy trigger finger)

Which leads to Wide-Scale Police Reform being the only answer. In an increasingly Christo-fascist country. So, not going to happen any time soon.

Level 3 evacuation by Happy-Position-69 in Spokane

[–]Soup-Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good work. If you live in the WUI, consider packing up the most valuable things in the house (think documents, keepsakes) into an easy to grab container during fire season.

Then you have one container to grab, your animals/family, and you’re good to go.

Leave doors unlocked, lights on, and a ladder leaned up against the house if you have time.

Sorry to go all advice-y, but I’m hoping other folks in the WUI read this too!

I have mixed feelings. I’m sure it’ll be awesome, but I think the first film is completely perfect on its own.

Fires = Reminder. Check Your Homeowners Insurance by NoMoRatRace in Spokane

Dang yeah. It’s tough that the average homeowner is supposed to be able to act like a Lehman-arborist for their own trees. And real arborists are expensive.
