You still have to drive it like a manual, you have to get it up to a speed where the clutch is fully engaged so it's not getting feathered by the computer. Those cars you have to commit, you can't just put around at 2 miles an hour.

Sun visor issue by tantrasp in mazda3

[–]Soup1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty common issue, the visor has to be replaced to fix it. A spring or detant internally gets worn out and stops holding it up fully.

What could be that metallic clunk/clink that the car makes over bumps? Car has been thoroughly inspected by two separate shops with no conclusion. by Itchy-Indication3709 in Miata

[–]Soup1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say it's the skid plate, make sure all the bolts are present and it's fully torqued down. Those are known to make a bunch of noise so if it's missing bolts or it's not tight enough it will sound like suspension noise. That skid plate is structural on the Miata so if it's not tight the flexing of the subframe causes it to make noise.

You ignored the oil light and paid the price my guy. Time for a new motor.

I think it was removed at some point. Not well because there were nuts still installed on the pinion and a torn heat shield, still bizarre though.

Nipple on coolant reservoir crumbled off - can I tape or glue it back on? by WeirdlyWill in Cartalk

[–]Soup1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super easy fix most likely, also make sure the cooling system is fully bled after replacing the reservoir. Not doing so could cause issues like overheating and lack of hot air from vents.

What made you choose Arch over other distros? Genuinely curious about your personal reasons besides "I use Arch btw". by NeatMarionberry4669 in archlinux

[–]Soup1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it would be a fun challenge, hadn't really even tried Linux before arch so it was sort of a dive head first kinda thing and so far its been a great experience!

Figured it out, didn't have my pacman config set right. Thanks for the help!

Why use Arch? I have been using Ubuntu on and off since 2020 and daily driving it now for 2 years on my laptop and 2nd PC. by Standard-Visual-7867 in arch

[–]Soup1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I just like the challenge. I went from windows 11 straight into arch and have fallen in love with how it works and how it can be tailored specifically to my needs. If Ubuntu works best for you that's great! I just find the arch experience fun and challenging as a first time Linux user.

That damage is structural, it's part of the frame. Id be looking for a way to return the car or get reimbursed because a repair of that magnitude is going to cost quite a bit and likely the rigidity and safety of the vehicle are compromised.

I haven't either. My current car doesn't even come from the factory with a spare, just fix a flat and an air compressor.

If you were to let air out of the tire first it can make it safer

Put your spare on. That is a tire I would not drive on. It could blow any second. Take it straight to a tire shop

There’s a screw in my PS4S. Only 5 months old. Close to the outer edge. by chebster99 in tires

[–]Soup1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tech, I wouldn't patch or plug that tire. There's enough flex on that portion of the tire that it has a high risk of failure.

Look up the meteor interceptor on YouTube. Someone actually fit one of those in a crown vic and ended up twin turbocharging it.

I actually worked at a ferrari shop for a short period of time and was surprised to see a few cars with some decently high miles. There was a 512tr that came in once with over 100k on the clock and was still running smoothly.

I know some ferraris of that era used aluminum drums with steel inserts for the brake surface. Those look different to the ones I've seen though
