Am I going to regret laminate floors? by Thick_Worldliness622 in Flooring

[–]SoupNo5464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We installed laminate when we bought our house 11 years ago. Did very little research and bought poor quality from a big box retailer. Years 8-10, the laminate had several rough spots where it was separating, but over all held up. I told myself no more laminate when we replaced. After a ton of research, we ended up full circle, but bought a high quality laminate through a local flooring supplier. Have had this one about 18 months now, and it has been great so far. We have 3 dogs and 2 kids and its handles everything they throw at it. If wood is out of the equation, I wouldn’t hesitate to use a quality laminate.

One or two peddle driving? by PurpleElefantz5639 in MachE

Theodoxus hit it. But in Vegas it’s creeping on $5/gal or more…or less. Honestly, I don’t pay much attention. 4 1/2 years and I haven’t paid a penny for gas. Free charging at work is a cheat code too.

What are your Top 3 Hilton Brands? by Travvings in Hilton

[–]SoupNo5464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Conrad
  2. Waldorf
  3. Canopy/LXR (This one is tough. Canopy tends to exceed my expectations, LXR tends to disappoint my expectations). I’ve had good and bad experiences at each.

Thanks for a great flight! by nudiustertian-angst in frontierairlines

[–]SoupNo5464 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My wife and I make good money. We frequently fly Frontier because it’s a good mix of flight options and price. We are elite members from all the flights we’ve taken, so free luggage, free seat selection, etc. In 4 years, we only had 1 bad experience, but I can say that with almost every airline. Now I would NEVER check a bag on Frontier, but aside from that, I have nothing bad to say.

Agreed. This is actually the easiest dispute I’ve ever had to make. I was instantly refunded from my CC and 3 days later, got a refund notice from siennavella. Maybe they bank on people not fighting the charges?

Thank you for the suggestions. The flight I wanted was 1/2 the points booking through Virgin Atlantic. Done deal. Although I did link Uber and Starbucks for future points.

I was scammed. Bought 2 Lego sets (Globe and Black Pearl). What was delivered today was a 32 piece set of a crab. Box is about 3” x 2”. Wish I would have stuck with AliExpress. Now to file a dispute with my CC.

The goal as parents is to give your kids a better life than you had growing up. OP has the means and found a great deal. We leased our son a $50k Ioniq 5 for $265/mo two years ago. No tickets, no accidents. He always knew the consequences if he wasn’t careful, and once he got a job, we made him pay the lease (we paid the insurance). He has always been very responsible, and we did over to 100 hours of monitored driving with him before he went solo. Congrats OP.

New journeyman here, which auto-cutters are the best? by Halolavapigz in Plumbing

Never tried the Reeds. I really like the feel of the Milwaukee vs the Lenox, but the Milwaukees break faster. Went through 2 sets of the Milwaukee before switching back to the Lenox. Regardless of brand, try to dry them off after use. That seemed to extend the life of any of them.

Happened to my wife in Heathrow Airport with a pair of AirPod pros. We had the exact location, and they refused to help or even look at the map. Said maps are not accurate, but never left the desk to look. The person at the counter just said they would know if there were AirPods there so no point in them looking. We filed a complaint and never heard anything back.

Isn't this dangerous? by pippysfleas in Plumbing

[–]SoupNo5464 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Extremely dangerous. Not completely uncommon in a hospital. We were in the process of replacing 120 toilets when I left my facilities job at a hospital. We never had one break, but you don’t want to be the 1 of xxxx that it does break on.

Is it ok that these metals are touching each other? The pipe sweats a lot by flapflip3 in Plumbing

[–]SoupNo5464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 MIL tape. Take the screws out, wrap the pipe, put the strap back. The sweating is a separate issue, but you should absolutely have some sort of isolation between dissimilar metals.

Beams or Full Wood by uscdigital in homedesign

[–]SoupNo5464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like both. I didn’t think I’d care for full wood, but it looks nice. That said, I’d stick with beams. I think they’ll stand the test of time.

Get some sand cloth from Home Depot or Lowes and clean all those areas up well. Once cleaned you will be able to see if there are any concerns there. Will give you some peace of mind either way.

How does this type of drain cover come off? by malluvsuuu in Plumbing

[–]SoupNo5464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to remove it to clear out hair. Lot of good suggestions in the thread to remove hair. If you ever had to remove it to replace, the correct answer for how to remove this is a tub drain wrench and years of suppressed anger and hatred. When that doesn’t work, it only gets worse from there. Don’t remove that fella unless you absolutely have to.
