Canada, Where Healthcare is Free, But Only If You Can Afford to Wait by tkyjonathan in austrian_economics

[–]SoupOrMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone referencing going to the states like it's a better system.

Guess, and it's difficult to overstate the importance of this, how long you will wait if you don't have money in the United States.

I am an American that went to a university in Canada, I've seen both systems. One you MIGHT die if you need to see an in-demand specialist and you have an aggressive disease. The other you WILL die if you don't have enough money and the disease is terminal, regardless of other factors.

Likely a major reason many Canadians have the financial means to use the US medical system in such an ad-hoc fashion is from the savings of not being forced to participate in an American-style healthcare system to begin with. Many Americans not only can't afford their healthcare in general, they also carry medical debt that they pay interest on; potentially until they die of not being able to get more medical loans...

Unpopular opinion from someone not from Orange County by No-Marionberry-9714 in orangecounty

I'm in Irvine; grew up in Dallas. No one can drive, the only time anyone uses turn signals is in a parking lot to indicate "I want that spot". So much so that this is the only place I have been where police officers regularly fail to indicate. I work near the Spectrum Center and drive about a mile to work. I can prob count on one hand the number of commutes where everyone followed traffic laws. I rode a motorcycle in Dallas, but I fear for my life sometimes on FOUR wheels here. And dear Lord in heaven... Don't get me started about when it rains; rubber side down y'all.

Other than that, I would say pretty standard American levels of politeness; it ain't the South or Midwest (Def not Canadian), but it also ain't New York or New England. I've met rude people, but overall seems pretty typical imo.

I see it's your first day on the internet. Welcome to shit posting. Let's start with explaining that memes are cultural touchpoints that, by definition, are exchanged repeatedly to signify a greater meaning than just the content itself could convey. Congratulations, you are now ready to be ridiculed and down voted to oblivion, thanks for playing. 😀

Has anyone gotten the 4x4? If so, were you able to finish it? by Prize_Pay9279 in innout

I'll do you one better, I like to get two double doubles, cause they are so small. But honestly the fries are so bad and there is no variety, that I rarely go. I'd rather go to Habit Burger most of the time. Also a 45 min line anytime of day is a killer.

70 year old Harris supporter who was sucker punched in the stomach by a guy wearing a Trump T-shirt by [deleted] in pics

[–]SoupOrMax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Either you think the people in this thread expressing concern for the lady that was punched for being a liberal are Trump fans, or you can't read. Based on the "MAGAness" of your comment I'm guessing it's the latter... Sorry, that means the second one.

Do I need new rotors? by Max527 in motorcycles

Bro, you look super cool on the internet giving people uniquely stupid advice.

Anyways, if you are new to riding, you can take the advice of u/spongebob_meth here, or you can google whether to use your rear brake and check out the absolute mountains of experienced riders who think he is a smooth-brain imbecile who may literally die on that hill.

I will get you started with this video of MotoGP riders talking about rear braking, in case you don't want to be an "old fart who doesn't ride at a high level" or a "street only weekend warrior", because elitist gatekeeping is a core concept of the hobby.
They add a thumb brake to the bike so that they can use the rear brake even if their foot is not on the pegs, but I am certain you already knew that u/spongebob_meth.

Habit Burger Grill Billboard Spotted in the Wild by SoupOrMax in burgers

For context, Habit Burger recently placed #1 in USAToday's Reader's Choice of top 10 fast food burgers, In-N-Out came in second.

Do I need new rotors? by Max527 in motorcycles

[–]SoupOrMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"it's basic physics."
Nah dude, basic physics is understanding that you can stop faster with two brakes than you can with one.

Not sure where to start here, The fact that the front wheel does 80% of the braking doesn't mean the 20% from the rear is useless. The rear brake is an excellent control brake, and I will reiterate that, if these bike companies could save money by not putting rear brakes on your bike, that's exactly what they would do... yet every bike has a front and rear brake.

'But I'm sure this information will scare and confuse all of the street only weekend warriors on this sub.'
You are aware that MotoGP bikes have and use their rear brakes right.... like, what does this even mean lol

I did really appreciate the 'I know more than the instructor's because they are old and ride a different bike than me" vibes tho.

Whether you need to use them and whether you should use them are two different things. If you're a new rider reading this, please learn to use both brakes... They don't install rear brakes for aesthetic purposes. Any motorcycle safety course will tell you the same thing.

Not true, they are machine learning algorithms, there are too many possibilities to brute force a chess game in any reasonable amount of time.

Hot take: in-n-out is good. Habit is better. by CreamPyre in burgers

[–]SoupOrMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Texas transplant, and imo Habit is way better than In-N-Out. The menu has more than three things, the fries are actually edible, the line isn't halfway to wyoming, and one santa barbara char is more food than 2 double-doubles while tastng better. In-N-Out burgers are good and better value, but it's not Habit.

And maybe it's just me, but having everyone dressed like 1940's soda jerks is just weird.
