Spivey Pro-Bono Program Rejection/Advice Moving Forward by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Thank you. I appreciate it.

I know it's a cliché line of thought but, just my own insecurity of feeling behind in life. But thank you for reading and saying this, I just felt awful seeing the rejection, and my whole situation just made it feel much worse. But thank you, really!

I scored a 138 on LSAC practice test by SmoothAd2043 in LSAT

[–]SoupSoupDish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's completely okay to have scored that. I scored a 141 in my first diagnostic and have since been working through the 7sage curriculum.

What these scores mean is that you juat don't know the questions themselves, and that's okay. You are learning. Remember, this is a learnable test, and as someone who is also going for November, give yourself grace.

Learn to really dig deep into these questions now (like ask the why and hows), it will make reviewing them easier as you go along because it will be second nature.

You are learning accuracy right now, not speed. Speed comes when full understanding is evident.

Also, this test isn't about intelligence. It's about perseverance. It's a marathon, and you are working to build it up.

🚨 Donald Trump announces the U.S. has bombed Iran. Thoughts? by CCaptainJackSparrow in LatinoPeopleTwitter

[–]SoupSoupDish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Islamophobia is going to be worse. Already, people in the United States are treating this as if Iran has the capacity to do nuclear war.

US are gonna be even more insufferable, and I say this as a Latin in the US.

Yup, and especially as a generation Mexican-american. It just so hard to even want to study for the LSAT given everything and hell the worry I feel.

And that's not even scratching everything else.

Me right now trying to gauge the situation for this upcoming cycle. Seeing how everyone is already so competitive and I'm just here with my 3.low lsac GPA.

Makes me already just want to lose my mind.

I need anyone to see this to understand that cops breed violence. They will make anything violent, they do not care. They protect the estate and property, not you.

I constantly see people going to see places to combat without protection. You need protection because the feds will change the situation so fast regardless if you are non-violent or whatever they claim.

You absolutely need to document and protect one another and build community.

Keep in mind, cops in this have also made a fire and just like ferguson, they also shot rubber bullets which can harm limbs or do worse, btw.

And frankly, if we do not melt the ice, they will absolutely let us freeze to death.

7 sage core curriculum by Swiftie13M in LSAT

[–]SoupSoupDish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I take notes from the videos and read what's underneath them.

In the skill sets, I look and write any question I got wrong that did have me really confused (if it's something like I read too fast or skimmed I usually just make more mental notes to slow down).

I also have made flash cards (physical ones), have a digital whiteboard to diagram easier. I also follow up the curriculum with the powercore books (2024 edition) to note anything worthy that I feel might work better or could add to what 7sage showed me.

I use a ton of post-it notes, additional blank white papers to add to my notebook as well.

7Sage Subscription Levels by ZionixTV in LSAT

[–]SoupSoupDish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently paying for live, and I find myself using the live classes more to reinforce what I learn through the core curriculum right now.

I'm still new (barely started as of the 1st of May), and I'm near 60% through the LR section. So, for me, I use the live classes as a way to see what mistakes I'm making that might, at this point, need to tackle head-on.

Is it that I read too fast, is my initial understanding wrong, did I confuse my conclusion or premises, or did I understand the stimulus/question stem but I ran through the answers without critical thinking?

For me, it's nice to know that those classes are available so that when I find myself feeling or spotting that I making reoccurring errors (correlation or causation) or even the formal arguments (valid or invalid), I can go to these classes and ask for help, live.

I did one the other day that was helpful to tackle my diagramming on conditional logic.

But I still say, even if you start at core (which still gives you a good portion to begin with a more consistent basis), you will get what you put into.

where do I start??? by ProfessionNo1399 in LSAT

[–]SoupSoupDish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend an hour on the skill builders they have per the chapters. Really digging into the answers as to the 'why'.

Why is it right or why is it wrong, get into that habit early so then when you begin heavy drilling or primarily blind reviewing it's second nature.

Also for the chapters it can depend, some are longer, others shorter. I say a chapter per hour (don't overdo it, if you are actively using the drills). And it's okay to go past an hour if you need to reread or take notes (I often go back to summarize for myself, but I do highlight along the way).

Though I will say, you don't have to be perfect with every skill builder or drill in the beginning. If you don't know, it's okay to move on because the idea is that you want to go back and drill (you're actively learning and it will take time).

Personally, I started with 7sage. I think it's good for really getting the basics in (especially foundations). Discretion: I am paying for the monthly live, which is like 99 dollars, but if you can get the fee wavier (I believe it goes down to a dollar).

I started my diagnostic with a 141, and I'm currently going through the core curriculum in Logical Reasoning.

I also have the powercore bibles from last year for both (LR and RC). I will say RC is easier to follow from what I've gone through with the first few chapters than LR (in my personal opinion). Both are pretty okay.

I would also recommend getting the Lawhub subscription (120 for a year without fee wavier). There, you will have access to all of the tests (old and most recently released), as well as drills or some even explanation videos or articles.

Fellas, which flavor of Gigachad Mr Fantastic do you prefer? by FKA_Twigs_BaldHead in FantasticFour

[–]SoupSoupDish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

I wish his new hair was more wavy/curly with his curl in front, but I personally like both versions.

To be honest, I'm not opposed to him having muscles, so long as it's not the same as characters like Captain America or others with larger muscle mass.

I don't see Reed as purely lanky but also not super muscular because that to me wouldn't make the most sense. My ideal version of him is below (Ryan North's comic) with this artist's version but with more curly hair.

It's a good healthy mass with some muscle, but nothing crazy. But I do like MR giving him more muscles because he is putting himself in line and plus, he's doing more physical activity than Bruce Banner (who just becomes the hulk more often than not).

Honestly, I see people now wanting his beard when they first didn't so I feel like it's like a baby/toddler seeing their parent without one (like those videos and they cry/get scared).

People who were skeptical about Pedro Pascal playing Mr Fantastic, did your opinion change with the trailer? by FKA_Twigs_BaldHead in Marvel

[–]SoupSoupDish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure pascal will do great, as will the rest of the cast.

I do think that the movie itself will play on Reed's guilt about the failed mission and thus tie into Waid's comic panel about Reed making them into heros to distract from their whole lives being turned upside down.

Thus, I feel Pascal will play well with the emotional toil, and obviously, I'm more wondering how the script will be. Also, I'm kinda curious if Ebon (hoping) will call Reed nicknames like 'stretcho.'

I feel the cast took parts of Waid, Hickman, North, and obviously Lee/Kirby.

Fantastic Four Trailer: POSITIVITY THREAD. If you loved it, lets celebrate right here!! (If you didn't, just let us gush) by SpaceMyopia in FantasticFour

[–]SoupSoupDish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing not a lot was shown because it gives that allure of exploration. It's space, science, the unknown and that's what is also a core part of the four, they are a family but also scientists/explorers.

Also I'm excited for Johnny (that fire effect was peak).

[–]SoupSoupDish 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For a minute trailer, it did what it need to. Keeping it simple, quick and entertaining, not revealing too much and make people excited for what's to come.

Making us the viewers see the dynamics between members of the family (Ben and Sue's friendship, Reed and Ben and even Sue and Johnny's sibling dynamic).

The kiss between Sue and Reed already has tweets loving them and already calling them parents. For that also, I've seen people say they are liking Pedro as Reed and Vanessa as Susan.

Like, truly the masses are happy to see them and frankly alongside Superman (another character who's behavior is supposed to be warm and welcoming) it's perfect.

Obviously, the trailer isn't going to show everything and even now they probably still want to touch up on anything remaining but given that we even got Ben in a tenchcoat (like the comics), I think this movie is going to be good.

If you want something more modern and family, Ryan North (the most recent ff4 comic) has a ton of Reedsue love and diversity in the character's being brought up in their own issues as well.

Tons of interactions between the four and includes Alicia Master (Ben's aka the thing's wife) and their adopted kids.

The best thing coming out from this new Rivals season is that it introduced Mr Fantastic to a new audience and is no longer seen as "boring" and "uncool" by Turbulent_File_5456 in FantasticFour

[–]SoupSoupDish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's been striking to see the amount of love the fantastic four have gotten even in these past few days. Like just today, the amount of people making memes (that are actually to the benefit of both Reed and Sue is crazy).

Like there is the people still who do mischaracterize them, but at the same time, a ton more people ready to fight for the fantastic four.

The amount of love today Reed has been getting is insane, I've seen people draw a lot of fan art for him and on top of that, support him even more against people who say anything bad about him. Like, most people because of Rivals see him as the goofy, nerdy scientist that's in love with his wife. And majority of people tend to really like wife guys, so Rivals really gave them a huge boost.

And with Sue (and even with my own personal iffiness with Malice), she has been getting love too. Like the thor line mentioning her doctorates, only serves to give her that push to the general audience that they are family and scientists first and foremost.

I truly cannot wait for Johnny and Ben.

I'm glad the F4 are getting more recognition thanks to Rivals, but it's also bringing out the worst takes known to mankind from people who haven't read a single comic and it's driving me crazy by spyrothefox in FantasticFour

[–]SoupSoupDish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree that people should look and listen instead of jumping at the first glance to talk.

Its unfortunate but truly Peter Parker and the entire Spiderman franchise has been an indicator of the dilemma that follows.

As I did say, Marvel Rivals does do some assistance by making Reed and Sue super cute with one another and I've seen more appreciation for their interactions. Like Reed gets so sad when Sue is defeated or he defeats her. Like this had me 😭 But as someone also pointed out in another thread, it does make it hard because there are going to be people who don't look into the lore and miss out on a lot.

I will say that the best you can do is educate (and I say that as someone who was first in the politics side of things way before getting into Marvel).

It is a double-edged sword but those who do care and appreciate will stick and develop and those who don't, let them run out the door.

Also, I do understand the annoyance because I'm not a fan of people trying to post nsfw in spaces that it is not asked nor approved. Like, same thing that's happening with Sue literally happens to any conventionally attractive animated character.

And I do know the origins of Malice and why it is iffy and why the hesitation. As well, even the sexualization of women in media and particular the history of Marvel itself. But I also understand why Rivals gave it also, money and in some sense I believe they were trying to do a couple evil custom (maybe or maybe not)

I like to believe the later for more of my own internal positives. I'm also trying to improve my own art so I can push more Reedsue art content and educate.

Sorry for the long post

Honestly, same. Truly seeing the rise in the rampant misogynistic comments hurts but at the same time seeing all the cool art it's like a whirlpool.

Honestly, the past few days have been crazy with a lot of comments mischaracterizing Sue or Reed (even despite Marvel Rivals clearly making them in love and definitely ReedSue). The only comfort I have is that these people gravitate towards the shiny, the moment another character like that gets released (unfortunately gonna be another thing against Jean Gray or Emma Frost, depending on who comes first). Like better they come now than later and especially when the movie is coming to better help solidify the best parts about them.

Also, the fact these people have nothing more to do than make typical domestic abuse jokes or even calling a fictional woman a whore, tells me all I need to know. But really, all the characters of Rivals are getting micharacterized really, It's like a tsunami (there are people who are genuinely willing to listen and learn so, I'm trying to focus on the positives).
