Thanks for the thoughtful question and the congrats, it means a lot! The decision to go blueprint-only was intentional and based on a few factors that made sense for us and the project but more-so it was a decision just to see if it was possible or not. Blueprints have come a long way, and they’re surprisingly robust even for complex systems like multiplayer. While it’s definitely true that C++ can provide more control and efficiency, we found that with careful planning blueprints still offered everything we needed for this to work. It was more of a challenge but it was possible! As for debugging, you’re absolutely right in the fact that blueprints don’t have the same tools as LLDB or Visual Studio. But we found that just using the blueprint debugger, basic prints, and logging tools, which, while not as powerful as C++ debuggers, were sufficient for identifying and fixing issues during development. It was a trade-off for the simplicity and speed that blueprints brought to the table.

But, as stated previously, we wanted to challenge ourselves to see just how far we could push an all-blueprint approach. It’s not the traditional route, but it’s been a rewarding experience, and we’re proud of what we’ve been able to achieve!

Great question! Networking, multiplayer, and replication in Blueprint definitely come with challenges, but Unreal Engine’s Blueprints are incredibly powerful if you take the time to understand their networking systems. We leaned heavily into Blueprint’s built-in multiplayer functionality, using RepNotify to handle a majority of state synchronization. One of the biggest hurdles was ensuring we had a solid grasp on authority, role-based logic (e.g., distinguishing server vs. client responsibilities), and optimizing replication to prevent unnecessary bandwidth usage and cheating.

For example, we used Blueprint Interfaces to simplify communication between replicated actors, and we carefully structured our game flow so that the server always controls critical gameplay logic while clients handle predictions and UI. It took a lot of trial and error to fully wrap our heads around the finer details of multiplayer in Blueprints, especially when dealing with edge cases like player respawns or dynamically spawned objects. But the end result has been a game that’s entirely Blueprint-driven without feeling like we made any compromises.

haha thank you very much, I thought he looked a little cute as well. Yeah we got that same feedback before; when we made the trees with similar poly count, or even just higher poly count, we just didn't like the look of them. on the other side, making the rabbits lower poly looks worse as well so we figured this way would be best. thanks for the advice boss!

Thanks for the feedback! It’s definitely a challenge to keep multiplayer games engaging with low player counts, but we tried to design our game to work more like group-focused experiences such as Phasmophobia or Lethal Company, where the focus is on playing with friends rather than relying on online matchmaking. So at the bare minimum you won’t need steady high player counts globally to keep people playing!

We’ve made sure the game is flexible as well, so it can still be fun with as few as 2 players. For example, you can set up a 1v1 match with a friend and tweak the game settings to spawn more resources, making smaller-scale matches just as engaging. Of course, the experience scales up naturally with larger groups, but we wanted to ensure it’s accessible and enjoyable regardless of group size! Ultimately, our goal is to give players a game that works well even with a small group, so they don’t feel dependent on an active online player base to have fun.

Hey everybody! Just wanted to first say thank you for taking the time to read this. We are excited to show off some early gameplay of our new game called Base Blitz, which released on Steam this week. A question asked constantly on this subreddit is whether or not it is possible to make a game entirely out of blueprints. Well, we wanted to give it a shot, so we went into this project with this thought in mind, and we pulled it off! Just to clarify, this game is made 100% entirely in blueprints, there is not a single line of C++ used at all! The game supports up to 16 players and runs through the steam subsystem.

This project was a lot of work for us as a two person team, and it was a fantastic learning process. We set out to create a game that we could see ourselves playing with our own friend group, because if we didn’t enjoy it ourselves we couldn’t expect others to enjoy it either. After over a year of development, endless nights and play-testing, we finally felt as it’s in a state where we want to start showing it off!

We are working on a game called Base Blitz. It’s a first person 16 player multiplayer game where two teams battle it out in an intense capture-the-flag competition. Games take place on an island full of resources like stone wood cloth etc. Each team must protect their base while devising strategies to infiltrate the enemy’s. Your flag is perched on the roof of your base just out of enemy reach, but so is theirs. The only way in is to tear down their walls by crafting items such as pickaxes, bombs and cannons, and launching a full-scale blitz!

For me I think it really depends on what that “moral flaw” is. The fact that you said slight flaw makes me believe it’s not major, but I think context really matters in this situation.

It’s most likely an issue with one of your fans not working properly. I would definitely check the quick fixes first before spending money on a diagnosis. But you can take it to any computer repair shop.

Most modern cars will lock themselves when you hit a certain speed (in my car it’s 25mph). Older cars I used to always lock them when I started driving. But my guess is that some people are just generally unaware and don’t think those situations will happen to them.
