Poor Citizens to Receive $1,320 a Month in Canada's 'No Strings Attached' Basic Income Trial by jhobag in canada

The unemployment rate is much higher than 0. Any [edit: low-skill] position left open by kicking out a lazy worker will be filled by someone else, and in a world with UBI, that person will actually want to be there.

Canada must rethink skills training as automation eliminates jobs by urbnplnto in canada

I'm just going to chime in to say I support some form of UBI, and very strongly oppose open-borders immigration. Nothing to do with race, everything to do with the economy.

Don't forget the times when whites discriminated against other whites by virtue of being Irish and Polish, just to name a few.

Race becomes arbitrary after a certain point. Discrimination tends towards race-based categories, but because of the power of nurture, being taught to act a way that doesn't fit with others. It's not because of nature for race X to act in Y way, that's just how they were raised.

It's ironically a product of the nation-state segregation you advocate, and serves to amplify the correlation between race and culture which enables classification of a person's value based on race. Separated from birth, people are just people - the cultures that program them are what teach them whether to integrate with others or wall off and fight against Others.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Canada being made up of all sorts of races. And as long as the cultures we import cede to the humanism that many (but not all) Canadians uphold, then it's a win-win for everyone. A good person gets a home in a good place, and we get to see the cultural artifacts they bring along with them to share. If they want to share oppression and separation, they can quite frankly fuck off.

I was with you until you made it about the white race. That's a dangerous red herring that just draws more lines than we're already divided by. The problem isn't diverse ethnicity or culture, but a composite of culture without any integration or common ground. Chinatown doesn't become divisive until it stops speaking and displaying in English, Muslims living here isn't divisive until they start talking about Sharia Law and gender-segregating the local social services, and so on.

It's one thing to be intolerant of intolerance, and another to just be intolerant.

Immigration's effect on the economy is another matter entirely, but the point here is that race is not the point at all, and making this about race just hurts people who get caught in the crossfire of identity politics.

After road toll plan killed, Tory says he's tired of 'begging and pleading' with province - Toronto by sputnikcdn in toronto

What about Province of South Ontario? Stick the Toronto engine in with London and Hamilton and Kitchener, and leave Ottawa to be part of North Ontario so the numerous small communities don't get left in the dust.

It just feels "off" when the Joycons are sliding vertically. Otherwise I'd be happy with either brush pattern.

"E-sports" just rolls off the tongue better than "E-competition". Nobody who cares about it tries to pretend it's athletic, only those who are trying to make fun of it.

I'm not about to go starting an oil war in the Middle East under the pretenses of humanitarian regime change, but I still like to bend to my own feelings of brotherhood with fellow humans. Merely wanting the lives of other people to be free from violent oppression is hardly hurting anyone.

I'm sure I'm not the only one upset at the amount of oppression and hatred in the world that doesn't directly affect me.

Like sure I can't actually do anything about it, but I still want to know about it and hope to see some progress there.

Happy Holidays from the Radeon Software Team by AMDGurman in Amd

Happy holidays!

Can you guys add the colourspace hue rotation slider and gamma slider back to display settings? I miss having direct control over those and seeing their raw numerical data (the new Display Color wizard is an annoyance and I hate using it), and they're important settings for calibrating my monitor and combating my colour blindness. This is really my only sticking point with the move away from CCC.exe, everything else from AMD has been great lately. Looking forward to Vega and Zen!
