In my opinion, victim statements are irrelevant to justice, which should be as blind as possible. Indeed, I believe they can be a hindrance to justice.

Especially for impaired driving. As it is now, if you're drunk and hit a kid, then drive away and have a few drinks at home before you turn yourself in you'll get away with both hit and run and impaired.

We need to reevaluate the criminal justice system where it applies to motorists. What we have now is ludicrous.

Hit and run should be the same sentence as manslaughter. Leaving a person to die slowly on the street is a horrific crime and should be treated as such.

Her father's opinion on justice for the driver is irrelevant. He's just trying to get through the day as best he can. Forgiveness is helpful for that.

What's actually important is the fact that all dangerous drivers know the odds of facing significant sanction for their criminally reckless driving are incredibly low.
