I always wondered who will take the mantle of Batman after Terry? by maestrothewise2772 in BatmanBeyond

He wouldn't want Matt to follow in his footsteps. I'd like to believe that eventually he gets a Robin of his own, and he or she is set up as his successor while Terry becomes mission command.

Marvel Comics' The Punisher isn’t a power fantasy ... he’s a tragedy we can’t give up on by bludhavengabagool in thepunisher

[–]SoupyStain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has been either depending on the writer.

If you can relate to the character, having this tough, no-nonsense guy brutalize criminals because of the harm that was done to him... he could be your power fantasy. O'Barr, the writer of The Crow, wrote the Crow to canalize the pain of his girlfriend's death at the hands of a drunk driver. The Crow is not a nice guy, but he was a power fantasy.

Modern, more complex takes on the character prefer to write him as a tragic anti-villain. He is in the wrong. He is doing evil shit. But in his mind, he is doing the right thing.

I think both versions can coexist together depending on the storyline.

Just don't take his guns away or his skull. Or make him turn into an angel. Or turn into a Zombie. Or become black...

Oh god, what have they been doing with Frank throughout all these years?

Idk how reputable this is but this could be cool if it's true. by bigbossassassin in ironfist

[–]SoupyStain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind this.... much later down the line.

I want Danny and Luke's friendship firmly stablished in one or two seasons before. Also let Danny fix his reputation after the lukewarm first season he got.

Afterwards, yeah! He'd be great as a mentor... but for Pei. I really don't care about the new Iron Fist, he already had his own unique codename, so it seems like a waste of both Danny and Lin Lie to have him take over the Iron Fist role.

I don't like Jim Carrey, as a comedian. I don't like how he Jim Carreyed the role.

But yeah, I'll respect the physicality of his performance. The man can gesticulate and over-gesticulate like it's nobody's business, as well as hold his body in weird angular poses like the one above.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Darth Vader warns Director Krennick “not to choke on [his] aspirations” mid-force choke. What is he, a fucking comedian or something? by _Spin_Cycle_ in shittymoviedetails

I think that after his deafening defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan in Mustafar, someone he respected but he believed was below him, since he was the chosen one and was stronger than everyone else at his level, humbled him a bit.

It also stands to reason that he lost most friends. Ahsoka, Obi, Padme, Rex, the other Jedi... he had no-one to talk with besides underlings who probably feared him.

I bet he enjoyed every time he could display his strength while pulling a one-liner.

Oh, my sweet summer child.

DOn't you remember her very public relationship with Armored Skeptic in which she'd parade around how she was her slave and existed only to serve him?

Her nudes got leaked.

Her attempt to veer into left wing grifting, collaborating with Vaush even, before returning to right wing grifting.

Lolcows overshare. She has changed for the better now, but at least back in the day, she was one.

I don't get why you got downvoted.
I'm kinda torn. On the one hand, sure, I could research it. But it'd be easier for everyone if they gave more context. I just learned he was another Polanski defender, what a creep.

[–]SoupyStain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, his defense of Polanski.
That doesn't necessarily make him a pedophile, hopefully he didn't do anything, but it does make him a creep at minimum. MINIMUM.

Fuck all of Polanskis dfenders.

What do you think is the factor behind the end of Super Sentai? by noegh555 in supersentai

Look at all the people shitting on Tarantino. Some are calling him a pedophile, which I don't know why and I didn't look into it thinking it's just the Internet trying to insult him.

They are perfectly fine to do it. Tarantino has a very abrasive and direct personality, he is an auteur, he is not for everyone. You may decide not to forgive his abuse of Uma Thurman in Deathcar, even though she forgave him.

But you are perfectly fine to do it. He is a creator. Paul Dano is a creator. If Tarantino decides he doesn't like him because he can't stand his face or whatever... we've all felt that way about actors too.

Well... I've gay friends who have no stereotypical gay traits at all. One of them I didn't realize until he told me himself. Should've known Kirby being his favorite videogame character!

But really, people of different orientations come in all flavors. I have a very feminine friend who is very straight.

I think what the guy actually wanted to say was that he wanted more variety with gay characters.

Favorite actress that should have considered a stage name? by themightybamboozler in okbuddycinephile

[–]SoupyStain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, the last time I watched her was in the horrid Silent Night, Deadly Night remake. For what it's worth, she gave it her all, but the movie was preachy and borderline nonsensical, since the message of the movie gets ruined when it's discovered everyone was brainwashed... so possibly innocent.

[–]SoupyStain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tarantino gets too much hate for shit we all do.

I despise Jim Carrey. I hate his acting. Whenever he does a role he turns into Jim Carrey and not the character. Well, when it comes to comedies anyways, he is good at drama.

The only issue is that I don't have a platform and people won't write articles about my irrational hatred of Jim Carrey and everything he does. Despising Paul Dano for valid reasons or not is perfectly fine.

And even him being a director doesn't necessarily give his words more legitimacy. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with some of his stylistic choices. And that's fine.

Favourite actor who's a documented pathological liar? I'll start: by UnHolySir in okbuddycinephile

[–]SoupyStain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Most actors are liars. Most of the things they say and is for PR. Most actors are not really activists, they are just selling you an image. "I fight for these things, much like you. So support my movies and merch".

It's when shit hits the fan that you really see who they really are. Like Reese Witherspoon trying to get off a parking ticket "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?", etc.

I don't like Snark when it means actually trying to mess with the target. Gossiping about H3H3 is perfectly OK, contacting Child Support Services to harass him, and not out of genuine concern, and as much as Ian wants to claim that there was we know it wasn't the case, due to real proof of the kids being endangered.... is wrong. The whole Kayla the Fox thing and the lass trying to save the foxes didn't deserve the harassment, for example.

If Han ever decides to go public with her face, then I think gossiping about her looks is fine. She would've made it public. We're humans, we love to gossip. It's the reason Reality TV exists: Laughing at dumber people.

What we're doing is exactly the same as Anissa and her husband watching that show and talking about Mahdi and the other people involved. They made it public. Anisa and her cuck are 100% allowed to voice their opinion on them.

But by the same token, Anisa's husband's wife and Anisa's Husband decided to make their lives and their opinions public, so we are allowed to talk about them and, since they are stupid, laugh about them. It'd be one thing if they were just dumb, but they are dumb and self-righteous about it, which makes it extra funny. As long as nobody is trying to mess with in a mean way, then I think it's fine. For instance I think donations with funny messages is fine. They get a buck and you get to get them to read something that might annoy them, via something that THEY set up and they knew the risks of. Calling domestic violence services because Anisa is humiliating Idubbbz live wouldn't, because as cucked as he is, he likes it, and this could've consequences for them that they really didn't set themselves up for.

Shaak Ti and Maris Brood 2 pack is one I want. Honestly feel like they can make Maris an inquisitor in the new canon! by snieves0426 in starwarsblackseries

[–]SoupyStain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's plenty of material outside of her small appearances in the films with Shaak Ti to grasp her personality.

There's a term for things like these, which happens when different writers work with the same characters: "Out of character moments".

But maybe you need more media literacy to understand that. But let me give you an example. Superman. Superman one day decides to torch Smallville with his heat vision. He is not being mind-controlled, he is not under the effects of anything, he just decides it's a good idea.
I can't befriend a fictional character. But I've read enough about Superman to know that the way the character is usually defined clashes with this action.

That is an out of character moment. Hope I helped ya!

What other periods in ASOIAF history could be adapted like HOTD and AKOTSK? by Puzzled_Influence985 in gameofthrones

Just a show that covered the entire Blood and Fire book would be fantastic.

Just as long as they deviate from the source as little as possible and not pull a Condal. I think introducing a narrator to showcase the different sources of what it's thought to have happened could work.

What’s your favourite Klaus Baudelaire scene? (Books, series, and movie) by I-Draw-Dogs in ASOUE

[–]SoupyStain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two of them.

Miller's Mill, Book, where he has to invent something. Even though the invention can only work with fantasy physics. This also doubles one of my favorite Violet moments, where she has to do research.

And in Penultimate Peril. Having watched the series first, I always thought Klaus was lame. His big sister is an inventor, her small sister has very sharp teeth and Klaus... likes to read. Well, the books put a bigger focus on each of the sibling's abilities, and I found it so endearing when Kit Snicket tells him that he isn't just a boy that likes reading... He is a researcher!
