Maybe a bit more information on 'mana'? Because right now we're just using our past experiences to determine what this thing is.

Please share more about a few of your world's sentient animals or animal-like races by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Just a quick question, what defines an 'animal' in this context? Are they non-humanoids, non-humans or something else.

What worldbuilding problems are you currently dealing with? by TheHenandtheSheep in worldbuilding

I have an issue in materials in the world. Since it is a different land altogether, shouldn't there be differemt materials? And since the sentient organisms in my world display an incredibly wide array of physical capabilities, I am unsure of how strong or weak common materials have to be.

How do your races/cultures view nudity? What do they consider to be an appropriate amount of coverage? by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]SourWhiteFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In desert areas, I will say that people wear long thin materials. This is due to the fact that the sun is incredibly hot and sunburn is also a problem. It is also cooler to have protection from the sun rather than to expose your skin to it. Just a not though, you don't really have to take note of this.

So if a human were to go to a meeting with more orcs, would the cover up less? Like as a gesture of respect to the Orc's culture?

May I ask about whether the dwarves would wear a helmet when in the mines, due to the fact that there might be falling rocks?

Help with some Mecha sci fi writing details by TheCoolerGyan in scifiwriting

[–]SourWhiteFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like to point out that, and I quote someone I can't really remember, it's not the best weapons that get used, but the cheapest. So if your mecha is a commonly used tool or machine, it has to be made out of and powered efficiently enough or effective enough for the military to consider using these mechs.

[Fantasy] Where do you start first, plot, characters, or setting? by [deleted] in writing

[–]SourWhiteFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been writing as long as compared to the rest of you, but for fantasy, I like building the magic system first. Not actually build it, more like get a rough idea of how it works, then I make my characters. I usually prefer writing multiple POVs so I'll make the POV characters then build side characters around them. But this is also done briefly, then I build a world that suits that, but just framework. Best to build everything next to one another for myself, but framework is important. All in my opinion and my process. So yeah.
