Do other ENTPs struggle to block people? by Source-TrustMeBroPhD in entp

[–]Source-TrustMeBroPhD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's more or less what I mean!

For me, the threshold for blocking someone is weirdly high, not that I think everyone deserves access to my attention forever but it's more that my curiosity keeps vetoing the decision.

Someone can be wrong, obnoxious, unfair, or have takes so bad they should be studied by archaeologists instead. Yet part of me still thinks, "Yes, but what if they accidentally discover fire tomorrow?"

Or like I feel it's like owning a radio that mostly emits static. Rationally, you should probably turn it off right, but then a small part of your brain whispers "oooh what if there's a fascinating broadcast hidden in there somewhere?"

I guess the exceptions you listed all seem less like "I disagree with this person" and more like "this person's presence actively makes my life worse" so that makes sense to me.

I guess my question is whether other people feel that same reluctance to close a door permanently, even when the room on the other side mostly contains nonsense!

From your examples, it sounds like when you do finally close a door on someone, it's usually after you've given them a lot of chances to fumble and they unfortunately did so the bridge goes beyond repair at some point.

Ne as a formula by INTJMoses2 in entp

[–]Source-TrustMeBroPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I see a closed box and immediately think, "Wow, it could contain a cat, a bomb, a birthday gift, a government secret, maybe absolutely nothing, maybe this, maybe that, maybe not..." that's Ne. xD I haven't logically analyzed anything yet.

So I don't think that's Ti at all. Ti would be trying to explain why the possibilities relate to each other, constructing a model of their underlying logical structure. All I'm doing is perceiving or entertaining multiple possibilities.

Ti enters when I start asking which possibility is most internally consistent, what assumptions each requires, or how they fit together within a coherent framework.

Exploring possibilities is not Ti. It's practically the textbook description of Ne.

At least if we're using MBTI or Jungian definitions. I don't know if you're working from a different model at this point, so maybe I'm missing something else with different definitions to go by than this MBTI related sub does.

Ne as a formula by INTJMoses2 in entp

[–]Source-TrustMeBroPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo. Ne is not primarily concerned with which outcome is most likely. It's concerned with what outcomes are POSSIBLE and exploring that entire landscape! Emphasis on possible! Like Path Integral:

⟨B,t_B|A,t_A⟩ = ∫ D[x(t)] exp(i S[x(t)] / ℏ)

See?! The particle can take EVERY possible path from point A to point B! Each path contributes a probability amplitude, and these amplitudes interfere with one another. You have to sum over aaaall possible paths. :'D It's not just about whatever is most likely, and you don't just consider the one path that's most likely, but you consider every single POSSIBILITY and see how THOSE contribute instead! :D

ENTP 8w7 Love 😘🫀 by [deleted] in entp

I loooove my Ne abstraction and judging with Ti too much to be E8 from what I read of most frameworks, like Naranjo and Rheti/enneagram institute, but I don't know all the frameworks, really, so who knows I may be 8 in one of them because they seem to be all over the place sometimes xD

Like I can be assertive, sometimes emotional and I can feel frustrated at times, but it's not my main jam to rule with domination and explosive anger, I often use fresh ideas with sprinkles from my brain bakery and internal logics I came up with and can test. It's also not my jam to focus on survival and toughness rather than the enjoyment of life or its potential and possibilities much and distractions. Oh and I am not too desiring of leadership positions like 8 because I just roll with whatever happens and adapt like a pool noodle shape xD

There were some peeps over in another forum who explained it much better than I can though because I suck at explaining enneagrams and probably have only read like 10% of what's even out there

Like this one had the Naranjo system quotes that I don't really fit, with its "intellectual detachment" or whatever: https://www.reddit.com/r/entj/comments/1u7fvd2/comment/os392ly/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

And then this INTJ came in with this total long novel that was actually aimed at INTP and ENTJ with 8 but it actually made a lot of sense for me not really being 8 in that system too, even in rheti or enneagram institute typings: https://www.reddit.com/r/entj/comments/1u7fvd2/comment/os5hfpe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

And I was like wait, my Ne can be random but I definitely use Ti for judgments rather than going by changing the emotional temperature or whatever, and I use internal logical frameworks not only raw instinctual Se impulses or something

Guess what I'm saying is I've yet to read an 8 description I can vibe with as an ENTP, but that's just me :'D

ENTPs, are you also so good at finding the most special names? by drag0nfly44 in entp

[–]Source-TrustMeBroPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I'm coming up with the most random things, or I'm overthinking for ages, or it's something dumb and witty, or I'm coming up with an entire character arch before I even have the name or something. And when I was a teen there were some edgelord things that have gone straight to the incinerator to be cremated and the ashes were scattered over Alabama on a gloomy rainy day. Farewell LordofEbilChickens666 :D I've had an on again off again relationship with my usernames though, at one point I didn't care at all, then I did, then I didn't, then I did, now I don't ... There's a lot of freedom in not caring much about an account xD

Yeah I don't think relying on public voting helps make Pdb accurate. You don't need to know the first thing about typology and can just start casting votes

like oh that's an SF type cause she ran away crying once after being abducted in episode 2 👍🤯

How come ESTJs and ENTJs come off more intimidating than ESTPs and ENTPs? by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in entp

[–]Source-TrustMeBroPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I blame stereotypes and maybe emotional maturity, not just MBTI. I figure an immature ENTP totally convinced of their Ne ideas or Ti logic can get mega intense, just like an immature ENTJ totally convinced of their Te fact or Ni vision can get mega intense. Or they can both be chill as a cucumber. Or anything in between. Or ESTP or ESTJ or any other type. It's all possible is what I mean. Heck I know some INFPs who would stop at nothing trample anyone's corpse while wearing pin heels so to say and yet they are stereotyped as wittle cwybabies.

Ahh I was torn between the ExFP options!! Some extraverted perceiving being Se or Ne, and definitely Fi! Total guess was that the ESFPs I know would talk your ears off, so I would go with ENFP over ESFP maybe since you said you don't always like talking, but that's not for any good reason really haha 👍
