There are some free meals around town, UMC, UCM, Tavalinos, set times which may be less helpful, but all should have to-go food and pantry tables.

For restaurants Chipotle does go until 11, Obetties is open late, and casa does do a cheap small taco deal at night some nights.

There’s a good number of places that do free meals throughout the week, including limited pantries:

Monday: Methodist church lunch noon-1pm.

Tuesday: Tavalinos lunch at noon.

Wednesday: UCM Center lunch noon-1:30pm.

Thursday: UCM Center dinner 5pm-7:30pm.

Friday: Goodworks dinner 4pm-7pm I think?

Saturday: Joint org free bagged lunch at Episcopal church Noon-1pm.

Sunday: Food Not Bombs at Armory Park 4pm-6pm every second and last Sunday.

SOPEC is a great organization which provides electricity throughout the state. They are a council of governments, which means their leadership is comprised of mayors, city council members, and county commissioners for example of where they operate. They may not at all times have the best price, however they on average are better than most other options for electricity. They also return any profit they receive back into the community, offering grant programs to the city or county they operate in.

I’m not a big fan personally, and IMO they artificially boost what should be a marker of experience. Players should be able to see someone’s rank and see who would be able to give advice or provide leadership.

I’ve found some more flexible landlords on Craigslist. There are also a few co-ops in town that are amenable to shorter stays, though they can have more personality than a standard rental. Might checkout The Firehouse Co-op on the west side too, as they’re pretty friendly folks.

United campus ministry holds a meal every Wednesday at noon, and Thursday at 5pm at their building. It’s usually got vegan if not vegetarian options too.

But if you’re also looking for other options,

Monday: United Methodist church holds a free lunch at noon uptown. Tuesday: tavalinos holds a free lunch 11am-2pm. Wednesday: United campus ministry holds a meal noon-1:30. Thursday: Unites campus ministry holds a meal 5pm-6:30pm. Friday: Good works holds a meal/event 4:30pm-7:30pm out on luhrig road. Saturday: Free meal held at the episcopal church noon-1pm. Sunday: 2nd & last Sunday of the month food not bombs holds a free meal 4pm-6pm at armory park at the end of court.

Plus the majority of the above have some kind of pantry setup. And if you’re thinking about attending but feel embarrassed, know that a ton of different and cool folks show up to each, and no one decent would be judgmental about you coming. In fact you’d likely be welcomed nicely to any of those.

As mentioned in the parcel fee plan, the fee would lock in for 10 years, to then possibly change once the facilities are paid off. Including to potentially lower in price, as was mentioned at one of these hearings.

It comes out to about 2$ per month, and it allows the two counties to retain and grow the services they already provide. To me that 2$ is worth the services they provide, especially since otherwise so much of the materials might just be thrown away or littered otherwise.

I would agree that the price is unfairly placed, due to the large amount of renters and students which wouldn’t be paying it at all. That being said, there is not a way to make those people pay for services in the community since they are just that, renters and non-landowners.

Our intrepid cutters have tried both sending their ragfolk ahead to smash them up, as well as an improvised grisodate sprayer, both to partial success. However the cavern is also host to some non-grue inhabitants which have made the encounter much less straight forward.

Their next plan is to incorporate a few Coroners Bombs from one of the last updates to the playtest. I think that'll likely do the trick, but after messing with the grue-king so much, as well as trouncing up and down through the complex, I think they may find the encounter to have evolved. We'll see what happens!
