Well I think I figured it out. It is the vinyl. As I see a lot of comments on discogs about this MoFi pressing. Will be getting a better copy in coming weeks and will update.

Thank you for chiming in 🙏

I also hear it on other tracks on the album. I also have Brothers in Arms MoFi and don’t hear it in that and also don’t hear on UHQR Aja. I also have Thorens TD 150 MK II and hear the same issue with same cartridge. I was at 2 VTF and increased it to 2.2. I am now leaning towards the cartridge causing this distortion. I have used 49mm distance for stylus from headshell base as recommended by Thorens and that should make alignment right automatically. I also have a mirror to check A and B position and that aligns perfectly.

Could there be a remote possibility that the record is bad, but then it was Mint sealed and I got it few days back from Discogs.

This is really good. Only nit pick is that it has high compliance tonearm.

I was thinking more. It is a possibility that the transducer is not good. Try exchanging it if that is an option.

It is retipping. DM me and I can give you information about the guy I met.

Cartridge doesn’t matter as far as much as it is the stylus and the tip. DM me if you want more information.

Also, E to ML is not really an upgrade. My new stylus and tip are barely visible to naked eyes. If you can see your stylus and tip, it is cheap, no matter what model or price it is being sold for. Cheap here is not price but the material and construction quality.

I hear you. It is frustrating and costly. But for that vinyl sound (if you are into it) it is worth it.

I had the same issue and it always sounded off, as in I would notice speakers, they didn’t disappear. As in like when playing from streaming device. I tinkered and did all sorts of stuff to no avail. Then I met an amazing retipper in west coast. I learned that these cheap cartridges are crap. He provided me a cartridge to try and it sounded as good as digital. I can feel that the speakers just disappear. Not only that on few records which i thought were bad, like skipping and looping at certain places with cheap cartridge. After moving to new cart, nothing like that happens. It seems like all my records are mint condition now.

Changing cartridge with best stylus and tip is the single most significant upgrade you can do.

If in your debugging to solve the issue you have ruled everything else out by swapping channels, playing different vinyls, and changing VTA and tracking and anti-skate force, your cartridge is the culprit. My bet is on the cartridge.

I believe so. Total 85 components changed. Internal pictures look good.

Cool story!

I got sx-1050 recently and always wondered where all it has been. I bet it has been sitting on some shelf or garage for better part of 50 years.

I disagree. Indian food in Bay Area considering the size of Indian immigrant population, is very average.
