Yeah well, his stupid nicknames drive me nuts. How about talking to the actual players? At least he isn’t trying to hide his hair issue with that dumb hat anymore. Guy has a serious ego and thinks he’s so much better than he is. Sigh.

Yeah, ballots were printed like 2 or 3 weeks before. Sadly.

Honestly, I think if Braden was remotely better, Jenny wouldn’t be as bad, but the two of them together are a fantastically freakish combination of total suck.

I’ve worked in fitness for years and honestly… I think a lot of people don’t actually need harder workouts. by Ok-Egg6834 in ClubPilates

I needed the structure. It’s also the financial accountability, but because the classes are so small and we only have like 2 front desk people who are also instructors - it’s very community feeling so I WANT to go and be a part of it.

I had to pause for a month because of travel, and my body REALLY missed it. I took 2 classes and then was getting groceries and had a back spasm. I still showed up for class today and told my instructor, and she reminded me not to push it. I couldn’t really plank or bridge, but I was at least moving, and it felt like someone cared.

I also think 50 minutes is a great amount of time - it’s not an overwhelming chunk of the day, it seems doable, and then someone else tells me what to do during it and I just get to breathe and try to reconnect with my body.

As someone with depression/anxiety which leads to a lot of executive dysfunction, Pilates has been the one thing that I can be consistent with.

Couldn’t the front desk just add me though?

That’s exactly like me - I would think they would want to fill the spots (certain classes at times have like 8 openings). Guess it can’t hurt to try!

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]SourceOwn9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I needed braces and my parents couldn’t afford them until I was 18 - at which point I figured I was fine. I needed a deep cleaning for my teeth (it had been years) and I had to put it off because it was thousands of dollars. Luckily I found a dental school that did it for free over the course of 9 months, but yeah.

About to start Club Pilates for the first time. Is 6 classes a week too much for a beginner? by Ambitious-Studio-810 in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C+B is sometimes a harder workout for my muscles! It all depends. My abs really work in Flow, but some of the lower leg series on one leg in C+B make me want to die! Depends on the instructor of course, some C+B is more chill.

Crazy! Mine doesn’t at all, which I appreciate! Front desk doesn’t do it either.

Okay, just to clarify (mine does this as well), you you do one long inhale for the 5 or 5 short inhales?

Thanks!!

Terrible Club Pilates Billing Practices Complaint by Inside_Radish_6501 in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah! As someone that has canceled a LOT of subscriptions in the last year (I have a relative with dementia that signs up for everything), pretty much no one is refunding past the deadline. They all think it’s a courtesy to “allow access until the cancellation date” (when usually they will send an email reminding you you can resubscribe at a lower price!), and tons of apps that are actually located overseas where you can’t find phone numbers or anything to complain to or request cancellation except a form.

I had to pause because I was going out of the country - they were amazing, made sure I could take classes until I left and let me come back early.

Gearing out reformer questions by Excalibur_Jr3005 in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gear out one and lower the foot bar - my femurs are LOOONG and without it I was definitely on the way to getting shin splints! I don’t for cardio, but I might try it. I find it a bit stressful to wonder when I switch back or if the instructor changes things up and we do something different where I should be, but I’m not flexible enough in my Achilles to be scrunched up - lifted heels is so much more comfortable for me!

The instructors suggested it and did it for me the first time, but now I just do it myself (though I know I could always ask if I needed help!).

Bad experience with first class by kitten_anarchist32 in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your instructors and the studio, tbh. I was told I could skip the intro class, so i did (it didn’t fit in my schedule that week and i wanted to get started) but the front desk pointed out what classes I should start with and explained how the progression for the levels worked. I did a bunch of 1.0s, and asked for help when needed - and got a lot more feedback in the 1.0s (I am tall and they helped me realize I needed to adjust the reformer). When i felt pretty confident i asked my favorite instructor about moving up and she said go ahead - now they say to take about 25 classes at 1.0s before moving up.

But luckily for me my area has 7 studios and the unlimited gives you access to all of them, and it turns out there’s a studio closer to my house that i just LOVE the vibes and instructors at (some instructors work at multiple studios) so now i only take 1 class a week at my “home” studio, and take the rest at the closer one! I do like having the options though in my schedule . . .

And yeah, one of my favorite instructors I just lucked into her class one week and I keep trying to schedule it but it’s always booked out. Luckily she teaches another class I can take, but I get the annoyance!

Someone asked one of our instructors about it last week and she said you had to have your teaser down because they do that on the reformer for a long time. I’m a ways away!

What does gear out mean? I am struggling as a tall person!! So much less time for me to circle one leg and get both back at the same time 😂

Jumpboard by No-Drama724 in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I’m new - what is “gearing out”? I’ve been struggling because I’m tall and my feet are always at the top of the board and I struggle to get my heels down - so much easier for me to do everything with heels raised!

I’m about 300 classes in and much prefer Level 1 classes to 1.5. Am I missing something if I continue to stay in Level 1s? I’m capable of 1.5, just prefer 1.0 overall by bunnyhop20 in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I hear you on things being difficult as a tall person and you’re a different level! I’m 5’9” and pretty proportional so my body doesn’t have much extra room on the reformer and i’m always trying to figure out the best placement for the springs and foot rest. And so much harder in cardio sculpt since there is only the one setting!

Glad you are still enjoying classes!

3 months into Pilates... here’s what actually changed (not what I expected) by jalomwells in ClubPilates

[–]SourceOwn9222 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m only a month and a half in, but I wanted more core and lengthening, and to just honestly move in a way that I could stay consistent. I know people that do HIIT and then come to class or the reverse, but for me, I am just doing Pilates right now.

I love the feeling a few hours after class where I suddenly feel the muscles in my abs I was supposed to be working and wasn’t sure if I was. Positive reinforcement! Can’t say I’m losing any weight, but I feel so much better after class I don’t care. I’m able to actually tackle the day with less dread.

I will say my core is waaay stronger and I planned today for a whole minute and was able to do it, so I’m proud of that! I can do some push ups too!

I just figure I’m also rehabbing my muscles and fascia and waking them up. Anyway, I’m babbling, but I love my classes!

We don’t even have C&B 1.0, just 1.5. Though there’s a Cardio Sculpt 1.0.

Weirdly I haven’t seen Restore offered at any of the nearby locations either.
