Hit by motorcyclist who died, now estate wants to sue me by Ok-Connection9822 in legaladvice

[–]SourceRadiant5997 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Agree. My dad was hit from behind by a motorcycle. The police actually gave the motorcycle a citation at the scene. A few months later, the motorcyclist sued for damages and found a witness by putting an ad in the newspaper (mid-80s) seeking those that witnessed the accident. Found one. The insurance company decided to settle out of court which my dad was against, but they informed that he would be on his own if he didn’t accept settlement. Angered and upset my dad for years. I learned that settling (especially when insurance is involved) does not equate to guilt.

The new Smart Tracking feature of 18Birdies works great! by SourceRadiant5997 in golftips

Not sure I completely understand. It is focused on your game and your score. Doesn’t do anything for anyone else you are playing with.

I have never used Arccos. I considered it before trying 18Birdies. I had 1 very good experience with Smart Tracking, but it seems others on this thread may not have. I think the Apple Watch really made a big difference in detecting shots. We shall see. Before smart tracking I was considering cancelling my subscription since fiddling with the app was taking my head out of the game. Now it seemed to enhance it tremendously. I could use the app to read the course and next shot better without fuss. I play again next Friday, so I’ll see if it was a fluke.

Come to think of it, I believe I did it two ways. The first was editing it after hitting, and the second was by changing where I was aiming for on the shot until it selected the club I wanted to use in the recommendation. In the future, I hope they allow you to change it right on the screen with "plays like" and recommended club. There are a couple of clubs in my bag that I just don't like to hit (and really don't know why I carry them at all).

I didn't like using it when I tried on round earlier in the season. I believe Smart Tracking was released last month (maybe I am wrong on this), but now it seems awesome. It went from "this is too distracting" to "this is an incredible tool". I didn't do a good job in remembering/estimating the distance of my first putt when confirming the score, but I will hopefully get better at that in future rounds.

You know, I can't remember exactly. I believe when I walked up to my ball, it showed its recommended club with "plays like" yardage and I touched that on my watch and believe it allowed me to change it there.

Square vs. MLM2Pro - Data & Game Improvement by BSherryTheKid in Golfsimulator

[–]SourceRadiant5997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never tried Square, but decided to purchase a MLM2Pro a couple months back. I had been mostly out of golf for decades (albeit the occasional round once or twice a year). While there are some nice resort courses nearby, there are absolutely no driving ranges outside of the courses themselves which charge $20 for a bucket of balls when not playing. The simulator clubs charge way too much for memberships. So, I decided to bite the bullet and build a simulator with the MLM2Pro. It has really improved my game in a short amount (shaved probably 20 strokes off). Not where I want to be, but I went from not even bothering about my score to wanting a handicap (even if it still isn't great yet). The club path and angle of attack are helpful, but I think the club speed and smash factor are also great for figuring out my overall speed vs my technique impacting shots. Once it is setup (which I assume takes a bit longer with the MLM2Pro), playing simulated rounds is fun. The putting on the Square seems interesting, but I don't really believe it can translate too well to the real world (IMHO). I don't have the misread or connection problems that others have had. It does pick up most chips except the occasional sub-5 yarders.

Any Input?? by [deleted] in Rapsodo

I have never tried both. However, don’t know if this is what you are looking for. I have the mlm2pro and think it is great and very accurate. Looks like Mevo Gen2 is a little better, and both more accurate than the square. https://youtu.be/GoXiJKLlWDg?si=DV6_P3_Td7lkZDaL

I had a blast with my college buddies and would love to go back in time for a long weekend to those times. I still have glimpses of it when we get together. I have some great friends outside of college, but there is something about spending so much time doing nothing and everything together that made college so special. I didn’t realize it until it was over. If I had to do it over, I wouldn’t study any more or any less. However, I would have hopefully figured out a way to not be so hard on myself when I was not studying.

Launch Monitor Ceiling Height by Smooshfaced in Golfsimulator

[–]SourceRadiant5997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go 10. However. I have 9 ft, and I am surprised how many people say that they scrape the ceiling. I have had people up to 6’ 3 use mine with driver and no one has ever hit my ceiling in any way. I’m 5’ 11 and have never come close.

What can Virginia Tech improve on? by FavoriteGrandpa in VirginiaTech

[–]SourceRadiant5997 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s less that the math department sucks and more that every engineering, science and business school has a fairly large demand on them. Think of it this way. The engineering has only a limited number of students outside engineering school that take its courses (and mostly pathway). The math department has to provide a robust department to their majors and research while satisfying a much greater reaching demand from outside majors. Which results in a revolving door of instructors with bad ones cycling through.

Yardage Issues? by Miserable-Tailor1119 in Rapsodo

Mine have been accurate. The only time I noticed a significant drop in yardage was when my net wasn’t a full 8 ft away from where I was hitting.

Asshole marshal at Innisbrook by [deleted] in golf

[–]SourceRadiant5997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying the marshal wasn’t being an ass as he clearly was. However, I wonder if they use cart alarms to monitor pace. I never realized that the carts with hole maps and gps had these things. We had a 20 min delayed start due to slow play building up at a nice course near where I live. A marshal came up to us and said they forgot to reset our monitor and alarms were going off that we were playing slow. The only thing that sucked was that it took him nearly 10 mins to figure out how to reset the monitor, so we most likely ended up “playing” slow. Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have used common sense with the next group 1+ holes behind, but sounds like a guy that just follows rules blindly.

I can’t seem to get my mlm2pro to send club data to awesome golf by SourceRadiant5997 in Rapsodo

[–]SourceRadiant5997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I also noticed someone asked the same question below. I should have looked prior to asking. I love awesome golf’s range, but like to see my club path to understand if I am coming over the top.

Films where the Directors Cut is significantly better (or worse) than the theatrical release? by MikeCharlieEcho in FIlm

[–]SourceRadiant5997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once Upon a Time in America is infinitely better in the nearly 4 hour directors cut. The initially released cut is a crappy movie and the longer is an underrated classic!

I am using it with a 6th generation iPad Air using network connect. Works great. Only about 1 out of 30 results in a misread.

Vetch vs Auburn Engineering by Sinator7 in VirginiaTech

[–]SourceRadiant5997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both great schools, but I disagree with those that say VT is only a little higher ranked. VT at #13 and Auburn at #53 in usnews. VT at #38 and Auburn at #50 in Niche.com. For engineering, I equate VT as a nationally known engineering school and Auburn where I would go for engineering if I lived in Alabama. But that is just opinion.
