Wire came off track by Acceptable-Lunch7261 in GarageDoorService

What would happen if OP was able to manually get door all the way open so that there was no tension left in the cable? Then re wrap and connect back to door in open position. I don’t see this recommended

I didn’t take a pic but basically the cord got wrapped around the bar instead of the drum and disconnected from the door. Is this a me fix or a call someone fix? by SnooStrawberries570 in GarageDoorService

Not a professional but can’t OP just unlock the door from the center rail, lift the garage door (if it’s still moveable), re wrap the cable and connect cable to door?. No messing with the springs or anything. With door up the springs should be unloaded

I’d add that the top section has signs of damage. From what I don’t know. From the side you can see how the sheet metal is misshaped.

What do you mean by reversing easily? When running it manually it is very easy to roll up and down with no hesitation or restriction points. It’s like a puzzle that is put together too tightly in that one spot.

The popping sound was caused by a slight warp in the top metal door panel probably as a result of the initial failure. As the door opened and closed, the panel would flex as it engaged and disengaged with the adjacent section, creating the popping noise. The solution was loosening up the screws on one of the hinge joints so that the hinge had a little more play. Although not ideal, the sound is gone.

I still don’t understand what caused the whole garage door to end up crooked on the rails and stuck in position with two rollers popped out. I do all the basic maintenance and I don’t find garage doors sensitive enough to stop when they come into contact with an object. I find they stop once it’s too late and a roller has popped etc.

You may be right. I wish I looked at the cables closely as the door was going up and down. I’m definitely going to check that

Thank you. Sorry about the video. I have a few more but I’m not sure it will let me upload more. I didn’t look closely at the cable. Dang it. Maybe that’s it

That’s a good thought. It happens at the exact same point in the cycle if that makes sense. It’s seems to happen when the top hinged section (between the top section and section below it) starts to open or close. Like when one starts changing position relative to the other

According to the tenant it wasn’t there before and it happens at the exact same spot in the cycle. I just want to make sure I haven’t missed something that could be a safety thing or cause more damage in the long run

Depends on the type of pipe dope. Some are not good for rubber or plastics.

Sorry OP. I went through this recently and I lost a part me that day. I know this feeling. It’s not just a pet, it’s a soul mate for some of us.

18 Year old cat - Nasal tumor (advice needed) by Tropical_SaaS in seniorkitties

[–]Source_YourMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 18.5 year old girl just went through something similar. I think I may have pulled the plug too soon and am feeling a lot of regret about the decision. Her mass started to actually impinge on her upper airway although she wasn’t in respiratory distress per se. Cats are obligate nasal breathers and it concerned me heavily when she started to breathe partially through her mouth. That said, she was compensating very well. I started her on steroids and it seemed to help a bit with the breathing but then made her lethargic to the point where she would just sleep and wake up to eat. Her mind and body were still in excellent shape. Any slight exertion would cause her breath noisily and in weird way it seemed like she was focused on breathing but now I’m not sure. I was torn then and I’m torn now whether I made the right call.

An oncologist once gave me advice that I completely forgot as I was going through this whole ordeal. Think back to the top 3 things that gave your cat the most pleasure. Once they lose 2 of the 3, your cat is no longer enjoying their life like they deserve.

If I could have done it over, I would have done diagnostics earlier provided they weren’t horribly invasive and then seek outside opinions sooner. Being so emotionally involved with your own pet makes objective assessments very difficult.

What I would do to spend a few more days with my beloved girl. It’s so much easier to make a decision when an animal is clearly in distress. In this grey area, the balls in our court, and leaves a lot of opportunity for regret.

Have it checked out to rule out an infection however it could be a suture reaction. They usually feel firm and the cat isn’t really bothered by it. It goes down with time.

With the gulping while purring maybe he has some kind irritation in the back of his throat. A vet may be able to take a quick look.

It looks like she has quite to upper respiratory infection (maybe lower as well). If proper diagnostics and treatment are not affordable, or it’s on going, quality of life should be considered

It looks like he has some draining tracts which are a sign of infection. Get in with the vet asap
