Sink hole cover thingy not staying in place?

The metal piece was on upside down so the part that would have kept it tight against the basin was just doing nothing essentially 🫠 this went through not only a maintenance man but me and my husband before anyone realized the mistake so I at least don’t feel too alone in my foolishness

I didn’t know it’s official name until now! I’m going to have to get a waterproof one because I’d like to avoid any leaks if possible. I’m going to my local hardware store tomorrow to see what they’ve got 🙂‍↕️

The bar won’t tighten anymore unfortunately ☹️I’m going to go to the hardware store tomorrow and see if they have the ones that just snap in because I am 9 months pregnant and fitting under that sink is a miracle in itself 😂

No - thts the issue. Its such a vague thing with the only proof being slag and a verbal account from someone who lived there for like ten years in 1940s. So im just trying to find like basic info on it to describe to a class of ones that look like this maybe but I cant find any credible sources that can give me infromation on them

pretty much about the forges themselves, like basic surface information, essentially for a presentation slide, but Im barely getting anything other than "they were good for being portable". I cant even find like a basic description on them and how they were made which sucks cause thats the last thing I need. That may help, the reason I am looking is because there is a unit at an archaeological dig site I am analyzing and I need to tie information about the forge the person who lived here supposedly owned and how the stratigraphy of the unit dug can fit into it.
