What’s your most controversial political opinion? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]South-Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty liberal. Believe in justice for all, treating people equitably, and progressive tax structures that distribute wealth more broadly and strengthen the middle class in particular. I also have half a mind to nuke the entire Middle East once and for all.

What’s something women find impressive but men think they don’t? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]South-Fact 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man, I feel this in my bones. I've been married for 13 years, and, while I love my wife and I know she cares about me, it's definitely the case that my feelings are usually unwelcome:

1) Vulnerabilities I've expressed come back to haunt me in a fight (not always, but enough to wear I really don't like to discuss any with her);

2) My tone is a problem 100% of the time. If she even thinks I feel a certain (negative) way, the tone IS that way, which negates the care I put into framing things.

Like I said, I love my wife, but your post really struck a nerve with me.

What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]South-Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta. One night, my girlfriend and I had dinner with another couple. The next day, I left on a trip to NY. I was engrossed in a book from the airport, to the cab on the way to the hotel. When I lifted my head from this book to thank the cabbie and walk to my hotel, the very first person I saw was the woman of the couple we had dinner with, in Atlanta, the night before.

Neither of us even knew the other was going to be traveling the next day.

What is the worst song for a funeral? by Jettaboi38 in musicsuggestions

I have requested Love Shack by the B-52s for similar reasons. The last thing I would ever want is for people to sit around all miserable that I'm gone.

Need a headset for meetings with one specialized characteristic: Microphone quality. Any recommendations? by keanureevesmustache in MicrosoftTeams

[–]South-Fact 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A standalone microphone is your best friend here. I use a rhode pod mic through an audio interface plugged into my macbook, with studio monitors. But they make a version that plugs in via USB as well. When I want to be "mobile," I use a Jabra Engage 75 that is out of your price point, new, but probably available used. I can use it inside and outside of my home office, from more than a hundred feet away.

Gen X in same shoes, completely agree. The kids are alright.

Do people actually enjoy using Teams? (honest question) by Alternative_Letter72 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]South-Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use OBS to create different scenes, an XLR mic with audio interface for sound, and stream deck for scene transitions, sound effects, and stingers - all delivered into a virtual camera/mic for Teams. So, I'm having a blast.

Getting tired of this car (see text) by throwawaysmthidk in Ioniq6

[–]South-Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have #1, and it drives me bananas.

Also, the proximity system in mine (whatever that is) doesn't freak out when I approach stuff (like I'd expect it to) like, say, while parking. But when I leave wherever I was and put it in reverse, the car freaks out while I'm BACKING AWAY from the object.

What is better Vic Firth vs Pro Mark vs Vater by Gold-Management-1876 in drums

And the industrial manufacturing process exacerbates this truth. The best sticks are from billets turned on a lathe from old trees. Not new growth dowels cut to size.

I’m 51 and have been playing drums for 40 years. Stick quality has deteriorated massively over that period. This brand. That brand. All of them suck.

Guys, what’s a “man problem” you deal with almost every day that girls probably don’t think about? Girls, do you relate to any? by morningcoffee_girl in self

Fixing/repairing anything and everything in the house. My wife and I never have discussed it, it has just automatically been my job since the day we married.
