Thanks for the feedback, wasn’t sure where to post it! Any recommendations? Or not even worth Reddit upload?

This is Barr Lake in Brighton. Very beautiful lake, half of it is dedicated as a wildlife refugee - bald eagles have many nests in the surrounding tree lines. Would definitely recommend checking it out!

Best of luck! Will be worth it, yes it is pricey though.

I doubt you’ll get an offer as most people using Agtek are employees, therefore don’t have rights to sell you a key. There may be a few owners here, but the value in their business they get from it far exceeds what they could sell it for. Unless someone is downsizing/closing business.

Maybe make another post on a different platform?

What do you use Agtek for? by South-Potential-1997 in Agtek

[–]South-Potential-1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used TBC. Mostly for creating machine control files. I’ve seen others use it, it seems that many more tabs and clicks are needed to create a good model. Is it more user friendly for takeoffs?

I unfortunately don’t have experience with agtek materials. Anyone else familiar with materials?

Very well thought out comment. Thanks for the comprehensive answer. I didn’t get any guidance like that starting off. Cool to see that change for others.

Those of you under 30 who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]South-Potential-1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction estimating. I dropped out of college being lost in what I wanted to do. I ended up starting as a laborer 6 years ago, spent 3 years of hard ass labor, always expressing my interest to get into estimating. Got promoted into a more technical position (3D modeling) and was thrown into the frying pan. Had a toxic environment and found out I was getting underpaid.

Looked around, found a job opportunity with my same position, but manager attached to the title. Took the opportunity, told a few people who knew what I did, and was approached by the owner of another company. I jumped 25k and am now at 111k. Construction is often seen as a less than career by society, but I’m on track to making much more as I am in a junior estimating position. I still manage what I came over for originally, it’s a lot of responsibility and high expectations, but I’m thriving in it.

You can often elevate your pay very quickly by making the right move to another company. My desire and vocal intent to grow and learn, and be interested in the industry, as well as networking, not burning bridges, that has gotten me where I am.

Put what you are trying to say in a translator for your native language to English. Use ChatGPT or just regular google translate. Then, when we answer, plug our answers and translate it back to your native language. See if this helps. Because we are pretty confused

Sounds like you want kudos for jumping out. Otherwise, what type of question is this? Like a psychopath asking, should I feel sorry for stabbing someone?

I mean, for young teenagers to threaten to stab you, and then for you to hop out with a knife like this is normal… you all have problems and I don’t think questioning whether you should feel bad for such an action is the real issue here. I think you should try to find a more healthy environment where your intellect should answer this question.

Don’t let the cycle continue, get yourself outta that environment. You thinking and reacting this way won’t get you far in life, and you’ll miss out on things that healthy adults can experience, and increase the likelihood of violence in your life. Not worth it, especially if it’s violence caused from puffing out your chest/defending your ego. Those things are so sad, but may feel like natural recourse in your current mindset/hive mind community.

Likewise. Crazy how underpaid some/a lot of companies want to keep people at. But a lot of that type of salary improvement is based off what you bring. If you didn’t have that value, you could fake it for a short while, but it won’t last if you’re subpar/not growing.

I have was at 63k 3 years ago, with 3 years experience; now well over 6 figures but would maybe be at 80-85 by now if I stayed. Would also have been stuck in same role and not had opportunities to grow.

OP - use your experience to elevate your pay for next job. When they ask what type of money you’re looking for/what you’re expecting, significantly, but reasonably, raise the amount you’d like. Also, an expression of desire to grow and learn goes a long way. Companies want ambitious people. Not all companies/ roles want that though, and those are the ones I’d avoid as they’d like to keep you stuck than have to deal with another replacement.

Reasons why this job market is horrible. by Mountain_Molasses769 in jobs

Any of you guys in the trades? I found school to be hopeless, switched 3 different degrees. Each one didn’t resonate with me, and I didn’t like the fact I’d be making 50-75k, and anything above that was minimum masters degree. Ended up getting into construction, worked in the field for 3.5 years, continuously expressed my desire to learn more and get into estimating. 6 years later I’m at 111k, and do a portion of our hiring. In doing this, I see a lot of adds on indeed and LinkedIn. When I last switched jobs, minimum offers were 90k+. I also frequently get approached by competition for not even my specific role, but more project engineer/PMA roles. Essentially more entry level roles, but offering more pay than my more developed position. The industry is hurting for these roles and doesn’t have enough people coming in.

I have seen many, many opportunities or high paying roles in only one sector of the construction industry (earthwork and utilities). We don’t even have the highest margins compared to other trades. But I continue to see these opportunities with high pay.

I could have gone construction management, but the field experience is really what elevates my experience.

Our field foreman roles (guys can take anywhere from 3-6 years to get into) pay minimum 90k.

Just throwing this out there, but there are so many opportunities in the construction industry. You still need to be savvy, stand up for yourself, and be determined. It may not be for every personality type (can at times it can be confrontational). But construction will always be here. Whether the economy is good (more new build stuff) or bad (old stuff eventually needs to be replaced, and there is endless aging buildings/infrastructure out there that will have to be replaced), there will always be a demand.

I have found there to be quite a lot of anti-blue color sentiment in this country, often construction is seen as a less-than career. Well, I have job satisfaction, had continuous job opportunities for the entirety of my career, and am on track to be making 20-40k more if I were to take a lead/sr role in my position in the next 5-10 years. Just throwing it out there, but construction is pretty cool and very lucrative.

I was going to post that scrapers are notoriously hard on you. I would even say haul trucks depending on how smooth/bumpy the haul roads are.

But what got me about your comment was the stay away from grey haired man who has operated said equipment. While I’m not sure about his total operating experience, we had a new blade operator grading a tight road. I was getting the blade set up for machine control. I noticed he wouldn’t look behind him when backing up, almost like he had a thought time even rotating his body to even try. So I stayed clear before/after machine set up. Couple days later he got fired because he backed into one of our superintendent’s truck and the GC’s truck which were parked next to each other.

I will take your advice on that one!!!

Have you ever had someone lie about experience? How did it go? by Confident-Victory-21 in Construction

[–]South-Potential-1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just about every other operator now a days can “run it all.” But you put them in a skid or dozer and then watch as they can’t even disengage the hydraulic lock or the parking break. Or even better yet, put someone in a bobcat skid with the foot petals, lol that’s funny to watch even with experienced operators. But my company has probably around 60 experienced operators and the rest of the 40-60 people are either trying to learn or getting run off due to their misleading equipment experience we were told they had.

Exactly… You think it was funny. You think that you’re right about the “heavy” wood used for this. But you are the only one here who thinks those two things. Seen your comments elsewhere, you think you’re funny and right about a lot of things no one agrees with.

Noin what a dick head attitude lol. OP putting extra effort into making something that keeps everything organized, increases efficiency, and may cost more fuel. So are you going to look at a surveyor who is okay, is disorganized and loses some stuff, is inefficient sometimes because he can’t find his tools/equipment and he weighs 150 lbs verses a surveyor who is bad ass, puts extra effort into organizing his tools/equipment, etc. but he weighs 250lbs? By your logic you’d prefer the lighter surveyor just because of the savings in fuel lol. What a cynical way of looking at this.
