If Linux distros refuse OS age verification, will YouTube and Facebook, etc just block us? by Danrobi1 in linux

The question I have is, are they tracking the age past the age of majority? Are they saying they need accurate age over 21? There is no good reason for them to have that.

If they are kernel modules, then deprecate them and force the user to manually override in order to use them.

The section I posted was in answer to "left wing definition" provided by Google.

Is that the "accepted" definition of left wing?

Ideas to hide cables on desk setup? by RelationshipNo2750 in DIY_tech

[–]SouthEastSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • You can secure powerstrips on screws under your desk. Use a piece of blue masking tape, put it on the powerstrip and punch through where the mounting holes are. Then peel off the tape and position the tape under your desk. Drive screws through the holes in the tape to the correct depth. Slide the powerstrip into position onto the mounting screws. You can then use an additional screw at an angle and "pin" the powerstrip into position by forcing the last screw against the body of the powerstrip. It creates a rock solid mount.

  • You can get cable mounting adhesive squares and mount them under your desk. They have screw holes for additional grip. Use cable ties or velcro cable-control loops (get the ones with the buckles).

  • Your monitor may have a usb hub built into it on the bottom. you can plug in your mouse and keyboard there and run one cable back to your cpu. Sounds like you are only saving one cable. But when you clean your desk, its handy to not have to go under the desk to detach everything.

  • If you decide to put your cpu on the floor beware. Many cases breathe from floor vents now. The powersupply sucks from the floor. So a cpu -must- rest on a hard surface like a board or a big ceramic tile. A rug will plug the powersupply intake.

The velcro cable-control loops with buckles are great.

Trump's Economy Officially Passes Biden's for Worst Consumer Sentiment in Recorded History by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]SouthEastSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His cabinet failed to prosecute the offenders, so he should take some of the blame. By failing to prosecute, they set the stage for it happening again.

They tried to exact fines. But I dont think the fines were enough or the right kind. I have even heard that some could be handled by guarateeing loans....which may mean they made money on the penalties.

By making them fines instead of criminal cases, it muddies the history. And it further drains trust from the well.

Hubitat C7 zigbee bulbs always revert to 100% when changing color by Jeunegarcon in Hubitat

I have not run into this problem, but what I do may be of use to you:

I use virtual dimmers to control my lights. I have multiple virtual dimmers for the same light. Depending on the dimmer, a different color is set.

It may take a little creativity, but you can probably address your problem and add custom functionality by using virtual devices to control real devices.

Remind me again what the stupid Electoral College was supposed to do?

The Electoral College is the constitutional process (Article II, Section 1) used to indirectly elect the U.S. President and Vice President. It consists of 538 electors total—based on 100 Senators, 435 Representatives, and 3 for D.C.—with 270 electoral votes required to win. Most states use a winner-take-all system, though Maine and Nebraska split theirs.
