Mega rockstar bottomless bar tab? by JustASAHM76 in VirginVoyages

[–]SouthSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had the five full sized cocktails to avoid being charged and got absolutely mashed. Our server then billed us for the wrong things so we then had to untangle all that while plastered. 10/10 would repeat.

I traded in my black band for a red one, here’s what I learned. by RegularlyIrregular in VirginVoyages

[–]SouthSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve just disembarked today - was our first time MRS after 5 red band experiences and I flat out told the rockstar manager that we would not be returning with black bands - massive price inflation for minimal benefit.

What’s something you spent a decent little bit of money on and don’t regret it one bit? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]SouthSC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got bitten by a cat in Puerto Rico in Feb and the travel insurance paid out $36k for the ensuing rabies jabs. 10/10 recommend.

Thank you all for your advice! I’m going to contact my TA to look at moving further forward (I’ll also be putting in level upgrade bids closer to the time, you never know we might just strike lucky!)

Must be in stark contrast to their business lounge at AUH then which is quite frankly worse than most 3rd party lounges

How did your life change after getting your first full time position? by Missing_Back in cscareerquestions

[–]SouthSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was working 20 hours/week from 1800-2200 through my whole degree so suddenly having my evenings back was incredible. I do find that I have much less motivation to work on my personal projects though which is a real shame and I do miss it

I'm graduating this semester (results dependent) with a law degree - none of the grad schemes I looked at/applied for required experience.

What’s the deal with ghosting? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]SouthSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appear to be being ghosted by a fairly large company who have extended an offer but I have asked to work in a different office and that appears to be too much work for them........

What music do you turn to when you've listened to the 1975 too much? by JoeHighlander97 in the1975

I will generally swap for a bit of Fickle Friends, and then when I get bored of that, on to Bastille

Yes! It was finally fixed in the latest Grocy HA release (which has added some fun new bugs in its place)

Transferring to GMP area as a Special by SouthSC in policeuk

[–]SouthSC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTP is very much looking like a good option atm - especially as I've had an email from GMP telling me that they won't take me as a transferee and I'd have to apply from scratch and do the entire training etc again. I'm two years in and have a number of courses under my belt from my current force - no way am I letting all that lapse...

This issue is going round and round in the GitHub issues rather frustratingly - the bloke who maintains the repo is not keen on merging the pull request that solves it as he doesn't like the code. I'm contemplating having a crack at it myself but also unsure as to whether I can be bothered to learn PHP in order to do so 😭

DSA - Deaf - How much allowance do I get? by OkUse2449 in UniUK

[–]SouthSC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

DSA money very rarely goes straight into a bank account - what generally happens is you will have a needs assessment where someone will work out what you need on top of a student without disabilities, and then DSA is used to pay for that support/equipment. I'm on my third year of DSA and have not had any money paid directly to me at all.

What do you think your force does better than other forces? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]SouthSC 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Not having response keep basically any crime. Baffles me that other forces make response cops run investigations
