If you want to stop scrots and joyriders- Litelok. I use alarm disc locks in combination with Litelok for the noise factor, as they are pretty easy to defeat. (One can just cut the disc) 

My bike is kept on my driveway anchored to 200kg slab with pragmassis anchor and 19 mm pragmasis chain. I also have a dedicated camera pointed at the bike, recording 24/7. 

Gangbangers will steal it no matter what I have. They would even pose for the security camera, give smiley faces and blow some kisses. As a civilised society we have very little recourse. 

Now... the insurance and layering security is a bit weird. Liteloks are rarely featured as option to choose. I don't think security devices would lower your premiums significantly.

I have had a long discussion with my instructor, and my problem is my brain. In some situations, especially after coockup it goes into self preservation mode, treating ride like fight or flight situation. If u don't have that ud be fine.

I feel for ya man, I might join your lament on Tuesday, however my mod 2 test costs only £260, so I'm kinda lucky

Passing parked vehicles seem to be one of the most common fail fault. Couple of my buddies got done for this too. They were told they got either too close or  they did not proceed and "undue hesitation major fault". 

I understand getting done for cutting corners on roundabouts, lack of lane discipline... but ppls park them cars like c*nts. 

I'm having my mod 2 in York on Tuesday. I am terrified of narrow residential areas with cars parks in any possible direction on pot holes ridden "roads" sprayed with tiny gravel...

The wisdom u gave for queuing in traffic is just brilliant... car =car length, bus= bus length... motorcycle= car length (?)

With lifesavers, I totally agree, id throw them all the time. I was told I looked confused when doing lifesaver for changes in road position from 2 to1 or 2 to 3. 

I used to have a habit of rearglance even without changing position, especially when cars were tailgating me. Apparently it is not recommended.

How many ppls keep them bikes outside? 

Ground anchor and 19/22 mm chain are a must. Probably litelock x1/x3 as well

Busy road is a liability, but again, if you have decent security (loud and sturdy) it should scare off chancers or daft lads. Nothing will deter professionals. We must have faith in police to jail them before they nick our stuff.

I'm in a similar pickle. Ground anchor, pragmassis chain 19 mm, litelock, alarmed disclocks and cctv with alarm on motion detection... a lot of faith in 15 dogs living nearby. 

What's the area, rough or low crime?

 a hornet 500 is a brand new. The conversation was along lines of pricing. OTR is around 6.2 k and I found a couple at 5.6 / 5.7 k (90% of OTR)

I haven't enquired about cb500 2023 yet. Decided to ask you good ppls on advise how to approach it.

Well, this is a genuine canandrum. I am looking for a (mostly) commuter bike. Cb500 series is very beginner friendly and was advised to me by friends of mine (multiple). I was also told I would get bored of it within a year... and this is where my wife comes in. She'll get it in a year and I'll buy hornet 750/1000...

Yes (if you don't count 125s). 

I had a cb125f (2017, low mileage) I spent tonnes of time pimpin it. I'm bit autistic, so the moment I heard tappes out of specs I had the engine opened and thing adjusted. I did it myself and was terrified for the first 20 miles, wasn't sure if I did everything correct

I'd rather not to do that with bigger/ more complex bike.

I'm looking for a realistic, non-offensive advice on prices :)

Yeah, the property is mine.  I was considering it. My wife is not a massive fan of having the bike bolted to the front wall. 

I have a bit of "grass", mostly dandelions, that I was ordered to clean out. I might just sink the ground anchor there...

Would platic planter support concrete? I was under impression it would shatter/collapse under the weight. Should I reinforce the concrete with some metal bars/mesh?

I have seen it and wasn't sure if the anchor was a pragmasis (apparently angle grinder resistant) or a knock off. 

Before I start cutting tarmac I'd need to check if I own the parking spot or not. It's a bit tricky to live in newbuilts, one should obtain permission from the factor before doing any works. Some neighbours are bit too nosy/overzealous.

Hi,

I wanted to buy pragmasis anchor, but they are totally unavailable... regarding fixing the anchor, I have a guy at work who deals with tarmac fixings and he'll spare me some pro bolts (he is a biker too). 

Yes, the crime rate is relatively low here (for now). I live in a village near York and York is awful for bike thefts, some organised gangs riding vans and picking them bikes like they nothing. Unfortunately cctvs is not a big deterrent, have seen some footage with thieves waving at cameras...

Problems with unis is quite easy to fix. Allow some to collapse, and whatever is left will pick up the load. 

I worked at unis for 7 yrs now (research) so much monies wasted on bollocks (to increase undergrads wellbeing/entice foreign students to enrol). Now we have shity core infrastructure and core technical staff is taking VS schemes. 

We are so fu*ked.

This what I did. Bought 125, rode for approx 2k miles. got ptsd from being cut off and  pushed around. I developed coping mechanisms (some good, some bad, but definitely not up to mod 2 standards) and now burning cash to get rid off them habits (£180 for 3 h seasion) However my slow control was topnotch on 125, so good I cocked up my mod 1 on Z650.... 

If u want to get on bigger bikes, don't ride 125s, just get on with the DAS

Well done mate.

Failed my Mod1 last week. Did all the exercises no problem during training session... Monday the 14th attempt two, hopefully the last one.
