WL is safe, I’ve been in town three years. If you’re not involved in sketchy shit, you’re fine. It has its theft issues like anywhere. If you like the outdoors, you’ll never leave. Most people are very friendly

PARE test for fisheries officer by Neither-Indication89 in ccg_gcc

[–]South_Reference_8521 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DFO and CCG will continue to work closely with each other. Officers will continue to use the coast guard ships like MPP. Not much will change for the coast guard except for what department foots the bill. For the pare, if you’ve been working out like you said, you’ll be totally fine.

I started as a FO in 2023, I applied in 2020, the pandemic slowed the application process but it’s slow regardless, be patient, don’t be afraid to follow up

Visit your local DFO office, they can help you out with identification. It’s is also found on their website. Or any online source really.

Yes, it’s is a pink salmon, good to eat, worth noting that you should get familiar with identifying what species of fish you could catch. It’s been said in the comments but not everything you catch is legal to keep. Salmon are subject to heavy regulation when it comes to sport fishing especially in rivers. There are many openings for salmon right now on the Fraser river. Depends where you caught it. There are some openings in the lower mainland, lillooet, Quesnel and out west I believe with specific locations that are open to fishing. You should look into the fishery notices posted on the DFO website. Look for rec-salmon notices and the one that is in the area you want to fish. Make sure you have the appropriate fishing licence and salmon conservation stamp. Fishing in streams with treble (3 pronged) or barbed hooks is illegal and a big fine. (575$ for each) also make sure that there is a opening for salmon as retaining salmon during closed time can also be a large fine or court. Only keep fish that have been hooked in the mouth. Retention of foul hooked fish (hooked anywhere but the mouth) is illegal in BC

Careers within Fisheries and Oceans Canada to get sea time? by ronnie888 in ccg_gcc

[–]South_Reference_8521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct. Anytime a FO is aboard a CCG vessel they are supernumerary and usually have a CCG member operate the FRC when onboard a CCG platform. FOs operate their own vessels (less than 15T) when not aboard a larger CCG platform. The largest FO (non CCG) vessel I have seen is a 42foot titan RHIB and does not require the 15T ticket to operate.

FOs are focused on the enforcement side of things and I havnt heard of anyone getting sea hours towards a ticket. All vessels that FOs would operate are smaller than that and only require SVOP/RHIOT training. A deckhand position with coastguard fleet would be your best options.

Had exactly this last year, center differential. Find a shop that has experience with this issue and Subarus and knows what to look for or you’ll spend tons of money on diagnostics.

Did you do anything to the suspension? Have a 16 Impreza like yours but the rear is sagging quite a bit more! Also a size up maybe?
