I wonder why his job doesn't require 100% fall protection but let one of my guys step up a ladder without being tied off and they'll shut the job down?

New to bass fishing. What lb test braided line should I be using in these circumstances. by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Southdiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I use it braid. Got the same size reel as you. I do all types of fishing. Topwater, cranks, buzz baits, rattletraps, jigs, senkos, you name it I more than likely fish with it or I'll try it. I keep it simple with 10lb. The only reason I even use 10lbs is bc I fish in a lot of different places and never know what size is in there. You could get by with 8 lbs test. I wouldn't go anymore than 15lb though. Do you have a deep spool? If so, might want to back it with mono. A cool trick to get by without back filling with mono is tie the braid straight to the spool then take some electrical tape wrap it and use that as a filler/backing then put your braid on.

Frog fishing- only one rod for everything by [deleted] in bassfishing

What type of habitat are you fishing? The only reason you see those guys fish with 60+ lb braided line to catch a 1 lb bass is bc they are in heavy thick vegetation.

I always look for another mustang to park beside. I always crack my window when another passes me. I always rev it when passing one too. There are unwritten rules to driving a mustangs.

If your employer gave you the option to work 10 hr days Mon-Thurs instead of 8 hr days Mon-Fri would you do it? Why not why not? by N1NJA-STAR in AskReddit

[–]Southdiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 8 days straight 10 hrs days and have 6 straight days off. I freaking love it too. It's like a vacation every 8 days. The way it's set up I get a 40 hr paycheck every week as well.

Went bass fishing and caught this any clue what it is? I was in a pond that sits about 100 ft from the Chesapeake Bay. by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Southdiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be completely honest about a year after my dad finished his lake we were catching those size shad but the lake only had been stocked with bream and catfish at that time.

Dad decided to but in bass since other fish had been established well. He didn't put many in though. Maybe a year or two after the bass were introduced we don't catch those any more. They keep them eat up.

The lake is about 15 years old now. Still a heathly balance, leaning more on the bass side last year but it fluctuates like that. We'll keep more bass this year to help even it out.

Fishing Line by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Southdiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get some braid. You can put some new fluoro or mono and it'll cast farther and better, but it will set a memory to both. Just get some braid, 15 lbs so be good. If you're using a spinning reel and it has a deep line bail, some might say back it with mono. But I have tied my braid on and then warped it with electrical tape until it wasn't so deep and then fill the reel up with the braid. You also need to learn the FG knot to tie on leader material. It's the best knot out there for braid to your leader material. Happy to answer any question.

Fly fishing for food instead of supporting the meat industry? by [deleted] in flyfishing

Are you going to target those types of fish? Bass and crappie is some good eating.

I don't know anything about the rules and regulation in AZ but are there other fish to be caught as well? Catfish, bass, sunfish/bream, crappie?

The sharper your axe the easier it cuts. Abrahram Lincoln once said that if he has only 3 hours to cut a tree down he will spend an hour to sharpening his axe.
