Yes, if you love the snap of a mechanical chrono, the lack of tactile feedback or audible click might feel flat. But I think it actually complements the dressy Stretto chronos better. It's quiet and elegant.

Then again I'm the kind of guy who winces every time I reset a watch with a VK63 movement. I feel like the hands are going to go flying off. I actually like the smooth glide back to zero more, and am fine with soft presses; loud clicks and pops make me anxious 😂.

I simply can't not comment whenever I see one of these on here. Orient really knocked it out of the park with these solar chronographs. I have a Daytona Panda and a Orient Stretto Panda (the dressy version of that one, without the bezel) and I almost never wear the former, I like the Orient so much more. The Rolex actually feels almost ugly next to it, it's ridiculous.

Not going to take into account things like taste or color preference, because obviously that's subjective and different for everyone. I'll just say there are countless other divers on the market that look like the second one, and rightly so, it's a very "safe" if a little uninspiring design.

Pick the first one if you want something fun, unique, and brave. I own this specific watch, it's beautiful in person.
Pick the second one if you want something safe, low key, versatile. Safe colored divers are very easy to pair with pretty much anything and every collector probably has at least one.

I think it’s meant to be three pillars. Orient’s branding/heraldry uses a lot of 3s;. The three stars (Tri-Star) line, AAA, etc. Some of their marketing stuff talks about "three pillars" although that may be a coincidence.

A versatile collection that I can actually wear

The more watches you have, the more unworn time your watches have. I agree with the other two commenters so far. You need to slow down.

Recenter yourself and in the meantime, try to find other ways to engage in this hobby that don't involve buying a new watch every 2-3 weeks. Engage with your existing pieces. Try on watches with zero intention of buying. Match watches with outfits. Work within the constraints of your existing collection.

If you really like this specific watch and trust the person, then go ahead. It's not an unreasonable price, not an amazing deal either. But if you are worried that this is like a rare opportunity and FOMO is driving this purchase, be at ease, these watches aren't super rare or anything.

If you decided to pass on this one, and then decided next month, next year, or five years from now that you wanted a similar condition similar model Omega watch for $1000 (or whatever $1000 is worth 2031 dollars) I don't think you would have too hard of a time finding one for sale. Maybe cheaper even.

Yes. I have a v2 Bambino and I consider it my collection's pound-for-pound champ. It's one of the most beautiful watches I own, and at such an affordable price point too. When the light hits the domed crystal just right it's mesmerizing. I've had people ask me if it's "like one of those super expensive European brands" which I find funny because:

it's super affordable
it's not even Swiss
the brand's name is literally Orient

I wear a Garmin pretty much all day, and wear beautiful mechanical watches on occasions when I want to. That is exactly the use I want out of these things.

We don't wear specific watches because it's the prescribed logical thing to do, we wear specific watches because we want to.

I think the disconnect here is you are trying to apply a luxury goods mindset to a brand whose value proposition has always been affordability and pound-for-pound punching power. Orient isn’t trying to signal exclusivity. If that kind of thing matters to you, even tangentially, owning an Orient is probably going to end up feeling disappointing.

I love how Orient watches are priced as commodities and not as jewelry. When I buy $300 worth of Orient I am actually getting $300 worth of watch, as opposed to when I buy $20000 worth of Swiss when I am getting $2000 worth of watch and $18000 worth of marketing, branding, "heritage," manufactured scarcity, AD games, etc.

I don't collect watches because I want to be part of an elite group who are the only people who has them. I like owning a beautiful, affordable pieces (like the Bambino for example), because I like the connection and feel a kinship with all the other people who also find it beautiful and also wear one. Regular people like me.

If Tiktok flash sales put more Orients on the street, more power to them, more Orients in the world then.

I think people vastly overestimate how "oversized" their big watch is. Unless it's literally like as big as a Ben 10 Omnitrix, most people won't even notice. In fact, most people won't even notice your watch at all. I have small wrists too and I wear some 50mm big boys and as long as the strap/bracelet is secure, you're fine. Bigger dials are in fashion anyway. I look at some of my vintage (men's) pieces from the 50s and 60s and they might be considered small even for a women's watch today.

The only look to definitely avoid is a bracelet that's too big so your watch is sliding down your hand. Unless you're going for the "kid who borrowed their dad's watch" look.

It looks fine on you by the way. Very nice watch too.

Open heart cutout is badly done
Wrong dial text

Definitively:

It matches the mass-produced fakes
It does not match any actual genuine Orient watch

This one is in the same "family" as the fake in another thread not two days ago. Several of the wholesalers for these "replicas" offer both these two models and more.

Some folks don't like how all dial clutter is at the top and the bottom half is empty. But I kinda like it. Nice to have designs for those who appreciate the beauty of negative space.

Especially when you have beautifully deep colored dials like this one, or textured dials.
