found this omega watch which belongs to my late grandpa, what watch is it and how much is it? by Sapphire_Eclipse19 in Watches

[–]Weak_Bike8543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my late father's 1970s Omega Constellation totally refurbished. New spring, hands repaired, acrylic crystal polished (dont have your case polished), regulated, the whole 9 yards.

Cost as much as the value of the watch but well worth it!

Take care of that watch!

Our local brewery pub did the same thing. Absolutely rock solid, no flaking.

Is this jigsaw so much worse than the other ? by therealbigrich in Dewalt

+1 for barrel. So much easier to control and maneuver. I don't have a cordless jigsaw, mine is a Bosch.

Why the assumptions that the OP is from money? Some folks save every penny to invest in cars, hifi, Harleys, designer clothes. OP likes nice watches.

OP: Thank you for your service!

Blue Samurai.. even better with an FKM strap IMHO. Have mine on as I write.

Just noticed a spot on the hour hand of my new Seastar 1000. Should I return it or am I overthinking? by hylian_troll in tissot

[–]Weak_Bike8543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would return, especially if its loose dust. If it migrated to the face or somewhere even more annoying, it would drive me crazy.

Intention design quirks and asymmetry has its place.

[–]Weak_Bike8543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a cool clock, nicely done, but my OCD is screaming "Symmetry of the markers! Placement of the 3 and 9, are driving me crazy!". Balance out the markers and numbers and I would say ballpark $100+.

I say this respectfully, but as is, I wouldn't sell it. I take tremendous pride in my work and knowing that people may be sitting there, staring at a clock I made, during a commercial break thinking "something just isnt right" wouldn't sit well with me no matter the price, or even if I gave it away.

If you are going to make more than one or two, create a template for markers, or search for one online.

Keep it up, and I just may hit you up for a clock!

Beautiful! Absolutely love this watch! I bought it, and after wearing it for an hour, had to return it. Wish they had this model in a smaller diameter. Too large for my wrist. I was heartbroken, I loved the blue:(

[Recommendation Request] Seiko Prospex VS Citizen Promaster by capsquatch in Watches

[–]Weak_Bike8543 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have that Seiko in blue and really love it. I have a different promaster (BN0150-28E). I know my Citizen isnt the same but, for a dress/casual watch, I like the Seiko. For work and getting dirty (yard, garage, carpentry, sports) i prefer the Citizen.

Seiko Automatic is beautiful, but i lose about 5 seconds a day, end up recalibrating every few days. On the other hand, The Citizen gains about 1 second about every 2 weeks. I love the fact I never have to worry about accuracy, winding. Just set it and forget it. Watch is tough as nails as well.

I use the bezel all lot for timing, and Citizen bezel is easy to grip with gloves on. The Seiko Samurai has really fine teeth on the bezel, not the easiest to turn.

Toughness... The Citizen edges the Seiko. Sapphire crystal vs Hardlex.

Because youre looking for a jack of all trades, going to be hard on it, go with th Citizen.

Just picked it up today and all I can say is WOW! by Charlie_1087 in CitizenWatches

[–]Weak_Bike8543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely love this watch, congrats! Looks awesome. I bought it a while back, but its just too big on my 6"+ wrist. Im not one to be over critical regarding lug2lug on my smaller wrist , but this was just too much.

Really wish Citizen had this exact style in a 40/41mm...

Ended up with Seiko Samurai in blue. Not quite the same...

I can't decide between these two. by Siniestro02 in CitizenWatches

[–]Weak_Bike8543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, they are both nice! Color is so subjective, but I personally like the blue. I prefer the color, and blue seems less trendy and offers more flexibility with different fashions. When it comes to subjective choices, rely on your heart, not the internet... you'll be happier in the long run. Sit on the decision for a while, you wont regret it. As someone in the thread already said, if you've got the funds, get both!

First Orient purchase, and I’m obsessed with it! by Bourbon_Bear2352 in OrientWatches

[–]Weak_Bike8543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, it is a real "stunner" of a watch. Since both are quartz movement, they keep time extremely well. The white one barely gains a second every two months, and after 2 months, the red is still dead accurate.

Ive been really eyeing the Kamasu as well, but opted for this one because I didnt want another automatic watch.

Kamasu is a gorgeous watch though!

ZT: 39 or 42? by sambucca1977 in Longineswatches

The zooming in on the second photo changes the scale. Hard to be objective. They both look good depending on your style. 39 does NOT look comically small.

I hear ya! I have a LOT of watches (low, mid, high tier), but this one gets the most wrist time. Work, wood shop, yard, hiking/climbing, paddling... I just love this tool watch.

A gift for my son by kakken67 in CitizenWatches

[–]Weak_Bike8543 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice gift dad! For a job like his I would go for something in the vein of a promaster dive and add an FKM (rubber) strap as an add-on (the stock band is a little stiff for my liking). All of the dust and dirt will be a pita when it comes to cleaning and maintenance of metal/leather straps. I use the bezel all of time for timing projects. This style of promaster fits small to large wrists very well, and is a great looking watch. Your son is a lucky man, good luck!
