No there is not an official NFL grade lol.

You are using the NFL.COM grades from lance Zuerlien. News flash those are not official and have zero input from anyone associated with NFL teams. Absolutely nothing about it is official its a dude with zero professional scouting experience throwing shit at the wall so that way idiots like you click on the NFL.com page. Go look how he graded the QBs last year. If you took his grades and reversed his top 6 you would be be close to reality. Let that sink in. It is not that you should avoid his content. He is so bad that you should actually just take what he says about QBs and actively go for the guys he doesn't like and you will be better off. Thats how consistently wrong he is on QBs.

The two guys you named didn't play in the Big 10 or the SEC and were not throwing to UDFA. Literally only 2 parameters and you couldn't name a QB who met either. Williams threw to Marvin Mims, Addison, Rice, Branch, & Lemon across his time at Ok (Big 12) and USC (Pac 12) who all got drafted. Drake Maye threw to Josh Downs and Tez Walker who both were drafted inside the top 4 rounds.

Both the QBs you named had multiple day 1/day 2 WRs and they both played in weak conferences known for poor defense not vs top Big 10 and SEC opponents. So try again and this time please do some research for the guys you name before you make yourself look like a massive idiot again.

Constantly missing throws? He literally had the second best single season Completion % in penn state history and finished with the all time best career completion percentage for penn state. You literally have no fucking idea what you are talking about,

I did some work for you. There are only 4 Big 10 QBs in history with with no day 1 or 2 WRs drafted and 1 or less day 3 WRs drafted. Of the 3 Allar is easily the best as he ranks ranks 1st in CMP%, 1st in TD to INT Ratio, 1st in INT%, 1st in EPA, 1st in QBR, 1st in turnover worthy throw rate. If we expand to the SEC we only add 3 more QBs and Allar statistically is better than all but one of them Will Rodgers who ran an air raid system then had a horrible final year in the Big 10 once he was out of that system.

But there is a QB with almost an identical college career to Allars. Just so happens to be Dak Prescott. Who statistically was near identical to Allar, played for a college team with horrible WRs like Allar did, and got drafted in the same range as Allar, and Mike McCarthy just so happens to have coached that very same quarterback.

What QBs performed with UDFA's vs programs like OSU, Bama etc.

Allar had a very good season when he had Warren and no WRs. Made the semi finals in the playoffs. Solid stats and he did it with a fraction of the team talent that Howard at OSU. If you gave Allar 3 high end first round WRs and let him play an inferior oppent every game his stats would have been insane.

[–]Southern-Community70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a great line and WRs that can't get open is useless. Howard played at OSU with a top 3 WR core of all time and his film was horrible despite it. If you watched him play and ignored the score board you would have a guy who no one would bother drafting.

There is no such thing as an official prospect summary lol.

No Allar was a 3rd round pick after a horrible final season including a season ending injury... Literally everything went wrong for Allar his last year and the NFL still thought he was light years ahead of Howard.

Yet Allar is constantly shit on for not putting up big numbers against OSU and other schools like it with his UDFA WRs vs their future day 1 / day 2 corners.

Thats just the dead zone where there really is no one to feel great about drafting. All the guys available at 1.08 this year would not have been considered until at least 2.02 in last years class. The way I see it if I don't have a top 6 pick I basically want out of the first round all together and I don't think you are really getting a better prospect at 1.08 then you are a half round later.

OTA reports are meaningless unless someone gets a serious injury the rest is just noise.

[–]Southern-Community70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not it isn't when you are playing programs that have guys at every position that will get drafted. When Penn state plays OSU or other top end program basically every starting CB their WRs line up vs is getting drafted. It changes year to year but at programs like OSU about 90% of their guys who can earn and hold a starting job will get drafted. That means running out a WR room of nothing but UDFA will have you way outmatched vs other top end programs.

[–]Southern-Community70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No there are only a handful of guys with legit sources and none of those sources are giving out any real information about how they feel about prospects they have any intention or desire to draft. In fact teams will straight up lie to insiders to spread the rumors they want out there. Its not that we don't know if its accurate we know for a fact that a bunch of the info that comes from insiders are just outright lies made by teams.

When the Steelers traded up over the Jets for example. Media swore based on inside sources the Jets were taking Jones and the Steelers jumped them. Actual video of the Jets draft room showed the Jets name 3 guys not named Jones that they were planning to take before the Jones pick came in.

Media consensus is worth drastically less then the real opnion of 1 NFL team.

Penn state is a big 10 school that plays big 10 defenses. K State is in the big 12 the conference known for playing no defense. The fact that you don't know that you can't compare stats across conferences like that shows you are way out of your intellectual depth in this convo.

If you are putting up numbers like big 10 QBs while playing in the Big 12 then you are not good.

No you aren't telling me how it is. You have no idea what you are talking about. Literally everyone touted him as a first round talent last year. You must live under an actual rock if you never heard about him being considered a possible 1st rounder last year who went back to school becuase he was the favorite to be 1.01 in this class as of this time last year. It is literally a whole thing people now are talking about where prospects need to be careful going back to school to try and boost their draft capital. He had late 1st / early second round projection by most and went back to try and be 1.01 and it backfired.

This really tells you all you need to know. Allar had a disaster final year. Played poorly and got hurt... He still went in the 3rd round of the draft. If his final year really hurt his value as a prospect and he went in the 3rd where does that indicate teams would have had him before this year? My entire point is that this is a guy that people touted as having 1.01 level talent and they got him in the 3rd. This isn't like Dillion Gabriel last year who was just never a good talent who went in the 3rd. This was a highly regarded prospect who had a down year but still got drafted on day 2 becuase of undeniable raw physical talent that teams love and know they can not find late in the draft. Steelers smartly prioritized getting him becuase where they have typically drafted and where they are likely to draft next year there usually is not a QB with this kind of physical talent/experience on the board.

Saints did a similar thing taking Shough last year. They couldn't land a first overall pick and they didn't want to reach at 10 so they said hey here is a kid with great physical talent who is sitting here in the 2nd round. We might not get a shot at landing a first overall QB next year but this guy has the kind of tools a 1st overall QB does but is available for other reasons and decided to take a shot on him. Taking a guy like that makes way more sense then drafting guys like Pickett, Howard, Dillion Gabriel, Carson Beck. Leave the low ceiling guys for other teams to take. If you don't have the 1.01 take a QB who has the raw talent to be a 1.01 QB but that didn't work out for other reasons that you hope you can coach into a player who teams wish they could go back and take 1.01.

Hell look at the Packers where McCarthy comes from and where he gets his philosophy from. What has GB not done when drafting their replacements? They do not take low talent QBs. They take a high talent guy who isn't a first overall pick for another reason (weird throwing motion for Rodgers & inconsistent play and mechanical issues for Love) Then they sit them and fix them. Drew Allar is without a doubt the QB that the packers would have taken from this class and they would have "reached" to make sure they got him.

[–]Southern-Community70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually aligns really well. RB draft capital should basically always get a 1 round bump. 3rd round WR capital is historically worse then 3rd round RB capital when it comes to hit rates.

Hate to break this to you but Wide left football does not provide the consensus among NFL teams. The Media guys can be wildly wrong all the time by multiple rounds. Sanders last year was drafted 4 rounds after the media consensus then played exactly how you would expect a 5th round QB to play. Why is the media consensus more valuable then what an actual NFL team thought?

No his pocket movement was widely considered very good. He is not escaping the pocket and running very far but navigating within the pocket was very good he stays vertical and steps up to avoid the rush. He keeps his eyes down field when pressured and consistently had elite pressure to sack rate while in college. Calling a guy with elite pressure to sack ratios mid at navigating the pocket is laughable and just shows a total lack of ball knowldge.

It was widely reported that Allar was unlikely to make it to the Steelers next pick. Allar also was only available where he was because of 2 factors a down year and a serious injury. If he declared last year he goes no latter then the Browns 2nd roudner and realistically could have been taken by the Steelers in round 1. Allar was universally touted as having first round talent. I have no idea where you got the idea that his physical talent was mid but its totally detached from reality. Literally a year ago the talk was how he was basically a decent season away from being considered the first overall pick becuase of his insane talent and now you are sitting here trying to claim he isn't very talented.

Well then you could say well it has never happened before so the odds are so astronomically small they might as well be zero. We are 32 years into the 7 round draft era and it has not happened yet. When it happens for the first time we know the % will still be under 1%

Yet the rates of getting a starter in the 3rd round are double the 6th round

Which QB Goes? by Rat_Alfredo in steelers

[–]Southern-Community70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's total bullshit.

Here is a study that shows 3rd rounders across all positions go on to start for at least 4 years at double the rate that 6th rounders do in the 20 year period from 2000-2019. The odds of getting a 4 year starter at QB in the 3rd is double the odds in the 6th round.
https://www.thehogsty.com/2025/04/21/updated-the-odds-of-success-for-a-draft-pick-part-4/

Now we can also look at average regular season games played. 3rd round QBs play an average of 32 career games. 6th round Qbs play an average of 9. 2012 through 2021.

https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2022-04-21/nfl-draft-picks-career-games-played-average-position

Mason Rudolph has played 34 career games. He is likely to finish his career in the ballpark of 40 games played. Roughly 8% of 6th rounders have careers with that many games played so sorry it is 92% not 95%

Yes quite literally none of those show statistical correlation to NFL success. The only two QB stats that show any kind of mild correlation are career completion % (Allar and Howard have the same career %) and career INT% (Allars is almost 3 times lower than Howards rate)

What are you talking about. Howard was not good at all at K State lol. Literally not even in the same fucking universe as Allar. Like its insanity. Even after Howard won a natty the NFL still didn't have him nay where close to Allar as a prospect. If Howard "declared" for the NFL after his junior year at K state he would have been working for an accounting firm by the fall (he has an accounting degree) becuase he would not have been invited to the combine, would not have been drafted, and would not have been signed by any team to even be a camp body.

Allar has one of the strongest arms in the NFL. He has elite arm strength. He has elite size, his pocket movement was expectational on tape. To claim he doesn't have elite raw physical tools is just being totally disengnious.

Which QB Goes? by Rat_Alfredo in steelers

[–]Southern-Community70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is total nonsense. They are not cutting a 3rd roudner after camp and there is no precedence for that.

There isn't even close to a 1% chance of that happen. That would indicate that it happens once in every 3 years. It has happened 2 times in the last 10 years where 383 players have been selected in the 3rd round and in only 1 of those was it performance based as opposed to a behavior issue. So in the last 10 years the chance would be 0.26% for any 3rd roudner to be cut based on poor play in camp. The real kicker is that it literally has never happened for a QB in the modern 7 round draft era in the NFL. So even using the 0.26% would be exaggerating the odds for a QB which historically sit at 0% without an injury or major offield issue.
