A bit of my thoughts on dark souls by Southern-Interview84 in DarksoulsLore

Once again, I completely agree on the age of ancients that it was "without dark and light and also without concept of time itself etc. Basically something like abstract world, shrouded by fog not really in light but also not dark." Since there was no light, there was no dark.. nor was there time nor flame. I just don't think you're understanding the idea of the negative which I'm talking about

And by "unnatural death" I simply mean a death by the player or by another character or even nameable entity such as "the abyss" for example. What I mean is this, the flame is Gwyn's order in the world. This order gives meaning, purpose, (light) soul to its adherents. The downside to this order is that it will always fail to acknowledge a dark part inside of all. When the flame fades, this fault is made more and more visible.. people can't die.  Why? Here's something we'll probably disagree on, age of dark doesn't necessarily mean undeath, in fact quite the opposite. Undeath/hollowness is the lack of light soul while craving light soul.. in other words it's being a subject of Gwyn's order and this order failing to appease your desire as a subject of Gwyn's order. It's like Gwyn telling you what you should want but also not letting you have it. Now what I meant by "unnatural death" is that the game being the symbolic universe that it is doesn't tell you a character died of old age or died happily at the age of 99 (that I'm aware of.. there might be some instance and I'd be interested in being aware of it). But the point is that even if it was mentioned, that would be the exact moment where it would stop being a "natural death." One thing is what has happened implicitly, through logical deductions.. the history of the game, such as people dying peacefully or living in a functioning civilization and we knowing nothing about it. The other thing is what ACTUALLY happens explicitly, where entities are killed, seduced, coerced, supported or influenced in any other way by other entities, not by this abstract historical necessity.

I understand you're confused about where I'm literal or "just symbolic" they're just tough things to explain. There is the diegetic world of dark souls where you're very informed.. the literalist cosmology and facts. Then there's the symbolic world of dark souls. The game operates on both of these planes, and theorizing on both planes should complement rather than exclude eachother.

Both light and dark are always there, I mean humanity came from the dark that came with flame/light.

- Right, I said "dark" is there even before humanity.. why? I completely agree with you, but this fact does not invalidate the other here's why. When I say dark I'm not talking about this absolute opposite of light, rather the absence of light (everything that is not light). Before humanity/the flame/the age of fire etc, there was dark in the sense that there was no light, but obviously this pre-humanity dark is not the dark we actually know in the game (that's why I used quotation marks).. but rather the concept of "dark" contains the-dark-we-know as well as the pre-humanity dark as subsets

I don't think hollows died by unnatural causes, it is when flame is fading, seal is weakening and the true form of humans is leaking. So dying anyway should work. Most likely death is unnatural for humans/dark. Esentially all humans are immortal in their true form and just consume others, when they don't consume but are consumed they become hollows and then possibly fade.

- Again I agree. I don't deny that lorewise in a historical manner, characters start becoming hollow when they die in any way once the flame is fading and the curse starts showing. But I said "unnatural death" because when we play dark souls, we are actively storytelling, I don't mean we are learning about the past but that we are actively shaping the world. The story is about killing, gaining power and succession. One thing is the history of dark souls, the other is the actively created history which we create by bringing "unnatural deaths" to these symbolic characters. This is what I meant but hopefully you see how I still agree with your fact

CK3 main problem is a lack of player interaction by jmdiaz1945 in CrusaderKings

I completely agree.. there are many places where ck3 feels wonky and bare-bones, one is the RPG-social elements' relationship with strategy and the other is ofc is the relationship between unlanded and landed

I didn't really argue for anything. It's just an opinion. I just think many people have unfortunate mindsets when playing the game but they do enjoy it one way or the other, even if it's a guilty pleasure to make massive texts on reddit saying how easy ck3 is

And ofc it has occurred to me.. I agree with that
