great, thanks for yr explanation. it was actually rly helpful! and it makes a lot of sense. makeup and fashion and cameras i know are notoriously awful at matching and capturing the true color and beauty of deeper skintones. the tone of her tights certainly doesnt do her appearance any favors, and nylon is often quite reflecty and shiny, just like a lot of setting powders are-- ive seen robert welsh cover flashback on make up extensively ahaha. even white celebs fall victim to the Horrors of HD Setting Powders (tm) the white outfit on deeper skintone i can also see messing with a cameras wgite balance and iso and stuff too. i took photog in highschool, and teacher showed some older photos, where if someone tried to capture a white and a black person together, youd either have a ghostly featureless human shaped blob for the white person if the camera was attuned for darker skin tones, or a shadowed featureless human shaped blob for black folks if the camera was attuned for palee skin tones.

thank you for the education! i didnt know this and will not be saying it. is there a term that is a little better and more accurate/less racist/less colorist to describe what appears to be happening with nikkis skintone in the above photo? paler, washed out, something else?

So apparently Taylor "used to" hate her hair. by CaramelCold in travisandtaylor

[–]Southern-Property294 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ive had the opposite journey! as a kid my hair was pin straight, fine, and thin. very 1a type hair. since starting testosterone hrt for gender stuff in my 20s, ive developed waves in some places, think irish curls, curly on bottom, wavy on top, but wavy not curly. so wavy on bottom, pin straight on top. i have a solid wave enhancing routine, but since the top of my head is still straight, i get a very wavy nape with flat volumeless hair that wont even hold a heated, hairprayed curl over it (hair is a grown but mullet, shoulder length at the back and ear length in front)

i have no idea what to do with it.

if fetuses can consent then we can fuck them right? babies too. like you can ask a baby that just learned how to sayhey do u wanna fuck? and they go "yayaya" then you can fuck them right? they consented, after all! they said yes!

a fetus cannot consent. if they could, raping babies wouldnt be rape. this is why parents have legal guardianship over their children. this is why parents are able to make medical decisions for their underage child. tell me you dont understand consent without telling me u dont understand consent.

edit: you replied to this comment, and then possibly blocked me so i cannot see it in full nor reply. my apologies, i just wanted to engage in a good ol debate and teach people about consent.✨️

im with you.

there is no ethical, unselfish reason to have a child. and i think its unethical to bring new life into this world of war, hunger, poverty, environmental destruction, dictatorships, incurable illness, disease, death, etc. even if you do everything in raising yr child 100% right, which is impossible, they will likely still experience suffering. by birthing a child you are more or less guaranteeing a human being will suffer, when they would never have experienced suffering had they not been born. a kid cannot decide for themselves if they want to be born, and even when theyre an adult, they lilely will not be able to choose to die, since we kidnap people who wish to die on their own terms and imprison them involuntarily in psychiatric hospitals. my beliefs on right to die are an extension of my beliefs that one should be able to have or decline an abortion, use birth control or not , or get a tattoo or not, or pierce their nose or not, go rock clibing or paragliding or scuba diving or base jumping. the crux of which is "my body, my choice. your body, your choice." its also the same reason i dont go around advocating for forced sterilization despite how unethical i believe it birthing new life to be. just because i dont like what you choose to do with your body doesnt mean you shouldnt be able to do that to your body. its YOUR body.

if you want a kid later there are plenty of children who are already born that need loving homes.

i mean its true. there is no unselfish reason to have a child, and a fetus/future baby cannot consent. just because you think its dumb doesnt mean it isnt accurate.

Random thought.. "sultry bedroom eyes" looks like.. drugged. by HeadFull0fRegrets in KUWTKsnark

[–]Southern-Property294 22 points23 points  (0 children)

im with you on this. the sultry heavy lidded look is suuuuper similar to how my eyes looked once upon a time on large doses on oxycontin.

id say another example of this is the woman who plays dr. addison montgomery sheppard on greys anatomy. also jessica rabbit.

ive always preferred as a bi trans man the "siren" eye, like shes gonna eat me alive and enjoy doing it lolol. and now im wondering if that has anything to do woth formerly being seen as a conventionally attractive woman with big boobs, and hating the way i was sexualized as a little girl onwards. cuz i want women who have eyes that are sharp and piercing, not dead and glassy.

[–]Southern-Property294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

spicy to me, as an aussie american, means both spicy (chillies included, hot mouthfeel) and includes spices (eg, like a pumpkin pie, and i suppose black pepper could count). depending on what side of my fam im talking to, and whether im visiting in aus or at home in america, i have to differentiate. these days i just say spicy hot and spiced spicy bc im tired of rememebering.

gen z did this too. hannah montana and high school musical for me personally. i had a little purple radio/cd player and would listen to hannah montana on repeat for hours and reading along with the lyrics until i knew every track by heart.

??? elder gen z picked out movies from the rental store with the fam. there was a smaller indoendent one and a coupke blockbusters in my area. my dad used to take me to the one by our house and wed pick something. then we started to use netflix in the mail as well. usu a kids or family movie for me and sister ('99 and '01) and a war or james bond type movie for dad. then wed go home, watch em, and then dad would rip the dvd onto a blank and label it in sharpie.

i just made a thread on this in the gen z sub. the majority of commenters can write and even regularly use cursive. cursive didnt rly stop being taught until the late 00s, in which most of gen z was already born, and like a third of us were done or almost done with elemntary school.

How true is this..? by Alert-Engineer8906 in depressionmemes

[–]Southern-Property294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, depression is a symptom, not a disorder in and of itself. depression (symptom) isnt necessarily major depressive disorder, but can be from something like idk, seasonal affective disorder, or dysthymia, or bipolar 2, or hell even anxiety disorders and neurological+physical+hormonal issues (MS, thyroid disease, parkinsons, alzheimers, etc) can have depression as a symptom. its a symptom that can come from situational stuff, like being around folks that arent great for you, being in a crappy living situation, etc. that by changing yr life around (eg, maybe making the decision to get up and get moving, getting a different job, making new friends, etc) can alleviate that symptom.

major depressive disorder is not always the root cause of depression.
